ah yes i remember now thanks.

Also well done again on the tree and car mouth of war
Hey a suggestion on the car might be to make it in the style of those er, 50/60s cartoons?  so make the whiles tiny tiny,  make the car slightly less in with and scale the top half/cabin part of the car up,  exaggerating these features i think will give that 50s/60s style

I'm so rusted that even to duplicate, extrude or move it, it took me a while to remember how to do it.  :-[

Good picture.  (nod)

Thanks cass,  and yes there is a full blown video editor integrated into blender, its pretty good too

cass, blender is certainly one of those things you forget how to use if you don't use it regularly, I had not done much with blender since early january , and the last project took me a while to relearn things i knew only a few months ago :)

speaking of my last project, the pill thing,  well i made a whole bunch of changes to it . . .

Tweaked the physical lights to make the bevel on the edge of the left (pink) side of the pill more prominent when viewed all around,

Separated the 2099 letters and rotated each one slightly to imply they are floating/suspended in liquid as before it looked a but too rigid

Reduced the CA and BLOOM ever so slightly to reduce that heavy blurring but not so much i loose the feel i was looking for.

Increased the refraction a bit to make the bubbles warp more at the walls of the pill, made the barcode on back glow more to fit in more with the cyberpunk feel

Moved one of the lights directly into the pill, when i first put those particles into the pill i forgot to apply shade smooth in blender before copying them so many times, i noticed in sketchfab when viewing in certain angles some of the bigger particles sparkled a bit because of the hard faces, i wanted to try exaggerate this unintentional effect so i moved a light inside and tweaked a few other settings and now all the particles give off this delightful iridescent magical sparkles , if you zoom in close its more prominent

Added logos to the back of the pill

Fixed some blocky shading near the end of the pink part of the pill with shadow bias tweaks

I thought everything looked a bit to smooth/clear , so i created a normal and spec map and applied this to the pink part of the pill to give it some texture, roughness , as at this scale zoomed in so much you might expect to see some of these features, also i was trying to get a sense of it being a street drug so it might have been in someones pocket or changed hands many times so picked up some tiny scratches etc,

anyway i also wanted to give the clear plasticy/glassy part some texture and make it more frosty looking, but not too much so i distort the inside features too much, so i tweaked a bit with normal's and spec/clear coat with the textures i prepared.

Anyhoo I am done with this one now, it was fun playing around with it.

thanks so much mouth of war :)

I have decided to enter this contest here:
https://sketchfab.com/blogs/community/sketchfab-august-challenge-treasure-chest/

Would love to see a few from ags enter too, though bare in mind it has to be presented on sketchfab and not a regular blender render or whatever.

Can anyone find a way to unlock this chest?

Please post a comment if you find a way to unlock the chest, To find the way, everything you need to know is before you and inside you.

I had intended to timelapse this whole project, but kept forgetting to activate my timelapse recorder, but here is a short video showing the making of the galaxy itself.

I love all the abstract stuff. Is anyone here using Blender for 2D animation? I'm very impressed with the new Grease Pencil tools, and with new features like interpolation I could see it working really well for creating point and click animation without having to shell out for something like Toonboom.

Thankyou Ali, they are really fun to make,  I might have a bash at trying to sell them on sketchfab soon.
I have not tried doing anything 2D in blender at all, still very much learning the basics. And I have not used the grease pencil thing at all,  it looks cool though.

Haven't tried the grease pencil either, but doubt I could produce any decent 2D graphic with just a mouse to draw with.

Keep them coming Tycho! Only other Blender abstract  cra... errmm... artist that I know is selmiak.  (nod)

My newest Blender stuff is plastered all over my newest game "Trade it forward". But I was neither friends with Eevee nor Cycles this time around.  :( Think I need to stop using those cool materials from BlenderKit, they are way too heavy (read good quality) and my poor computer and GC can't handle them. Think I would have saved time making my own materials as I usually do, than waiting forever to see it render (if it didn't crash).
