It is mostly a collage. The rest was done in 2d painting (gimp)

I call it "Don't Leave Me".

Without colors and at this resolution, it's hard to form an opinion.

Sarlacc pit in front of stairs?

KyriakosCH

Something similar... It only exists in this scale - because the monster was mostly collaged-in (although altered to a significant degree; the original looked more like an angry ant :) ).

It's supposed to be something which keeps you in the basement, because it can't be alone.

Creepiness factor doubled when I realised it had eyes.

They are very small, probably it is almost blind :)

Blondbraid

Some sort of centipede creature gaping at the onlooker?

KyriakosCH

Yes. It is blocking the ladder, so you can't leave the basement.

So why are we in the basement in the first place?

SÃ¥ you (couriosity) killed the cat, went to the digital basement to bury it, and the way upstairs turned out to be bugged. 8-)

KyriakosCH

Sometimes you feel the need to retreat to your basement.
But you may never manage to return  (nod)

I like the feel of it as a memorable monster but the position directly in center frame feels a little deliberate and jump-scarish to me.

The scariest monsters to me, are always the ones you just barely notice at the side of the frame. Because it's like you're just noticing them from the corner of your eye.

KyriakosCH

The whole point is that it doesn't want you to leave, so it had to be visible.
That said... it's not like this is some masterpiece or anything  :=
I may try more stuff in the future, I am not good at this as things stand.

The most scariest thing about it to me is that I have absolutely no idea what it is, thus adding a kind of Lovecraftian vibe to it.

The creepiest monsters always tap into our sense of "What the...? This ain't right!"

Fideos333

oh! I really like it!
As scary as it would be to find them in the basement, I kind of love them too. Like, I'd give them a hug and tell them how good they are <3

I don't know what I'm supposed to see/interpret this as, but I think it's a tiny monkey shi... sitting on ET's finger.

KyriakosCH

Pretty much. Although it's not tiny nor a monkey, and that isn't ET.
