Not to mention that it doesn't go fully into play until 2014. At which point Obama's term will be up, so it's quite likely the republicans will try to demolish it when they get into office. Which unfortunately seems rather likely to me, since Obama has only been making subtle changes to the country and therefor nobody notices. There's an overwhelming amount of people who seem to think that Obama hasn't actually done anything, despite the fact that's he's actually done a lot. Just not a lot that's in the public light. So unfortunately it seems to me that the next president being Republican is very likely. And the death of this bill will follow shortly after.

That's a good point Calin. And sometimes there can be a lot of worth in feeling offended about something, such as there can be in anger and sadness. Any emotion, when used in the right context, can merely help and make an experience more fulfilling.

Oh, so in response to the second question (which I forgot to answer): Maybe, I might download a game that would be offensive, if it seems like it would offer something interesting to the table.

Basically. Sexism is the one that majorly boils me, though. Like, I really hate racism or any other sort of discrimination, but sexism bothers me the most.

If I were to say what I hate about people's treatment of others, I would say that I hate those (more specifically, I hate their actions) who judge without knowing, and refuse to learn. I hate pretty much everything that people employ in this article. Ageism, sexism, caste systems, homophobia, racism, etc... they all get under my skin.

Out of the ones which have been most affecting to me and therefor set me off the most, I'll say sexism. I'm personally offended by sexism. I am not personally offended by racism or the like, though I still hate it and combat it when I can.

Should've been clearer about that, I must say. *shrug*

tl;dr version: personally offended by sexism, hate all discrimination.

If they have a therapist/psychiatrist/psychologist and it comes up, that person would know. They don't even need to have done anything to have one.

Just putting that out there.

I think the biggest thing that "offends" me is sexism towards anyone, regardless of sex, gender, orientation, or whatever. And by "offends" I mean makes me want to backhand the offender. In terms of revulsion, I'd say extreme gore. And by "revulsion" I mean makes me feel sick.

@OP: The Zen isn't the only one doing this. It seems the Google Ads service does as well.

Good idea. Try and aim for high production quality, though. We don't have enough adventure game LP's.

Not to mention that the game should be able to support 8 players on one system. Like Brawl, it allows use of both Wii remotes AND gamecube controllers, so with some smart (as in basic) programming they could easily allow it.

But nooooo, let's limit it to 4. Bugs me so much at parties, when there's 5 people or something.

I wanted a character who was dark, mysterious, and was also a bunny. So... Shade Jackrabbit.

...yeah, it's like if Patrick Stewart was instead named Handsome Englishman.

I see your My Immortal and you raise you a Christian Humber Reloaded!

I've written fanfics before, some of them intentionally terrible. That being said, there are some really good or at least decent fanfics in the Myst community. Although, what really counts as a "fanfic" is a good question. (Is this a fanfic, for example? It's more like a fan age, as the forum leads it.)

Probably whatever makes my mom prefer her new netbook to her old clunky desktop. :P

I don't really like frontends for DOSbox. Much more fun to get into the guts. Then again, I installed Debian Linux from scratch on an old 233Mhz laptop, so I may be a little insane about that sort of thing.

But it really is an amazing piece of work. I can finally play X-COM again!

Aw, I so need to get a copy of Mario Kart Wii. The Mario Kart series has been very on-and-off for me, as I didn't really like 64 or DS, but I did like Double Dash and the one on the SNES. I went to a friends' place for a party and we played four player. I was shocked to learn that YOU CAN RIDE MOTORCYCLES.  :D Anyways, that was a fun night. Seems to be the best installment, or at least I enjoyed it the most.

So... yeah, I'll let you know if I get a copy any time soon.  ;D

There's a few puzzles in there where one person has to do one thing (say, hold a lever) and then the other has to go do another (stand on a spot) and then the first has to go do something else (pull a different lever). There's also a couple of puzzles that are way easier to do with more people, but can be done alone.

But yeah, I played a bit one night and will be heading back after I get my work in order. It's very cool stuff.

