CJ should make a Compact Disc game pack with (more or less) all AGSgames (exept the moneycosting ones like "fatman" and the developers that doesn't want their game in the pack), "how to make adventures yourself" tutorials, wallpapers, and all the cool junk...

the price could be like 10 quid. that way he would make some money (make more AGS stuff), other games, websites and developers would get promoted. it's a win-freakin'-win-situation baby! :o

I disagree with you, and I'm sure CJ is also. Not on the fact that it would be nice to make a cd with all kinda ags-games on it, but on the fact that CJ doesn't do it apparently for the cash. I'm sure that when CJ would make a topic that he need $400 to pay his bills, that he could easily recieve it from all our gifts!

I like the idea. If we are going to do this it should be a 2 year long process so we can finish our games and their bugs. And where would we sell it? Ebay? I'm shure I could see some here for $5 or so...

I thought I saw a CD for sale one time with some AGS games on it. I don't even remember what games they were; it had probably less than half a dozen, and I don't think I found it through this site. They were mostly pretty well-known games (among the AGS community anyway) by notable authors. Anyone know what I'm talking about? It was a while ago.

I second that.

AGS has always been free. When we used to be housed on ezboard, vomel invested the cash to remove the pop-ups. But at no point did Chris ask or even suggest that people pay for this.

And now AGS has it's own host and forums, all paid for by Chris unless I'm mistaken.

Bear in mind that this guy had his car windscreen held in with tape at Mittens 2002!

If at any point Chris gives us the opportunity to donate cash to this project, I will be willing to sign up.

Not everyone could afford to / be able to give money, but those who could, should and would.

Remember that Chris doesn't do this for Free - it costs him money.

I think compilation CDs might be good, but definitely not for the money.

Even though the CDs are not of a commercial approach, I think people using AGS to create their free games might not like that their creations are used to raise money for Pumaman to buy some beers. Think about it, if the fees are just charged for the essential stuffs (postage, the CD, cases, etc.) then it is okay, and a good idea too. But just for Pumaman to get more money? No way.

If you really want to give something to our kind Pumaman and thank him for his marvelous work, just make a game, or send some money or your girl friend directly to him.

Just to clarify, I have no problem whatsoever with commercial projects, nor do I have a problem with someone putting together a compilation, as long as the author gives permission to do so.

Maybe CJ should think about selling some advertising space or something on the site (related stuff only, of course, and NO POPUPS!

) I could use the traffic.
Well, not really, but it's a good excuse to support AGS, now that we don't have the luxury of the EZBoard donate thingy which CJ couldn't refuse.

Then burn them onto a CD -- it's a lot cheaper than Chris buying the CD, burning them and shipping it to you.

Besides, Chris probably has more important things to do that burning heaps of collectors CDs.

Thanks - I appreciate that, and everyone else who has offered to donate money towards AGS. It's amazing how generous you guys are.

However, as I've said many times, cash is not my motivation to work on AGS, and I'd feel guilty taking any money for it.

On the other hand, at some point in the future, if I was unemployed and struggling for cash, I wouldn't rule out accepting donations.

One reason that he may not want us to pay is that he does get something back from us - our games. Also, he considers many people from this community (especially the Mitteners) to be his friends, and would feel guilty taking money from them.

Of course I could be wrong. He could just have some deep psychological trauma related to his mother nailing him to the wall as a child or something. I don't know.
