It seems that version of the tablet itself is more important.
The article on Microsoft Surface mentions that Surface 1 and 2 had ARM CPU, not Intel x86 CPU, which means that not only AGS Editor, but even AGS games won't run, at all.

If that is the case, I am afraid nothing could be done at the moment, unless there is some kind of x86 emulator or virtual machine software available for this tablet.

I took a picture of the specs, but for some reason the preview is showing it as a broken image. I'll look at posting it when I'm on break.
So.. what Surface would allow .exe? (On my way to work or I'd investigate it myself ) We are supposed to be getting more Surfaces, maybe I can request an .exe friendly one!

Anything with the "Pro" designation or newer than the Surface 2 will allow you to run .exe files. If you're looking at MS tablets, there really were only two early models with the limitation: Surface 1 (also called the Surface RT) and the Surface 2 (non-pro version).

If you need a suggestion, the Surface 3 would be a good .exe-friendly choice.

I found an attempt at an x86 emulator for Windows RT, but it was abandoned:

Thanks, Gurok! Also, I've had it confirmed that it is indeed a Surface 2. As well, I've contacted head office about the new tablets-- to my great disappointment they've already been ordered and they are "Lenovo". That's all the lady I've been emailing  knows about them. Looks like the x86 emulator is my only option, provided I get "blanket permission" like I've asked for. So far her response is "can you download another waffle that will work on it? The new tablet will have microsoft bits like Word and such." after I said "The program used to create Waffle Quest [which she's seen and played] has been downloaded; the tablet will not accept it as-is". *sigh*(wrong)

(I hope the picture works this time.. :/ Probably not necessary at this point.)

Not necessary, but it's nice to see what you have.

There is a chance that the Lenovo tablets are x86-based and will support AGS. CW's and my comments up until now have been about Microsoft tablets. You'd need to look up the model of the new Lenovo tablets and find out if they run Windows RT (bad) or standard Windows 8/10 (good).

Patch 3 is released for AGS 3.3.5; any future discussion should be held in corresponding thread: http://www.adventuregamestudio.co.uk/forums/index.php?topic=53658.0
Please update your Editor to 3.3.5 - Patch 3 (I do not think we will support unpatched version).
