Quest For Infamy is now available at Steam, GoG, Desura and Humble!

Inspired by classic Sierra and LucasArts games we all love, Quest For Infamy is a Role Playing Adventure Game set in the Valley of Krasna, an idyllic place... or so it would seem!  Over 200 backgrounds, and more NPCs than I care to admit... it's a giant sized adventure!

Check it out sometime, eh?

So happy it's out.  Looks fantastic!

Congratulations on the release.

Ups. Where is the Mac Version? I had played the Mac Demo. I hope the Mac version is coming soon....

My first impression:

  • Wonderful backgrounds!!!
  • But I am shocked about the scaling of the main character in some rooms. The character is either too big or too small or he does not scale when he goes to the background. A major design fail... is very disturbing in my eyes.

Athanor

Congratulations on your release! :)

I have the same points like Windenwart: I absolutely love your background arts. Most of them are really beautiful and imaginative.
However, I have a problem with the scaling too: In many scenes the protagonist seems strangely unfitting in the rooms, because he is too small and doesn't scale in a perspectively correct way. To be honest, that's the only thing that's holding me back from buying your game...

Blackthorne

Mac version is forthcoming - just working out a few kinks.

Scaling is affected by winsetup - it's setup for Direct3D, as that is most compatible with computers.  You can use winsetup to select DirectDraw, which tends to look better with scaling, but can be unpredictable and not work on many computers.

You understood us wrong. Scaling means http://www.adventuregamestudio.co.uk/manual/ags11.htm (Character scaling).

The Mac port is very mysterious!

  • Sometimes the game needs 4 minutes to start
  • Sometimes the game hangs up while starting
  • There is no way to exit the game from title menu (only the hard way with cmd + q)

...just got done downloading this from GOG last night!  My wife and I watched the intro and are psyched to get into some gameplay tonight!

Congrats on the release! Boy I'm gonna have so much fun :-D

Grats to the release, just played through as sorcerer, great game... except the scaling of Mr. Roehm...

But I wonder, where can I get the complete soundtrack?? Bought it via GOG but I got only 2 sample songs?

Keep going, would like to know what happens in Quest for Infamy 2 (Especially with Keyanna)

Oh man, I've only just seen this!

Congrats on the release was really looking forward to this. I'll be honest I was dubious about it when the kickstarter came out (I never played the QFG games and it didnt look my bluecup of tea), but the demo was excellent.

Buying now!!!

and a mac port makes my whole buying an overpriced laptop instead of going on holiday this year that little bit sweeter :)
<Babar> do me, do me, do me! :D
<ProgZMax> I got an idea - I reached in my pocket and pulled out my Galen. <timofonic2> Maybe I'm a bit gay, enough for do multitask and being romantical

Congratulations on finally getting the game out in stores.  It must be quite cathartic after all that time and money spent in development to finally see Quest for Infamy as a real, complete thing :).

Congrats for the release!

A French videogame website, Gamekult -probably the third or the fourth biggest in term of French speaking audience- just published it's review.
Spoiler

The game obtains a 5 over 10, but this website is known to be strict, so it is more like a 6 or a 7 for other French videogame websites.
Main complains are paradoxically that they were expected more infamy: Roehm looked more bored and lazy than evil.
They also noted that the combat system is as broken as in Quest for Glory series, and that the voices sounded unprofessional sometimes.
They enjoyed a lot the homage to the old fantasy series, the praised the graphics and the strong personalties of the characters. They also found the game quite funny.
They compare it to Heroin Quest. They found HQ less beautiful and more conventional, but they liked it better on all the other aspects (they did not published a review of HQ, though).

I finally got around to playing the demo of this (I know, late to the party, but that makes me cool right?? Fashionably late darlings) I am DEFINITELY buying the full game as I love the dry humour. I did encounter a small problem though. I'd gone into the pub and bought a pint of lager, then Roehm (did I spell that right? I'm sure I didn't) seemed to get stuck in a crazy loop running up and down the stairs in the pub?? I waited in case it was meant to happen and he would stop, but after a good couple of minutes I decided he wasn't just burning off the alcohol by power walking and it was probably stuck. :\ Don't know if that's a known bug, or if it's even in the full game but there ya go.. I couldn't do anything, it had the loading skull thing up and all options were greyed out, so I had to quit in task manager and close the process down.

If it helps at all, I'm running Windows 8 and it's a fairly new and shiny machine, but I don't have issues with other AGS games, or DOS box or owt else. Let me know if I can give better info on the bug for you, I'm not so much a coding geek really, I'm an artist so I don't know what info is useful! :p

chucklas

I have not looked at the demo in ages, but it seems like a bug with the regions around the stairs.  I can say with confidence it is not in the final version of the game.  I am glad you liked the demo!

Blackthorne

Hey guys!

Just to let you know, Quest For Infamy is in the Be Mine bundle on Groupees now!  There's a bunch of cool games in there, including 1954 Alcatraz, by Gene Mocsy, who is an excellent dude.

It's your chance to pick up some great games for a great price.
