Aha. Thanks for that, Snarky.
Well done heltonjon for beating me to it and to Riaise who was also on the right track.

I honestly wouldn’t be surprised if some grandparents have received some unexpected ‘visits’ recently.

Your explanation though, Snarky, seems to contradict this question which you filed under ‘no’:
Did the murderer take the pills before carrying out the crime?

If it was to suppress the symptoms, surely would have taken them before the visit?

Snarky

Yeah, seems like I placed that one wrong. When I was composing the response I scanned the post quickly and thought they were all false except the first one, and just grabbed them all in one go. Sorry about that â€" fortunately it was at the very end so it didn't matter too much.

Cassiebsg

Do people take them in 2s?   (roll) Damn, I never got that memo.... Need to take notice of it.  (laugh)

Actually (as far as I remember) here in Denmark, they do not recommend any pills if you have mild symptoms of covid-19... I think they don't want people to do exactly what the murderer did, and then spread the virus. Just stay home until 48 hours after symptoms have stopped.

Ahhhhh nice topical case, Snarky!

Was Hydroxychloroquine taken on the advice of Donald J. Trump?

Haha, didn't expect this to be somewhat close  :=

heltenjon

Okay, I'll try to think up something. I haven't checked the earlier 58 cases you've solved, so I'll pull one out of my mind and see how it goes.

Case #60
We're in the home of Anna and Fred. There is a dead body in the kitchen. The breakfast is still on the table. The water is running from the tap in the kitchen sink. The doors in the apartment are left open, except the front door. There's a official-looking letter on the fridge door.

What has happened? Who is the killer and the victim?

CaptainD

Is the dead body Anna?
Is the dead body Fred?
Are Anna and Fred both human?

Snarky

Woo-hoo, new case!

Is the dead body the victim?
Is Anna the killer?
Is Fred the killer?
Apart from the dead body, is there anybody else in the apartment?

Stupot

Did somebody drown?
Did something drown? (E.g. an animal)
Had the kitchen flooded?
Did Anna and Fred run away from something?
We’re there really 59 cases before this?

Riaise

Firstly, good case, Snarky! It may have looked like I knew where it was headed, but I actually didn't have a clue right up until the end. I was just stumbling about blindly and got lucky with the questions that I asked. ;)

So, on to the next case! :-D

Is the dead body human?
Is the letter on the fridge door open?
Is the letter addressed to Anna?
Is the letter addressed to Fred?

Did the dead body die from gas inhalation?
Is the letter on the fridge an unopened notice from the gas department that services will be resumed this morning?
Did they try to turn on their gas oven burners while service was disconnected but forget to turn them off again when they didn't work?
Did the couple notice a pet keel over and die halfway through breakfast (preparation?) and evacuated through the back door?

heltenjon

#71
You took good steps right away, so I think you'll work this one out in no time. I can divulge that I have sort of set this in a Scandinavian setting, where gas ovens are far between, but I don't really think that has much to say in the matter of working out what has happened.

Not relevant to the case: Were there really 59 cases before this?

I guess so, because Snarky named his #59.

Did the accident occur as Anna was making breakfast?
Was Fred inside some sort of equipment or device for preparing or preserving food/drink?
Did Anna read the letter?
If Anna had read the letter beforehand, would the accident have occurred?

Is Fred recognizable in his current state?
Does the apartment allow pets?
Is the letter from the landlord regarding the no-pet policy?
Did Anna try hiding Fred somewhere?

Ian Aloser

I love this riddle,
but i ask only two questions :
Is Anna human ? (seems not clear to me yet )
It's Fred's and Anna's home , is it also someone else's home ?