Speaking of this topic, anyone who wants to see what Myst Online was like can now do so: http://mystonline.com/en/play/

We need more adventure MMOGs.

I can't see how multi-player adventures would work without the format shifting significantly.

Well, Myst Online used instanced ages to allow people a choice in how many people played with them, i believe. A lot of the puzzles involved each person doing something to solve it, so it was very helpful to have a group of people with you. The most important thing was how the game moved from puzzle-driven to community-driven. I remember that there was this one age which was really big, so players were trying to navigate through it by mapping the night sky, and the whole community got involved. Some players even set up tour-groups of the ages. (Sorry if I got any of that wrong, by the way. I never actually played it because I couldn't pay the 5 dollars a month. :P)

What if the games weren't necessarily multiplayer, but were able to be played over a network where players were able to swap turns at will and give advice/ideas within a messenger window/box?

Zork: Grand Inquisitor has a feature that works like this. One player controls everything and the other player(s?) had a faded cursor which could give suggestions. (Unfortunately I never got it working, but my brother informed me that this is how it worked.)

Okay, as for a solid example that I actually experienced myself, Broken Sword: Shadow of the Templars DX has a two-player mode. One gets a solid cursor and the other gets a faded cursor. If one of you gets tired of controlling (cause the Wii remote is like what, 5 pounds? Arms get tired) you can press a button and it give control to the other player. It was really helpful for when we got  stuck on puzzles and one of us wanted a break from controlling but wanted to keep playing. Plus it gets both players involved.

EDIT:

...it seems that sharing ideas, taking turns and discussing the story as you play makes it a more interactive experience which helps you to really take things in and reflect on the story rather than just watching it play out like a movie.

Also, this. The coolest thing about playing adventure games with other people is the sort of conversations you can have while playing them. Not only that, but it's sometimes easier to get emotionally involved. For example, while playing Dark Fall: Lights out! with my brother, we were reading a book when the game made a thumping sound. He said "Hey, that wasn't me." And I said "Oh." After a second, I looked back and said "Oh! AH." I can say for a fact that the tension of playing the game was a lot higher after that point.

My family played Myst, Riven, Exile, and UrU together. I'm playing Byzantine - The Betrayal with my brother, and we've gone through a lot of different games together. My mom and I are playing Syberia II together.

I tend to play adventure games with other people when possible. Makes them easier to figure out and it's nice to spend time with other people.

Huh, I actually used to post somewhat regularly here. Then I hung around at different forums. Aaaand, now I'm coming back because I can't resist the draw? *shrug*

I really like the graphical style. It's a nice choice to go with the look of the classical series, instead of trying to modernize it. Liked the first one, so I'm looking forward to this next episode!

Anyone else? It's funny... I never noticed that there are only 2 members of AGS :P
Yeah actually TandyLion and I own just thousands of e-mail accounts and have huge split-personality disorders. We manage to keep up with posts via tabbed browsing, and actually are 90% of the AGS community.

Or something. ;)

I usually use mind mapping software like FreeMind or XMind to start out really vague and break things down into more and more detailed thoughts. It can be very helpful to figure out things like inventory puzzles. (Item A is made from AA and AB, which are made from AAA, AAB, ABA, and ABB. Hey now we've got four items, huzzah!)

Story-lines I've always had problems with, but I found that yWriter had some nice organizational stuff for that, including character and item lists. I've found that time-lines are very helpful for stories, but I've never really found a program to do it and have to do it manually on paper or with tables/spreadsheets in Office.

For gameplay, GUIs, and environments, I always find quick sketches to be helpful. Basically I start really minimized and build on top of it, adding more details or buttons or whatever. Often paint programs (whichever one you like the most, my current favourites are Gimp 2.6 and Paint .NET) or pencil & paper help out here.

Mmm... and the last would be dialogue, I guess. This I often achieve by looking at what has to be said and then trying to say it (literally) in the manner of the character. Dialogue has always been one of my strong points though so I can't offer many tips, sorry.

Well, hope that helped. Best of luck on Leitor's Edge. (Which, by the way, looked like all kinds of awesome, the last time I saw it.)
