Well the only part I think I have is:

Spoiler
Go far = long e.g. go long
Unless 'go far' means the damning bit is after the spills bit...?

Nice...

I was also thinking "go far" could mean:

Spoiler
"Roam" or "Trek" to fit the 4 letters. But I couldn't get anything to work with those.

Baron

It's nice to see some healthy speculation for a change. ;-D  Unfortunately, healthy != correct. ;)

Big Hint:
Spoiler
What happens when you spill somethign?

Electrically indecisive silica (1)

selmiak

-
or maybe
+
?
depending on the quantum state and if somebody is observing or not of course.

Baron

Not bad guesses, but incorrect so far.  Who else wants to take a violent stab at it?  Anyone?

Electrically indecisive silica (1)

"indecisive silica" I think refers to:

Spoiler
"silica" being scrambled into "ASCII" which is missing the "L"...

So I'm thinging the answer is "L" through some word play of "EL(L)ectrically"...

So yeah my answer is: "L"

Baron

Also well-reasoned, but incorrect.

Spoiler

What sound do you make when you are being indecisive?

U?  As in "uh" not "you".

Had otherwise wondered whether "electrically indecisive" might be something about being between P(ositron) and N(eutron), so ... O?  (Although that doesn't really work as a Neutron has no charge.

Wyz

I'm going to guess:
Spoiler
Ω
For Ohm the unit for electrical resistance and also an indecisive sound.

Life is like an adventure without the pixel hunts.

Baron

Wow, these certainly are very plausible answers.  Ohms, in particular, is definitely a step in the right direction for "electrically".  In the mean time, I'll leave you with a more obvious hint about indecisive noises....

#978
Let's see:
Spoiler
The chemical formula for silica is: SiO2

members of the silica group:

    quartz
    tridymite
    cristobalite
    opal
    feldspars
    feldspathoids
    sodalite group
    scapolite (Wernerite) series
    zeolite family

So I've been attempting to combine "er" with any of these to hit on inspiration but nothing so far. I know the answer is (1) character but I'm thinking that maybe the puzzle gives the full name of the character (asterisk for example)...

The closest I have found is:

umlaut/diaeresis ( ¨ )

But only because it starts with "um" which sounds indescisive. Can't figure how the rest fits...
[close]

OH HELL!!!

CLICK!!! GOT IT!!!

Spoiler
Ampersand!!!

So the answer is: &

Figuring:

Electrical = amp
Indescisive = er
Silica = sand
[close]

Damn that felt satisfying to figure out! Great puzzle Baron!

Stupot

Nice puzzle Baron.
