A cat came in through the window and knocked the fish bowl from the shelf. Fred the fish died when the bowl broke. The cat was startled by the noise and jumped back out the window.
@Mandle - If you substitute the cat it would be spot on.

Keep on investigating!CASE # 5:
Fred was found lying on the floor in a puddle of water - dead.
An open window is to be seen and several glass shards are spread along the ground.
What happened?

Yes
Was Fred an animal?
Is the puddle less than 10cm deep?
Was it an accident?   (presuming you are refering to the death)
Was Fred a fish?
are the shards from an aquarium?
Did he die suddenly?
Did someone or something come in through the window?
Did someone or something exit through the window?
so Fred is a fish and the puddle of water was less than 10 cm so the fish died from suffocation. (main part is solved)
was the aquarium broken by another person?
do we need to know why the aquarium was broken to solve the case? (it's like you don't know why that woman was hit by the knife from the knife-thrower)
Did the aquarium break and Fred died shortly after?
Was the puddle too shallow for Fred
Did a person (kid?) come thru the open window?
Is the window at the ground floor of the building?

No
Did Fred drown?
Are the glass shard from the window?
Was he washing the windows?
Did he die from a fall?
Was the window several floors up?
Was Fred murdered?
Did he commit suicide?
Was he shot?
Did he ingest (drink/eat) glass shards?
Was it raining?
Was Fred human?
Are the shards from a bottle?
Did (whatever it was the shards are from) was destroyed at the same time Fred died?
Natural causes?  (presuming you are refering to the death)
Did Fred work in an aquarium?
Are there any glass cuts on Freds body?
Has the water come out of a waterbed?
Was Fred a burglar?
Was anyone besides Fred hurt or killed?
Did he die from a medical condition (such as of a heart attack)?
Was the puddle there before Fred died?
Was Fred killed by an animal?
A bird?
Did someone try to steal the aquarium with Fred in it?
Was someone moving house and wanted to transport the aquarium?
Did a ball come thru the open window and hit the aquarium?
Did he/she took the ball and left?
Was the fish bowl thrown from the window because someone was having a heated argument?
Did a ball thrown in through an open windows, hit the aquarium, break it, and bounce out again?

Keep on investigating!

Since it is just that one point missing and I still have trouble with my connection I'd like to declare the case solved that you can go on with a new one:

I declare the case solved now and like to call dayowIron the 1st and Mandle the 2nd winner of investigation

… and therefore you/one of you has the prerogative to present the next case

Here's my original solution for case # 5:
A burglar entered the open window to look for valuable things in the room. During his hectic search he accidentally nudges the fish bowl that contains Fred, the goldfish. The bowl fell on the ground and bursts. The burglar was fleeing (because of the noise he made) while Fred miserably stifled.

Case # 5 solved and closed!

Argh... in my original post I typed that it was a burglar but went back and changed it to a cat for some reason...

Anyway, dayowlron is welcome to the next round, unless he doesn't want it in which case I will take over.

So that's a "yes" on the intact body, "no" on the skeleton?
is that a yes or no question? I put it under yes cause that is a true statement. body was not a skeleton.

Okay....So the man was shot and the bullet lodged in his intestinal tract. He survived for long enough to expel the bullet from his anus in his feces before he passed away.

We have a quick winner. Got the inspiration from an NCIS episode. He had gotten sick from being shot which upset his stomach.
