As a nod to the recent Academy Awards the theme for this Colouring Ball will be:

By which I mean:

ANY kind of entertainment of course. Not just hollywood movies.

It could be a video game, a piece of sports' equipment, a stereo system, a child's toy, a bookcase full of books, etc etc.

Anything that a person might use for entertainment (and which is displayable within the acceptable limits of this site of course ;) )

Here is the frame:

And to avoid confusion, here is the frame with the grey area showing the area you may use:

RULES:

You have to fill the shape by drawing and colouring your "Entertainment"!

What you can do:
Colour the dark outline.
Rotate the shape in 90-degree increments and also mirror the shape.
You can use all the colours you like.

What you can't do:
You can't change the shape.
You can't distort the shape.
You can't make the shape bigger.

Competition runs from March 1st, 2015 to March 10th, 2015.

IT'S VOTING TIME!!!

Sorry for the delays folks. The show must go on!!!

Here are all entries for voting (minus my own joke entry):

I had a hard time figuring out what to do with the circle like shape (so that means it's a good shape...), so I gave the arcade machine some arm with which it will grab you and never let you go again, like every arcade machine does.

...or the arcade likes to play with itself and its joystick :=

. . . or as she likes to call herself
>>>   the next dancing queen  <<<

She performs a kind of modern ballet and is really excited to have made a contract abroad already.
She doesn't know anything about this country yet but doesn't care
because they told her that the inhabitants from Minecraft will love her figure for sure.

Edit:
YAY - extension, extension!
Because we got offered that extension, I fiddled a bit with the colours. I wanted to let her appearance become brighter and a bit naughty
...  more like a queen of dancing instead of something insignificant
   (laugh)

Uhm... first shape/idea that come to my mind was far from entertainment... then again, maybe some think of it as entertainment... the second is a bit too "easy"... (roll)(laugh)
But at least I already have two ideas for the shape. :-D

I'm sure an electric chair is considered entertainment to some, and don't be shy to go for the obvious arcade game either...

* Mandle just read your mind...scary eh?

Not really, they are pretty obvious shapes that fit perfectly, so am sure everyone will have those ideas just by looking at the shape. So am looking forward to see how the experts run from the obvious and blow our minds. (nod) I'll probably try one of those if I can't think of nothing else. ;)

selmiak

I have an idea, please don't steal it until I finished it... and it's not steven hawking tied to his wrecked chair... :P

Cassiebsg

If anyone is having problem downloading the shape:: http://i28.photobucket.com/albums/c201/Mandle/EntertainmentFrame01_zpsfntqct3t.png~original click on the view icon on the upper right corner, then right click on the image and choose "view image", then right click on it and choose "save image as..."

uff uff uff... Photobucket doesn't make this easy at all! >:(
There are those who believe that life here began out there...

Mandle

Really? Right-click on shape and select "copy image" doesn't work for you Cassie?

Cassiebsg

Nope, whenever I do that with an alpha-PNG all I get a black picture. :/ And "save as" with photobucket saves and html file... >:(
There are those who believe that life here began out there...

Mandle

Hmmmm...that's weird. Both "copy image" and "save image" work for me on my crappy old computer. I remember you had problems with photobucket before though with AGS not displaying your bucketed images properly. Maybe it's a region-based problem: Your country hates photobucket?!

Does anyone else have the same problem as Cassie?

I can't just let Mandle win his own competiton by default, that would be blasphemous :cheesy:

Nice ones Hobo and selmiak! :-D
I do have an idea that is neither an electric chair nor an arcade machine, but just haven't been in the mood to pixel it. :-\

These entries bring tears to my eyes!!! They are all so awesome!!!

                                 I am speachless!

I already got some grey hairs until I managed to gather some alf-hearted approaches of ideas, but
even if I would be able to convert one idea into an acceptable entry ...
I can't get even close to this quality.

You guys are really fantastic - chapeau

Well, now. That is not an acceptable excuse. :)
I would strongly encourage you to send something.

I, myself think about it not in terms of skills or who's bettter,
I guess it's more about challenging myself, gaining experience
or trying to solve kind of "graphical" puzzle. I would probably never
come up with my entry on my own, it's the suprising shapes
and themes that "made me do it" :) And I'm pretty sure that
every pixel counts somewhere later, so any ideas and solutions
you'll come up with may be useful to you in some way while doing
your own projects.

I saw past colouring competitions and every single entry made me thinking
"Whoaaa, nice. How come I didn't saw that?"

So please, open that Photoshop/GIMP/another-program and draw.

Well, now. That is not an acceptable excuse. :)

Firstly, let me just say that this is one of the kindest sentences I have ever seen. It may seem strict at first glance, but for me it encapsulates the whole reason these contests exist. And here's why:

I'm just going to do a rather rude edit on this next bit to say it just a little better:

Quote from: WRK on Mon 09/03/2015 21:20:24
And I'm pretty absolutely sure that
every pixel counts somewhere later, so any ideas and solutions
you'll come up with may be useful to you in some way while doing
your own projects.

And the final and best bit of wisdom:

Quote from: WRK on Mon 09/03/2015 21:20:24

A great man once said:

Quote from: Stephen King
If you want to be a writer, you must do two things above all others: read a lot and write a lot.

And no matter what anyone personally thinks of Stephen King as a writer, I don't think anyone can deny that this bit of wisdom applies to any artistic field so:

"If you want to do graphic art, you must do two things above all others: view a lot and draw a lot."

"If you want to be a game dev, you must do two things above all others: play a lot and release a lot."

Yeah...I got a bit too grand there, but I really believe it...

But, living by it is also a great challenge. I'm still not sure if I can or not...
