hi friends :) I have made a new fan-game based on the tv show "Doctor Who" (among others fandoms !). Only in French for the moment. This is the story of Tao, a young shape-shifter Elf who will travel with the Doctor and Missy in order to help people on various worlds, and increase is metamorphosis gift.

EDIT : now available with an English translation made by Paolo :)

I won't be able to play this as my French is atrocious but the graphics look lovely and it's certainly an interesting idea!  Congratulations on the release.

Thank you, I hope you will like it :)

I've had a quick go so far and am enjoying it a lot.  Unfortunately for some reason the sound is not working for me.  I'm wondering how many more famous characters I'll meet, so far Harry Potter, Sherlock Holmes and someone out of Star Wars... ;-D  Lovely graphics btw.

I should have posted this a while back, but anyway:

There are a couple of lines that slipped through the translation. For anyone puzzled by the French lines, here are the English translations:

Talking to W. Whedon in the desert:

French: Crois-moi... je sais de quoi je parle. Je suis à moitié Elfe et moitié Elfe du Feu, et ils se détestent mutuelllement.
English: Believe me... I know what I'm talking about. I am half Elf, half Fire Elf, and they hate each other.

In the café in the human city:

French: Un rat!! Aaah c'est dégoûtant!! Il y a des rats dans ce pub!!
English: A rat!! Argh, it's revolting!! There are rats in this bar!!

I finished the game and I enjoyed it very much. What a great blend of popular fiction ranging from novels to TV and movies! The puzzles, the characters, graphics, animation,  pacing, game length and story are really done well. I'm really glad that Paolo translated it, making it available to the English-only crowd.

I do have to comment that I've never watched Dr. Who and I'm only vaguely aware of the programme, so the TARDIS, Daleks and other references were new to me. Fans of the series might relate to the game differently but as I said, I really enjoyed the game independent of the series.

I only got stuck once, and that's where a number of other players got stuck if you look at the Hints and Tips section. The reason I (and probably the others) got stuck there is
Spoiler: ShowHide
because unlike all other areas of the game, the entrance to the bar is not marked. There's really no way to know that you can enter it

One other comment, if you plan to tweak the game and released it again. There is a possible dead end in the game and I had to reload in order to bypass it.

Spoiler alert!
Spoiler: ShowHide
It is possible to get the water after solving the Sherlock Holmes planet and then go to the Desert planet and then get stuck at the Rancor battle. You can't win unless you've solved the centaur race and you can't leave the battle unless you win.

I don't want to give away more than that but it's important when designing a game that requires you to finish sections in sequence to make sure that the player doesn't get stuck.

Another thing you might want to fix is the Save and Load. It would be better if the player could name the saved games. Otherwise you literally have to memorize where you're at.

Well done!

Thank you very much :) Those are Doctor Who fan-arts I made before the game. Imagining Tao's adventures with the Doctor is one reason I wanted to make that game :)
