Sphonx - Science Fiction meet Ancient Egypt
« on: 01 Dec 2021, 14:27 »

Sphonx lets you discover scientifically advanced technology and antique artifacts on an archaeological expedition in an ancient egyptian pyramid. You are Ignacio "Iggy" Dias, a young and interested archaeologist in the near future. He helps Dr. Allan Nowicz, an experienced scientist and archaeologist who was involved in the development of some of the most advanced technological breakthroughs in recent archaelogy. He is leading the current research on the dig site and he's also managing the buerocratic side of the expedition in Egypt today. Dr Nowicz is very proud to have a Death Erasing Multispectral Ultrawave Mummified Material Igniter Ray Device with him on this site. It's purpose is to revive even partially conserved cells in old, very old and even ancient egyptian tissue and give it back its previous human form.

Of course, such advanced technology needs careful use and planned application. So Dr Nowicz wants to wait for Dr Sebranovic to arrive, the spiritual and logical father of the very advanced tissue reviving device. Ignacio Dias, a studious but a bit clumsy apprentice working for Dr Nowicz instead wants to finally see results and start the live study of ancient life with support of the DEMUMMI-RAY rather yesterday than waiting even longer.
Tension between the two clashing opinions escalates and late at night Iggy sneaks into the excavation / laboratory deep inside the darkest parts of the age-old pyramid only to get involved in a centuries spanning adventure.

Playtime is still manageable in one to two lunch breaks...

I can see that you added the screenshots but they aren't loading for me.

The first image (hosted on img.itch.zone) is loading in fine but the ones from toxictuba.com are not (devtools saying "net::ERR_CERT_AUTHORITY_INVALID").

I'm guessing your server doesn't allow remote links like that.

Either way, please find a way to make 'em show up in here!

Oh and good luck with the game's production!

Good to see you back.

Is there a link with Eternal Chrysalis?

hey creamy! :D
this basically is the long awaited Eternal Chrysalis Deluxe with improved graphics, higher res characters, more rooms, more dialogs and interactions, a longer intro, more puzzles and completely voiced. you could say that MAGS entry has become a game now... well, once it is complete and released... the plan is to make this happen before the 10 year anniversary!
And to answer what you probably ask yourself now, yes, of course a similar treatment is planned for Black Morph too, but this game is not even finished yet and I want to make a game with blender graphics, no idea where my priorities then are once this is done... but I should add it to the database and grab some Demo awards nominations :) The way this works is to make a new database entry for the demo and then another one for the full game?

If you want the Demo awards nominations, you should do that. Only games/demos in the database are eligible for the awards. Most people only post their demos in this (games in production) thread, though, which means they miss out on potential nominations.

I guess that Commercial games, which automatically has a "download demo" option could possibly get demo awards nominations, but they seldom do.

Great to see this in development! There's certainly some potential here, the tech demo already featured some awesome visual effects and solid voices, eager to see more.

I'm very glad you like the demo so far!
Here is a small update, the last update this year:

of course all expensive and advanced scientific equipment is secured with a code and you have to crack that as you are not allowed to use it.

Input of digits, deletion of number sequence and detection of the correct code works.

I played the demo, and although short (tutorial length), it shows good promise. The game looks and sounds good, and the characters are getting on each other's nerves in an entertaining way. So far it looks more like you are going to play with the known tropes than trying to be extremely original, but the title of this thread tells me there may be more to come.  ;) Good job!
