@Monsieur OUXX, thank you! I'm not a professional developer/designer, so all feedback to improve is more than welcome. Would you mind me asking you some questions to make sure I understand you correctly?

I assume you are looking at the light theme? My aim was to modernise the light theme, but keeping the old look & feel. I appreciate I have made wrong decisions.

I regret that the theme is progressively moving away from the powerful blue of the old blue cup (electric blue, royal blue) and is now mostly de-saturated, grayish blue. Even the cup. That old royal blue was giving a strong visual identity to AGS.

Can you give the colour code of what you call electric blue/royal blue? I'm using exactly the same colours as on the current site?
Light theme:
- Primary colour: #435DBA (header colour from current site)
- Primary colour variant: #7BB2F7 (cup colour current site)
- Secondary colour/call to action: #EE8636 (link colour current site)
- Background colour: #FFFFFF (background current site)
- Background colour variant: #DEEDFF (alternating background current site)

The action buttons must be of your "brand" color (i.e. royal blue); then you can choose another fitting color when hovered (e.g. orange) -- in other words : flip the theme. Every other semi-important element must be in a "trimmed down" version of your brand color -- which means that no banner should be royal blue (as seen on the Play page); that's where the less powerful grayish blue should be used.

I used this CTA principle, used at previous employers:

There is one condition which is vital to keep in mind while choosing colors for CTA: buttons and background colors should be contrasting enough so that CTAs would stand out from the other UI components. For example, if a designer uses the blue color palette for the layout, it would be a good idea to use red or yellow color for CTA buttons.

as the motivation between my orange choice. Also, because there's no mouse-over on mobile, I was worried that the branding would look very bland, being all shades of blue?

Lacking better ideas, I made the border thicker (actually duplicated the logo, moved it back, filled it and outset the path 2 and 3 times, respectively)

1)

2)

Edit: I had another idea and removed all outlines and changed the color depending on the theme:

3)

Original for comparison:

I think I like 1 light and 3 dark best.

Opinions?

Ponch

I like option 2, Cat.

tampie85

I agree with you cat, I like 1 light and 3 dark best

Okay, here are just the logos:

Could you try them within the webpage if they are okay or if they need further adjustments? Are the colours correct?

The single cup replacing the font awesome one could be just the cup from 3 light, maybe with the tag a bit bigger or alternatively without the tag.

They're on there. Somehow the black one seems to be larger? I use the same html, but I might not use the right style (I'll move it to the css file once it's right). Any suggestions are welcome.

For the header:
Code: html

<img style="image-rendering: smooth; height:125px" src="/assets/img/logo_dark.svg" alt="Adventure Game Studio" title="Adventure Game Studio">
<img style="image-rendering: smooth; height:125px" src="/assets/img/logo_light.svg" alt="Adventure Game Studio" title="Adventure Game Studio">

For the footer:
Code: html

<img style="image-rendering: smooth; height:23px" src="/assets/img/logo_dark.svg" alt="Adventure Game Studio" title="Adventure Game Studio">
<img style="image-rendering: smooth; height:23px" src="/assets/img/logo_light.svg" alt="Adventure Game Studio" title="Adventure Game Studio">

Dark theme: https://new-site.adventuregamestudio.co.uk/?theme=dark

Ah, I understand. I just selected every part of the logo and shrunk the picture to match it. Since the dark one does not have a border it is a different size now. I replaced the dark logo to be the same size as the light one. Please replace it and it should work now. Sorry for providing the wrong image.

No need to say sorry at all! I saved the files again from your post at 19:49 (after refreshing) and uploaded them.

I tried to make sure there's no caching going on, but I seem to see the same size of the images?
Do you see the same? I might be doing something wrong; this might not the best way to define the size of the svg as it's not an image.

Never mind! I just realised the width is different because the spacing between the letters is different. What do you think about how it looks? Are you happy with it?

cat

The light and dark svgs should be exactly the same size now (the dark one with transparent space around the letters). If they are still different, you have a caching issue. Try ctrl F5.

tampie85

Ugh I hate it when chrome does that. Sometimes it caches stuff that should be cleared with ctrl+F5. It looks good in Firefox indeed. I think it looks good. Are you happy with it too?

Frodo

I like Option 2 best.

But I have to ask again... could you turn the cup round so the handle is on the left?

cat

Okay, I will also provide the logo for option 2, we can have a voting then.

No, because we settled on the version that got most votes. Now it is only about making the logo look nice depending on the background.

Yeah, I think a left sided handle was one of the choices among the versions, and the right sided handle won.

Still, the handle being on the right is probably the better choice. The handle is on the right in the current logo with Larry holding it, in the icon for the software, and on all of blue cup emoticons in this forum. Not to mention that most people are right handed and are therefore used to the handle being on the right. (As a leftie, I'm personally used to the handle being on the left.)

The result of the follow up voting was quite clear, so this is the new AGS logo:

I love how this logo was a community effort:

tampie85 made the new site design and decided on the colors
I came up with a first draft
Crimson Wizard had the idea of filling the cup with blue
LimpingFish brought up the small caps
zabnat suggested the rounded cup
The tea label is from one of the previous AGS program icons
And Besh finally came up with the awesome idea of using the cup as "U"

Apart from that so many people provided other ideas, drafts and suggestions which inspired further designs. Thanks to everyone who participated in the process!
