* These questions are on both lists meaning the answer to them is: "Yes and No"

Snarky

OK, so a guy works at a museum, somehow gets transported back in time, is killed in some long-ago war, and his remains are uncovered and brought back to the museum as a display.

Maybe he even digs up his own skeleton, or at least studies it in the museum? Maybe that's how he comes across whatever it is that sends him back in time in the first place?

(The story has some echoes of Lest Darkness Fall by L. Sprague de Camp.)

NightHawk

Was he originally a time traveler?
Are the remains older than 0 A.D.?

Indeed.

Solution:
The man was so in love with the past that he became an archivist at a museum. But this did not feed his obsession with the past enough, so he worked for many years to invent a time machine so he could go back and see it for himself. He travelled back in time over 50,000 years to prehistoric Europe but, unfortunately for him, he appeared right in the middle of a tribal war and was killed before he could escape.

His skeleton was excavated in modern times and was noteworthy enough for its seemingly advanced evolution compared to the many other skeletons dug up at the site that it was put on display at the museum the man worked at (and we can only assume that this man had perfect teeth so had never needed any dental work, nor had badly broken any bones and hadn't needed a metal bolt or plate inserted).

And, yes, the man did indeed work on the skeleton, preparing it for display, and then walking by it every day at work, never suspecting that it was his own.

(I've never read that story though and this case was my original idea, although I did think later that it does bear a resemblance to a sub-plot in the book/movie "Timeline"...)

I declare Snarky head "time-cop", and hand the next case over to him...

Snarky

Anyone else want a go? I feel like I've taken a lot of turns.

As have I, but I mentioned that I had thought up two cases and, as nobody else has jumped in, I'll just hog the next round:

Case #21 - A man makes a phone call. Nobody answers, but the man ends up facing criminal charges because of the call. What's going on?

YES

NO

* These questions are on both lists meaning the answer to them is: "Yes and No"

Tabata

Is he a blackmailer?
Does he do criminal calls?
Is it a case with something fictional involved (i.e. something is getting spaghettified or beamed through time)?
