Hello folks,

I've happened by this jam page about an “Adventure Jam 2021”, scheduled to start in eight days, on May 7th (I'm neither organizer nor moderator).

Is any AGSer participating?
Is it worthwhile?
Do you have any experiences to share about that jam?

Edit: Just a short note/reminder that this jam will start in about 1 ½ days, on May 8, 1 o'clock Berlin time.

Hi, Fernewelten!

I haven't joined that specific game jam before. According to the page, it has been running since 2015 and I'm sure I played some of the entries. There were a lot of games made in the previous competitions (see the bottom of the FAQ here). It seems quite popular.

I was thinking of participating in it if I have enough time in those two weeks. I took part in two different game jams last year and they were fun and challenging. You also get to interact with other game developers and usually receive some feedback too.
It's not unlike MAGS, but you're given less time to make your game and it includes non AGSers.

I'm considering it, but I'm afraid I won't have enough time over those two weeks.

Lorenzo and myself are entering it :) I have done the story and will do the coding, he does all the art. That's very exciting!

I paused my current project for it. If our planning is correct we will have the game ready by the end of the jam.

Why not enter AdventureJam and MAGS at the same time (https://www.adventuregamestudio.co.uk/forums/index.php?topic=59077.0)

The theme for MAGS this month is "Growing". If you can make your AdvJam game about growing (and make it in AGS) then there's nothing to stop you from entering it into MAGS too.

That's actually what I did in 2015. The theme for MAGS was "sleeping", so I made Power Nap and entered it into both.

A little update: development is doing very well! Just a few days in we have been able to create a lot of things. Also, more importantly, we find that we work very well together and have a very good working routine. I actually wrote about it in the GameJolt page about the game, you can read here because I will put more updates as we go, it's my first game jam so I'm excited to share about it: https://gamejolt.com/games/trappist1/615005 and because the size of the posts are very limited, I put more details on my blog: https://formosafalanster.wordpress.com/2021/05/11/so-i-entered-a-game-jam/

What's interesting is that Lorenzo and I first contacted each other to express mutual appreciation at each other's games, and then our conversation grew into working together. So I guess we can thank AGS for introducing us!

You know, it's actually not a bad idea... At first I thought maybe it was not honest to enter it but since you're inviting us I guess it's appropriate. And come to think of it, it is sort of about growing... I don't know, maybe it's a stretch, but then again the theme of "growing" has a very wide scope. Tell you what, I will put the game for MAGS, and if you guys feel it was not fitting in the theme you can just vote against the game!
