I got it!
Spoiler
almost one week = 6 day; double behind = assass; ends within = ends with "in" => 6 day assassin (an AGS game)!

I'm sure it's correct, so here's mine:
Area of a certain kind of travelling machines from another planet, where everything is backwards. (5, 4, 4)

Andail

That was really good, BSP, I was sure my riddle would be harder than that...

It just so happens that not long ago, someone on IRC mentioned this game, so it wasn't very hard for me.

Baron

Correct!  And now I'm afraid I will have to force you to come up with a new one, unless some generous soul steps in and saves you the effort. :)

Dadalus

Fine, here we go then :-\

Hmm... should be in bed now, not sure why I'm not, but here goes...

Take the first name of the creator of a southwards trip minus the round letter, followed by a famous maid in miniature (3,10).

Baron

Spoiler
Well a southwards trip refers almost certainly to The Journey Down, developed by Theo (which minus a round letter gives us The).  So The Ten Letter Thing.  A famous maid in miniature....  IN miniature?  But miniature only has 9 letters....  How old do you have to be to still qualify as a "maid", anyway?  Or is it a cleaning maid?  Not... Amelia Bedilia?!?  Other famous maids....  Was Mrs. Doubtfire a maid or a governess?  And what would make the maid miniature?  Maybe it's one of those little Roomba robot vacuum units?  Hmmmmm....  Amy Winehouse?  A small house would be a cottage, or a cabin.  Or a shed.  Or a hut.  My guess is The Wineshanty. ;-D

Ok then lets try

Spoiler

The Marionette.

I'd already figured out 'THE' though only by the number of letters, Baron has to take credit for the explanation.

Then I went all round the houses with Joan of Arc (The Maid of Orléans), and 'Minute Maid' (a beverage product line). Then it finally hit me 'Maid Marian' of Robin Hood fame. A little 'Marian'---> Marionette.

So I think this one is 50/50 with Baron, if I have guessed correctly.

EDIT: If I am correct then I throw it out to anyone who wants to jump in.

I'm pretty sure you're right, so I'll sneak in with this one.

One small hand, a football body and only half a cell.

I'm going to withhold the letter-count at first because I think it would be too easy if it's not already.
