On 11th November seven #indiedevs are joining forces to release a bundle on Itch:
- the Super Comedy Adventure Bargain Bundle!

Today the first game was announced - Captain Disaster in: Death Has A Million Stomping Boots.

I will announce the next game tomorrow. Trying to build suspense and all that! rolleyes

Not all games in this bundle are made with AGS, but our beloved Adventure Game Studio is very well represented amongst the bundled...

CaptainD

The second SCABB game is The Adventures of Bertram Fiddle.

Frodo

The first 2 games are impressive - can't wait to see what else is in the bundle.   :cheesy:

Roll on 11 November.

lorenzo

Great idea!
I have played Captain Disaster in: Death Has A Million Stomping Boots and it's a fantastic game: great puzzles and very funny. I wholeheartedly recommend it!

I don't know the other game, but it looks really nice.
Can't wait to know the rest of the rest of the bundle!

CaptainD

@Frodo - hope you're not disappointed!  May be a surprise or two in there for you?
@TheFrighter - sorry mate, but still 5 chances of games you don't have...
@lorenzo - thanks for the kind words mate!

CaptainD

Ready for game number 3?

I bet ThrFrighter already owns it (clearly has impeccable taste!  ;-D)

It's none other than the...

Pointy
Clicky
  Kicky
   Punchy
    Dancey
     Eat Oriental noodlesy

Legend of Hand!

Privateer Puddin'

CaptainD

Thanks Tom!

I can now reveal the fourth game - the very, very retro and quite, quite wonderful The Beard In The Mirror!

CaptainD

The penultimate game is...

Yet Another Hero Story - a classic point and click adventure set in a fantasy, cartoon world.

Stupot

This is cool. I've played a couple of these but it's worth getting the bundle for the ones I haven't.

Frodo

A brilliant collection of games.

And even better - they're DRM-free.

Can't wait for 11 November, so I can buy them.   :cheesy:

lorenzo

Nice selection of games! Doubly so, because I only own Captain Disaster!

ManicMatt

Frodo and Lorenzo - Honestly I'm tempted by the bundle myself and I already own Captain D and I made one of the other games as seen in my signature!

Here's a convenient playlist for all 7 trailers!

CaptainD

I own 3 and made one, and I'm still planning on buying the bundle! Which either means it's crazily good value or simply that I'm crazy.

ManicMatt

Durq

I own just one, so I can't wait to get SCABB all over me.

I picked that SCABB

Itch.io charged me extra VAT on top of the purchase price though, which is annoying.

Sorry about that, it just depends on where you live and we can't do anything about it.  (In fact Shaun and I have both bought the bundle ourselves and been charged tax!).

Looking at the sales so far it charges you tax in the UK, but  not in Hong Kong or Germany for some reason!

Bandcamp does this too, it's an annoyance all right. But I bought it this morning from itch.io too and I got charged exactly $9.99. Maybe it's because my IP is German, or because I said I live in Vanuatu and there's no VAT there :-D (Sorry, I'm not giving out my real address!)

lorenzo

Bought it!

I also got charged VAT. :-X

CaptainD

@Laura Hunt - it's okay, we're not going to stalk you and try to find out your true address!  (laugh)
@Lorenzo - aw dude I see it even charge you an extra 20 cents on top of the UK tax!   :~(  Good job this bundle is such good value that it's STILL great value after the added stuff...  ;)

Thanks everyone who has bought the bundle already, wherever you hail from and whether Itch decided to tax you or not ;-D

CaptainD

Okay weird, someone from Germany just bought and was charged tax.  I have no idea what the system is and I can't find specific details in Itch's documentation - all I know is that you may be charged around $2 tax, you may not.   ???

I think these extra little tax payments are related to VAT MOSS. I remember itch having to add this a few years ago. From memory it only applies to EU sales. It helps itch/developers ascertain if tax is due in certain countries.

I might be wrong!

Thanks for the purchases so far!!!  :-D :-D :-D

Maybe that was me, but I thought it was okay. This bundle is worth it.
I also wrote a little news article on a german gaming website about your bundle:
https://www.gamersglobal.de/news/166523/scabb-sieben-indie-adventures-in-einem-neuen-bundle

Good luck with you sales!

ManicMatt

Thanks to everyone who has bought or is going to buy the bundle! I do wish itch would be clearer on the tax. Still, we see a better percentage of the money on itch than selling anything on Steam.

Thanks The Last to Know! From what I can tell, point and clicks are very popular in Germany! I might have asked this before but is your avatar drawn by the artist who does the album covers for KMFDM?

My avatar is from an album by Faith No More called King for a Day... Fool for a lifetime.
The cover art is taken from a graphic novel called Flood: A Novel in Pictures by Eric Drooker.
I googled for some KMFDM album covers and I see the resemblance. Google also told me that the artist of the KMFDM album covers is Aidan Hughes.
So, I guess the answer is no.

ManicMatt

Oh yeah I've seen that album cover before as well! I only have a few songs by em off The Real Thing, and a couple of songs from Nevermen of which the lead singer is a part of.

Okay back on topic, naughty Matt!

SCABB! A nod to both Monkey Island and LucasArt's naming of stuff like SCUMM.

CaptainD

SCABB got 2 great write-ups today:

https://www.wraithkal.com/scabb-bundle/

https://xgeeks.co.uk/2019/11/14/scabb-super-comedy-adventure-bargain-bundle-review/

From the latter:

“If you enjoy point and click games or like to help out independent game designers and studios, then this bundle will make a welcome addition to your collection! The games may differ in story and design, but what they have in common is great storytelling, warm humour and are very enjoyable to play! So why don't you go on an adventure today?”

Durq

Purchased the bundle and started playing Trails and Traces. It's engaging right off the bat! The voices are quite entertaining.

ManicMatt

Wow, out of the six games you haven't played, you chose mine first! I'm honored!

Thanks! I voiced all the characters except for five of them. ^_^

Only a few hours left  8-0

Time flies when you're picking scabbs!!!

Stupot

How did you do sales wise?
I almost forgot but I bought one a couple of days from the deadline.

CaptainD

From the perspective of it only being on Itch, not bad at all. But none of us will be retiring just yet!  :-D. (maybe in another couple of hundred years...)
