As you can see, I tried this before, but I didn't have screenshots, so it got thrown out the window. And, of course, for good reason.

The idea of this game is that a hole is opened up in space-time that threatens to destroy the universe as we know it â€" I know, it's cliché, but this gives me an opportunity to be my four favorite things: random, surreal, funny, and lazy. Featuring a lot of usage of the feature that enables you to sync happenstances onscreen to MIDI and a "Treehouse of Horror"-style disclaimer introduction by Davy Jones. Heavily influenced by Al-Quest, most obviously from its usage of Roger as the main character and Sierra-style talking animations.

Screenshots:

NOTE: The colors are not quite correct. I use paint, and so when I saved, I had two usable options. It was either losing some color information or making it look like total crap. I think I picked the right one.

Progress: Probably about 40-60% â€" this is not going to be a very ambitious game.

General Discussion / What's your solution?
Thu 14/04/2005 22:06:29
My solution is 42. If that doesn't work I use Febreze. It solves everything! And if that doesn't work for some reason, I put it off until tommorrow. What about you?

General Discussion / Back to the Future
Wed 16/03/2005 17:01:45
Well, this year is the 20th anniversary of Back to the Future and I just got a DVD of the trilogy, so I thought I'd bring up the subject. What do you have to say about the movie?

Subtopic:
You know you've watched Back to the Future too much when...

1. You keep crashing into manure trucks for no particular reason.
2. You watched the Lord of the Rings for the sole reason that the kid from the cafe in the second movie is the star (obscure).
3. You experience deja vu every day.

More please!

General Discussion / Good Idea, Bad Idea
Sun 27/02/2005 23:25:25
Welcome to the coolest game since "Chatterbox": Good Idea, Bad Idea! The thing is to come up with a good idea and a bad idea, usually related and/or created for humorous effect. So, Let's Go!

Good Idea: Always having your gun out in Half-Life.
Bad Idea: Always having your gun out in real life!

Hi, I'm working on a novelly thing called Inexcusable Fan Fiction (yes, that's the title). I'd like you to look over it. It is here:

I was just thinking about the songs in Rob Blanc 3 and how all but one of them (the Rob Blanc theme, by wonderful Mark Lovegrove) were ripped. Does anyone have any info on these songs? 'Cuz all I know is that the song on Paul's home planet was some song by Sting. Just curious.

So I decided to do a bit of a musical CHALL... just look at the subject, OK?

Anyway, I want to see if you "alls" can make up a song that has sudden, drastic tempo and/or volume changes. ("Tempo" is the musical term for speed.) Please make it MIDI or MP3, none of that X-whatever junk. OGG is also acceptaple, as is AIFF (but please don't use AIFF unless you want the 28.8 K-ers to spank you until your bottom turns red).

This is not a contest, and there is no winner. It is open as long as forever is. In that good spirit, I will make a song that has absolutely nothing to do with this activity and post it on the thread. So, happy scoring/arranging/whatevering! Toodles!

Could you please help me on my new short story, "Natural Selection"?  I would like to know what you have to say about it.

The story is here:

http://homepage.mac.com/daved5/stories/selection.html

Do you like my style? Do you like my humor? And don't be too put off, I can write very light stories as well. What else do you like and/or not like? I can deal with criticism, but please tell me what you're criticizing.

This is my new game, Meaning Quest. It's about a mildly cynical teenager whose name is not important trying to find the meaning of life.

The demo is available here: http://http://homepage.mac.com/daved5/downloads/meandemo.zip

Featuring:
Not-so-good graphics
Meager lip-sync
Ripped music (MIDI)
Wry humor
A (ripped) TrueType font

Screenshots:

Story: 65%
Music: I don't really know, but since none of the music so far is mine, I'd say 100%
Graphics: Barely 10%
Puzzles: Barely 20%
Pizza: What the #%*@& is pizza?

I don't see much wrong with it at all. I mean, so it's limited and stuff, but it's a pretty good program for a freebie. It's all I use. Anyway, anything with more options would probably make me dizzy with confusion. If anyone has a different opinion, I don't mind, post it here anyway! I'd love other arguments. So, what's your opinion?

So one person tells a riddle, and another person answers it and gets to do the next game. We COULD vote on it to put it into the Game thread, but it's not neccesary. I go first.

If I have all my letters, this may make oyu pull a muscle.
If you take away my first letter, I'll move you in a hustle.
Remove my second letter, too, and I fall from the sky.
So could you figure out what exactly am I?

I know this is very awkward and bad, but whatever. can you figure it out?

This is our new pic. Imagine the cold, harsh landscape of some city that's obviously cold. Two guys are walking in Eskimo suits. Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to tell me what they're saying.

You have to download this pic and then fill in the bubbles. That's it, no fancy stuff required.

So, who's up to the challenge?

I simply set the default GUI to always appear and moved it to the bottom of the screen (X 320, Y 170), but it won't show up! What am I doing wrong?

Spoiler
I'm on the plane. I've got the clean mirror, the carpet fuzz, the polish, the pants-bird-on-a-stick, the full water bottle, and the lens. I've been to the girl's bathroom and the top of the ship. I have NO IDEA what to do next to get rid of the eye. WHAT DO I DO?
