Case #4
Dozens of yells were heard as one was dead from one second to another. What happened?

Yes (nod)
Is the one who died a human?
Was it an accident?
Was the one who died engaged in some form of sport?
Are those who yelled watchers?
Were the yells in response to whatever caused the death?
Did the performance take place inside a building/tent?
Was it a showman whose performance went terribly wrong? (CLOSE ENOUGH TO BE A YES FROM NOW ON. Actually spot on yes. Must have been the sleep deprivation...
When you say "dozens of yells", was that approximately the size of the audience?
Was she killed by another person (or multiple people)?
Was she a circus performer?
Or is it a kind of sport to saw the assistant of the magician literally? (nod)

No (wrong)
Was it murder?
Did he die on stage? (no, but close)
Did something fall on the victim?
Did more than one person die?
Was he himself to blame for the accident? (Maybe work on this once more. It's close to yes ;) )
Did the victim perform that sport alone?
Was the dead person male? (Even if it doesn't matter, just to make the pronouns easier) (It matters!)
Were the yells in response to the death?
Did the yells (directly or indirectly) cause the death?
Was the victim a cheerleader? (not exactly, but close to that)
Was she hit by one of her mates during synchronous swimming?
Was it an accident during rhythmic sports gymnastics?
Was it unlucky slipping of a mud wrestling fighter?
Was is an accident during ice skating (couple running/dancing) - the male scater lost control/hold and therefor the female got hurt deadly?
Did they play rollerderby when the accident happens?
Did one or more animals take part?
Was she a dancer of some kind? (Trying to think of what's similar to a cheerleader)
Did they yell to try to warn her about something?
Was she killed by some kind of mechanical/equipment failure?
Was it a crash at an airshow?
Was she on the bottom of a human pyramid?
Was the clown car involved?

Did someone push a button?
Did something explode?

Did he die from anything medical condition?
Did the stands collapse at a sports arena?
Did  the victim play a ball game?
Was it in the middle of a battlefield?

Was the person who died taking part in an athletics event?
did the person fall onto something that caused his death?
Was a sprinter shot by the start signal pistol?
Was the victim a high rope artist who's partner missed to catch her?
Did the victim perform a pole dance when the pole broke?
Did she die from a fall from a high place?
Was she sky diving and her parachute failed?
Was she bungee jumping? (if so) Did the elastic failed causing her death? (better ignore the "falling" for now. Just a logical consequence and maybe won't help you to solve the case atm.)

Did the victim fall? (when, where, why?)

I'm not sure if I understand Tabata's question there.

Are you saying that sawing someone in two counts as a sport?

I think you have hit on the answer maybe Tabby!

Was the girl a magician's assistant doing a saw-the-lady-in-half trick and the audience started yelling when they saw the blood dripping down from the cabinet and realised the trick had gone wrong?

No it's a KIND OF SPORT where an ASSISTANT is needed. Therefore the underlined words done by me.

Gurok

I suppose trapeze might count as gymnastics and maybe a sport, so I'll ask:

Was she doing a trapeze act?

Pretty small circus, isn't it? I would have thought a circus audience would typically be hundreds of people, if not more than a thousand.

Was she assisting in some kind of stunt, such as acting as the target for a knife thrower?

Kumpel

Not the best circus + a bad day audience-wise + not everyone is yelling at a suspenseful performance + "dozens" is a not defined number beetween 12 and a nice crowd of people imho = :=

So, she was tied to the wheel and started spinning, the knife-thrower put on his blindfold and started throwing the knives, but the assistant panicked and started struggling, which caused the wheel to slow down and stop. The audience started yelling to warn the blindfolded knife-thrower but they were too late and he threw a knife that fatally wounded her.

You don't yet have all the facts to solve it, but there are several aspects right already. Check out the notes in the no area. Maybe it helps to get new informations.

Sinitrena

Was a third person involved in some way?

The  note that it matters that it was a woman confuses me a bit. Therefore: Would it have ended differently if she was male?
And while I'm on this: Is the knife thrower male (and does this matter?)

Did she move when she wasn't supposed to?

Was she blindfolded?
Was the knife thrower blindfolded?

Ok, I have a theory: The assistant was blindfolded and the knife thrower probably too. There was supposed to be some cue to tell her when she was allowed to move again, I'd think the circus band playing a jingle or something like that. It didn't happen as it was supposed to and she moved too early.

Snarky

Was it actually a knife-throwing act?
Did the act involve a feat of strength?
Did the act involve impressive accuracy?
Did the act involve a dangerous object (or objects) of some kind?
Were clowns involved?

Was the victim herself doing anything impressive, not merely playing a part to exhibit the abilities of someone else?

CaptainD

Was the victim the person handing the knives to the thrower, moved behind the thrower who then accidentally managed to throw it backwards at the victim?

Riaise

Sinitrena

Did she put the blindfold on the knife thrower?
Was the knife thrower supposed to be completly blind during the act (as in, normally they cheated and only pretended he was blind)?

Was she tied to something?
Or could she move freely while the knives were thrown?
Mandle mentioned it in his solution but didn't ask: was she tied to a spinning wheel?
If yes, did the thrower tie her up?

Does it matter which knife killed her? (Normally a knive thrower throws more than one.)
Was it the first? Second? Third? Fourth?

Had they done the same act before?
