<<  COLORING BALL: SOMETHING FISHY  >>

One evening in the early 90s. You're about to close your photo shop when Duane Henderson, a regular customer, comes in.
He looks very excited and hands you a film.

"I was taking pictures near the lake when something sprang out of the water. By the time I removed my eye from the viewfinder, it was gone. Yet I am confident that I captured it on film."

"Let's find out", you answer while heading to the darkroom.

Color the black shape to reveal Duane's catch.

[imgzoom]http://creamy.r.c.f.unblog.fr/files/2018/10/shape.png[/imgzoom]

You may:
- Rotate the shape 90, 180, 270 degrees;
- Flip the shape horizontally or vertically;
- Color the outline;
- Use animation;
- Submit as many items as you wish;

Restictions:
- Do not rescale the shape.
- Only use the Mattel Aquarius color palette:

Cool idea for a theme creamy, but bad choice for a palette. The Mattel Aquarius palette is ugly. So to make good use of it is quite the challenge.
Well, to kick this colorin ball off easy I thought I'd start with the obvious use of the shape. Here we see a rare but hungry blue sea cucumber that spills its innards to the outside to catch its prey with the sticky slimy surface of its own stomach. There is only so much you can do when you don't have teeth!

Can we really call this palette ugly? Probably :=

I wanted to level the playing field for people who can't draw.

If I were to participate this would result in an ugly drawing in ugly colours.

The idea is more important than the execution in this round.

Hmm - not sure what it is myself - maybe a mermaid-ghost?

       Happy Halloween!

I'm a bit confused by how the palette is presented - it's 15 colours in total, right?

Making a colour palette from the given image you get them:

You'll never cease to amaze me Tabata ;-D

Yes. That's strange because according to Wikipedia:
QuoteDisplay: 40x24 text, 80x72 graphics, 16 colors

Maybe the system didn't draw black but just left these pixels dark, resulting in black?

In Tabata's palette, you can see 15 colors with black included.

Here is the chart for the Aquarius palette. They count black twice apparently.

"Of course not! It must be a chameleon fish."

"Hey Pearl, do you know if there are any chameleon fishes in Ohio?"

Yeah, you told me that in a dream the night before I painted the image, don't you remember? This is exactly the reason I did draw it this way ;-D

Due to professional constraints, I am forced to move to another town on very short notice (i.e. tomorrow 8-0 ). Because I don't have internet yet in my new flat, I won't be able to run the end of the contest. I've asked Insomnia to take up the torch yesterday.

Cassiebsg

Oh, good luck with the move and fingers crossed that you soon get internet (it's a life essential after all!)
There are those who believe that life here began out there...

- "What's that in the sky?"  ???

- "Looks like some kind of inter-dimensional portal from a tv show!" :cool:

- "Wait... Is that... a horse head coming through?" 8-0

Sorry for the BG, I'm still not getting how to set Alpha in GraphicGale! :-[

I've always struggled with this as well. I found one method that sort of works though:

- "Magic wand" all the pink
- Imags > Make alpha channel
- Invert alpha channel if it got inverted
- save as new file.

This is the only method I ever got to work, here's your image:
