I'll have a look, thank you.

Hi,

Is there a way to use the ags engine to make an exclusively online game (even if it is a simple tetris style thing) or do the files always have to be downloaded?

Thanks

Happy new year :)

You keep referring to loans as if the new austerity measures are the only thing Greece will do to pay them off. What about import- export  deals, military deals, political deals, legislative deals, foreign affairs and god knows what else. I don't think there is a country who lends another country money just because they have a good heart. The money they lend will come back to them in multiple ways, or they wouldn't do it.

Or you really believe the austerity measures are the only thing the countries who give the loans will ask Greece to do??? Do you really believe that credit organisations play it hard just to save the euro or they wait until Greece is in such a state of (self-inflicted, it's true) chaos that will say yes to everything and sell its citizens short?

I don't say Greece didn't make mistakes. On the opposite, the last years were full of bad decisions or simply self-interest decisions. I just hope this golden opportunity to speculate and make money using Greece's bad reputation won't end up destabilising the region instead of its economy only.

I personally think they got what was coming to 'em! Live large and you have to pay for it eventually. All those olympics 'n such are a real money-leeching-operation.

Don't believe everything you read in the international Press ;)
Just because a couple of countries with imminent elections describe it as "living large" for their own internal politics, doesn't mean its true for all those lower and middle-class people that don't live large but are punished as if they did.

PS. The Olympics were the only means of pressure to some companies to finish projects (roads, bridges etc) that have been under construction for ages. It was a good thing, in the big scheme of things.

I hust hope Greece won't get both the riots and the bankruptcy.
From what I see, there are more political games than the situation can take and there are of course the organisations and individuals inside and ouside Greece who make crazy money because of this and will keep feeding the fire.

It may seem that the Greeks demonstrate once every few days and make riots out of habit, but although it's partly true (political games again and again), there are actually very good reasons for the people to be unhappy and not only in the last six months. The truth is not always what the foreign press conveys to their countries.

That said, fighting the over-the-top and unrealistic (since they never touch the rich and the guilty) measures is one thing, killing people just because they don't want (or can't afford) to go on strike is despicable.

Going on strike is a constitutional right, but making a living and disagreeing with some political parties is also a constitutional right and nobody in a democracy  is allowed to force their opinions on others, let alone to murder them.

I liked the movie but some times immersion was lost, especially with things that were supposed to come towards you... or the front objects were too 'front' in an unnatural way, like they were stuck in your eye not just within your view limits. The story was quite predictable, but the lines were well written, which sort of corrects it.

To be honest, I only concentrated on the "mistakes" because of the critics and marketing craze. It wasn't a boring movie.

Overall impression, the graphics were beautiful (especially the live plants and the lighted things) and the real actors were also good.

I couldn't decide if I watch Avatar or not, because I asked 20 people and they had 20 different opinions, mostly bad...but none of those people is related to graphics in any way.
I still can't decide, but I notice that people who say bad things about avatar are mostly the amaters of teh classic cinema, with flesh and all.

I guess I'm going to see it around Christmas.

First, because new styles are invented every day.
Second, because some older players consider themselves too old to play and young players have met the newer kinds of games first and stick to them.

uncle-mum because it was the most different.
I enjoyed all entries, though, can I give more than one vote?

I never thought it was a big deal.
Storms cut the electricity? I use batteries. No hot water in the pipes? I boil some. No TV? I read a book at the lamplight.

But this was getting insane. I mean, it has been going on for days. I am constantly pinching myself, because this has to be a dream ...and a bad one. My friend wants to watch TV? Fine, takes the remote, presses a couple of buttons...and there you are. I go and sit on the couch to watch, too? Everything goes black. Are people driving home? Fine. Am I trying to get in the car with them or drive? The motor dies, the doors lock, the radio goes silent.

I have been living off biscuits and dry cereals. The milk turned sour with the fridge not working, the chesse smells, the juices are lukewarm... I live in the dark form sunset to dawn, the lights refuse to get switched on. The only music is the one I hum. the only heat is from the sun...and it has been raining.

I have been talking to myself for days. People stopped visiting, I have no means to go to work, the phone went dead, the computer went dead...

It has to be a dream, appliances don't get switched on and off at will without a central control system, plugs don't get unplugged, bulbs don't break when you look at them.

I didn't intend to play the renegade.  I search my memory for similar data. I only find blank space, my mind has been malfunctioning for a while. All circuits work fine, only the stem cells deteriorate. That's an easy fix, but I wonder how long will I last without power.

Maybe if I left? Would I be able to pass as a person?
Tough call, but what's left to do?

whose authors have long since forgotten them and will not be backing them up or moving them elsewhere.

That's why I posted it, to be honest. I would be one of those users if I hadn't seen that info.

That's why I liked it.

Good riddance if you ask me. I've honestly detested Geocities for a long time now. Granted it does provide an inconvenience to anyone actually using it for hosting, but there are honestly much better free hosts out there.

I partly agree.
As for me, I took the easy way and use yahoo small business for my normal files and pages I use for work and such.
But I have my AGS files hosted on a free Geocities place and now I must move them.

I thought the earlier people know it the better. I found out by sheer luck myself.

I found this information on another site and I thought members who use it to host their AGS games and walk-throughs should have a look at this page

I am not sure if games are getting worse or game industry gets lazy.
I don't mind realism, but I want a scenario-like game (I liked the longest journey) or a game that is not only shoot-shoot-shoot but "shoot in a context" (I liked mohaa).

I think the new games are just half-finished. Somebody spends for graphics and the like but no one is paid enough to actually sit down and create them.

I'd like it a bit darker, this light blue it is not so easy to read, in my opinion.

Ok... apparently now nobody agrees with the riots.

I didn't post this ''now'', as you seem to imply, but way earlier. I reread it and find nothing that suggests I like this mess.

@all
I'd better post less in this thread as this issue is quite close to my heart and  I feel I can't be polite enough to continue. My inbox is always available though and I'll answer direct questions in this thread when I see them.

@Nacho for specific questions and @all for generic topic

I am not leftist. Or anarchist. Or "antisystem".  I didn't go to the streets. Not even as a student. On the opposite, I did the cowardly thing: I fled the country when I realised we'd have the same type of government for another four years. Not much of a rioter, am I? I don't think violence is the solution. I believe rioters will only cause more violence. I also believe that police violence was the excuse, not the cause of the riots. The cause is in everyday struggling to make the ends meet. Or even some laws that people think hurt their dignity.

I think I have stated the above multiple times in this thread. It pains me to see my country like this and to watch and hear and read all the biased BS of several foreign news agencies of several countries because of that. But we, at least, solve our problems within our own country. Well, most of the time :P

Now, apart from justification or not of the riots, there is the very big and important aspect of this issue: current local politics. You feel for the people who saw their property stolen,  smashed and burnt, but you maybe don't know that people's property and businesses, health system, education and so on were already on the verge of chaos anyway.

Again, this is a continuous situation than in my opinion, only education and a change of mentality can solve. When the greeks will realise that selling your vote for a job in the public sector or for *disappearance* of your illegal parking ticket is not an honourable thing to do, then maybe the situation will get better.

I am waiting for this crisis to end with no further damage. I am hoping people will find a less loud and more efficient way to protest. A civilised' way, if you like. But, although I find premature elections always damage the economy and the flow of things like health and education, I wouldn't mind having some politicians think twice before submitting laws for personal profit.
