the only thing I can think of that fits the word count is 'decimal point'.

How it relates to the clue and to AGS, I don't know but I imagine it's used a lot in coding.

If you receive a bill at the end of the month and it says $1234 but you were expecting $12.34, you might very well lose your hair.

Having torn out my hair many a time due to this, I am changing my answer to:

Closing brace. They are a huge pain to sort out, especially if there are many braces nested inside other ones (multiple levels of conditionality, etc.).
