Buckethead

Looks like a UT2004 map or something.

Jack

Very nice. Which engine are you using?

Looks great Phemar (nod)
But since this is the blender thread... what did you use to render it with and why did you choose it over Blender? ;)
probably for a game, so he chose some gameengine like unity or unreal engine...

Phemar

Source Engine, for Counter Strike Global Offensive :D

Very nice. Not something I'd be able to do anytime soon.

I fiddled with the planet some more, giving it some needed detail. I'll probably use it like this.

EDIT: This tutorial goes into a lot of detail and achieves a comparable effect (though it sounds like the guy above might have a simpler setup using the principled shader): A Realistic PBR Skin with Subsurface Scattering in cycles.

Supposed to be working on my game but I got carried away working on this character. Nothing like the pros, but I did learn a few things.

EDIT: Some more work. Just a quick nude public selfie. We've all been there.

EDIT: A little more definition for the iris.

Okay, going to stop myself from working on this model now. There's always one more thing to improve.

EDIT: But that doesn't show off the texture of the skin at all really so here is a quick render that does. The next step I would like to take is to adjust the masks for the face to make some areas smoother, like the ears.

Jack

I took a break from working on things over the holidays, then got right back to making this skin shader. But I really do have to stop now.

selmiak

I like the "smaller pores" in the previous version better than the latest version. Maybe get to masking out some areas and mixing these two skin shaders. The lips look pretty good.
The area with the eyes needs some improvements, the eyebrows and the eyelashes both look strange. Are the eyebrows even hair or a texture? And the eyes are too damned dark inside, where there are shadows in the eyes should be white, reflection and some small veins.

Jack

Yeah, the eyebrows and eyelashes are just textures. The lips are unchanged from the very first version.

Neo_One

I made this character, with version 2.79, for my next game.
I'm going to give it a Japanese manga style (which I like so much).

Jack

Very nice. Is it rendered with blender too?

Neo_One

Yeah, it's all done with Blender.

Jack

Is it freestyle which is doing the outlines? Freestyle often misses things, but yours seem really good. Did you render with cycles or blender render?

Neo_One

In Freestyle there is a way not to lose the contours, would be the same as marking seam, except that in this case you have to use the edges menu (ctrl + e) and mark the freestyle edge.
The engine to render that I use the Cycles. I use the gpu (GTX 750) which is faster than the cpu (i5 4460).

Retro Wolf

Anyone ever use Sculptris? I'm not even very good at it but I managed to create a textured alien head fairly quick and easy.

Retro Wolf

Recently found out Blender can do everything Sculptris can, so what's the point?  (laugh)

Always wanted to make an isometric strategy game, here's a biodome sprite!

Jack

Nice. I've wanted to make one too but it always seems too much work for MAGS.
