WOW - guys, I love you for all the entries and postings

Hi, hi, hi - Mad did a Mon Calamari with a stroller - What a nice idea!  YAY!   Is it Admiral Ackbar?

Mandle, so if you didn't  come up with own sprites at the sprite jam but a jokes concept there might be the need to add a bit of explanation.Oh, and btw. do you count Stewie Griffin to Star Wars or Star Trek?

Ponch, that's great! Thank you for doing a world premiere of a virtual reality with sex appeal but a really average breast size in my humble comp. I am proud of you (nod)

And jwalt you offered some well done guests from Running Silence, the three lovely robots that I like so much (if I realized them correct)

In case I am correct then I am sorry, but you searched in the wrong movie. I can't remember of an appearence of those in Star Wars or Star Trek. That means we are in need of an explanation to know if they belong to Star Wars or Star Trek and what they ar doing there. (roll)

On the serious side, feel free to disqualify the image if you want. I will not be offended in any way.

On the other hand... I did do a bit of Googling to find the connection, and discovered this interesting site about Silent Running:

http://cyberneticzoo.com/not-quite-robots/1971-silent-running-drones-doug-trumbull-don-trumbull-paul-kraus-james-dow-american/

It has the following quote:

Los Angeles Times â€" Dec 5, 1977

……….The drones. by the way, proved to be director George Lucas' inspiration for his own stubby robot, R2-D2, a fact that he admitted to [Doug] Trumbull when he approached him about contributing to "Star Wars." Trumbull, however, turned down the assignment because he did not want to repeat himself by returning to another space opera…………..

Edit: And Googling Star Wars Power Droid reveals a certain cosmetic connection. The shape isn't quite correct, but the lineage seems viable.  (laugh)

Ahhh...mine is actually supposed to be one sprite containing two characters. I was hoping the joke would be understood by those who have seen the new movie (and know a little about Family Guy, especially the Stewie character), but perhaps I missed the mark (hamill...erm...no? Okay, fine!).

So yeah, just consider it a joke entry really. It was meant to provide a laugh, and if so: great, and if not: Oh well, maybe next time... :-D

Tabata

jwalt, I didn't know this facts about the drones. It was very interesting (good I asked). ;-D
And no – I won't disqualify an entry. I am happy for every entry that has been done and maybe ... or hopefully will be done.
Thank you for yours, jwalt.

Aaah, Mandle, so you have offered an insider joke?
No wonder I didn't understand. I haven't seen the new movie and what I know about that character from Family Guy is – ähem ... he exists.
Let me thank you, Mandle, for an humorous entry.

Aside of the comp I'd like to take the chance to send some wishes to my online family :-*
I want to wish you all a wonderful christmas without sorrows

Thank you for yours, jwalt.

So, all this body and fender work on a spare Silent Running drone, to morph it into a Star Wars Power Droid, goes for naught. ;)

Mandle

I'm loving the morph from SR to SW droid jwalt!!!

I hope no amputees were injured during the transition...

jwalt

Since my nefarious plot, to convince Tabata that my droids had something to do with Star Wars, was successful, I decided to give the Silent Running concept art droid a try:

Only, I think I mixed my movies up, again...

After the fact, I got to thinking that I have derailed Tabata's Sprite Jam with stuff that might be better suited to The Rumpus Room. I apologize to Tabata and everyone else for messing with what is, afterall, a serious competition.

Please consider the first image I submitted as my entry. I will now slink off and hide in the corner.

Edit:

Spoiler

@Ponch regarding Blade Runner - I'm guessing you already know that Douglas Trumbull, who helped make Silent Running, was also involved in Blade Runner. He was Special Photographic Effects Supervisor for both films.

@Mandle regarding morphing pains - I don't know about the amputees inside, but Gonk said it hurt more than Jabba's hot foot torture, poor guy.

WHAT?! First I've heard of such!!!

I thought these competitions were mainly a means to keep everyone interested and participating in the community...As well as continually honing their various skills...

If they ever get extremely serious things might get...erm...seriouser?

Tabata

A HAPPY NEW YEAR 2016 TO YOU!

... and now ...
... for those who haven't overdone the celebrating last night:

There are still almost two days left to participate!  (nod)

@jwalt
No worries, dear
Don't tell it to the others, but for me it was entertaining, interesting and held the thread alive
