For some reason I really hated the "Retry" method of solving Deaths. Like when you die, you are immeadiately taken to the point just before the cause of death. Like in KQ7. That just annoyed me. They even gave a little "hint" that usually solved the whole puzzle.

good attempt for a first try. you should be able to get much better with a few more tries. I would suggest giving her body more shape. Right now it is basically a block with legs and a head.

great idea for a game... I love fantasy/magic type themes. The story sounds interesting too- a bit like a Xanth novel I read once.... Source of Magic??

This is not working!!!!!! the file is still uploading. Maybe it is because my file is almost 1 mb (it is 997kb) or that my internet connection is too slow (currently less than 7.2kbs). Maybe I could mail it to some kind soul who could upload it?
OMFG!!! IT WORKED!!! Here is my great game. It is however rather bare of animations and hotspots to click on due to the fact that I just started day before yesterday:

General Discussion / Ancestors
Mon 26/01/2004 11:32:19
I just found out that my great great grandfather was the consort of the begum of the princely state of Bhopal in India! He came from a long line of warriors who protected the royal family, all the way up to the companion of the original founder of Bhopal. Sadly, none of the bravado and skill seems to have been passed on to me, except perhaps my urges to stick swords into the faces of a lot of people who annoy me.
I got some book on Bhopal just to learn something about the place of my ancestors, and found my grandfathers name in it, linking to the consort of the begum  :o. I checked the appendix and found out it IS my grandfather. Now I am really digging into the history of my family. There are lots of interesting legends from Bhopal. There is one guy who was said to have been able to hold his breath for 1 hr underwater. That sure beats Guybrush ;D! There is lots of stuff from the history that is going into my big book of ideas. Who knows? Maybe someday it will evolve into an adventure game.
So I wanted to know, anyone know about their lineage? I am not saying I am so great now that I found out I am from a whole line of warriors, but it is fun finding out facts about your family ancestry. I am sure all of you have 2 famous ancestors you know about, from Noah's family(if you believe in that stuff) since everyone except them drowned... and Adam and Eve.

Get your stereo, and if you don't have a stereo, plug speakers into your CD player, or just use your computer with speakers.

Find the most anti-baby song you have.

Turn the speakers on maximum.

Turn speakers towards baby.

PLAY!!!!
I did that once already. I put some really loud screamy linkin park song and made a baby listen to it. I think it liked it. It opened its eyes wide and started some weird dance with raising up and lowering his hands. Anyway, I love babies! You can see that from my avator. Oh, wait, its not there anymore....

It seems a lot of scary parts (in games) is a chase part. By this I mean where the player is in a place with an approaching baddie. This in addition to a limited time is really scary. For example, the jaguar(??) appearing in pleurghburgh got me all jumpy. There was a jaguar running towards you and you are frantically clicking your inventory to see what to stop it. Another example is the randomly appearing wizard/dwarf/witch in Kq1. While I was on a certain screen, suddenly one of them appeared and started going towards you. That really used to get my heart beating fast and I was press the key to exit the screen as soon as possible. Even Resident Evil, with baddies suddenly appearing and walking in their weird limp used to get a jump out of me while I tried turning towards them and repeatedly firing at them. I don't think it really applies (at least for games) that I don't believe in zombies or ghosts. If you can sufficiently absorb the player into the game and then get them shocked with those they can get really scared.  I guess a major part of this is the atmosphere created by the music and backgrounds, creating an "intense" feeling, followed by the (perhaps expected, but still scary) shock.

* babloyi looks for the hysterically laughing smiley with its stomach bursting, but finds none
hahahahahhahahahahahah
poor lassie.. I would not even dream of using her in a drink. "lassi" is a drink that is made of milk. Its kind of like a milkshake, but it can be salty also. I should have expected it not being known. I don't think it is drunk much outside a few countries in Asia. You could probably get it at an Indian resteraunt.
Ok, I am done with the geography/cooking lesson

MI1: "How to Get Ahead in Navigating."

I hated that puzzle! I was stuck on it from the time I got the game to the time I got internet and checked up a walkthrough. After that I finished most of the rest of the game with the walkthrough   :(

nononono, you misunderstand, I said I don't really go to #ags, so until you mentioned it I was unaware of any problems occuring there. However, I would gladly include that in my arguement, so in conclusion, yeah, that too

I don't really go to #ags so I can't complain about that, but I wanted to say that it is not always "an ordinary technical query". Someone may ask something like "how do I make a person?". Sure, its a ambigious and silly question, but the guy is just a noob and doesn't know how. The reply will probably be a dozen "RTFM!!!" along with the weird little emoticon I have no idea how to duplicate. The manual is all good, but there are some things hidden in places where you do not expect them, and it is possible to get the search words wrong

General Discussion / treatment of ""noobs"
Sun 04/01/2004 20:52:24
Hello, my name is Babar. I have been a member for a while now, and I even used to frequent the old ags site before it stopped. I lost ags for  a while after that (not being computer literate enough to search for it) ::). I am what is known as a lurker or roamer or something, meaning that I rarely post. I just work with my game (however slowly) and look over the forums trying to learn some stuff.
Coming to the point, I wanted to comment on the behaviour of the members towards so-called "noobs". I mean, come on, give them a break. This people have found something they enjoy, something they can create entertainment with, and they need your help to get started. Sure they may try to act a little  8) at first as they do not know how it all works, but that's no reason to unload on them a barrage of insults and put-downs. Enthusiasm for ags is soon turned into disgust for the 24hr online help. Sure, it may all be meant in fun, but how are they to know that? I mean I've seen conversations that go something like this (Now don't ask me to prove it, this is just an example):

noob> Hey everyone! I love AGS!!!1!!111! can you tell me how to <insert request here>?
elitest member1> lol! STFU noob!
elitest member2>lol elitest member1! noob doesn't know about the fullhiflowdiadox2121{934.3,64,43} command!! STFU Noob!!
noob> sorry, what does the fullhiflowdiadox2121{934.3,64,43} command do?
elitest member1> it does what you want depending on the quasi-mondo diatomic variable you place in the 2nd decimal point of the number that comes before infinity! Any idiot should know that!
noob> just f*ck you all! your just a bunch of sealless goose chuckers!!
ultra politically correct member> Hey, now don't go dissing goose chuckers and calling them sealless, there are a lot of them using these forums and its not nice
noob> WHAT A BUNCH OF NUTS!!! ARRRGGGGHHH!!!@11!!21 I'm out of here

Sure they may act stupid in their first few posts, but they are new! They will learn after awhile, that is if you do not scare them off before that. I mean, you want the AGS community to grow, right? You'll have to accept noobs for that. Hey wait a minute!!! What if you don't want them to grow! What if AGS is trying to become a closed elite community that will use AGS to take over the world! Naaa... I don't think so. Therefore be kind to the unhumble noob so he spread the word of adventure and all..
(btw, I don't really consider any ags commands to be as complicated as fullhiflowdiadox2121{934.3,64,43}, but some people may find it a trifle difficult. Also, what does STFU signify? I have seen it used a lot but don't know)

Well... my exact name in english was not there, but the name is not of english origin. The two variations of my name seem completely different.

Your name of Baber gives you self-assurance, independence, and confidence. You have depth of mind and the ability to concentrate and to follow a line of thought to a logical conclusion. Your love of challenging the concepts of others invariably leads you to create your own ideas and to pioneer new lines of thought. Your strong characteristic of individuality qualifies you as a leader. You must be independent and you do not brook interference in any way. Although you do not tolerate interference in your own affairs, this characteristic does not prevent you from interfering in the affairs of others.

The name of Baabar has given you an appreciation for many beautiful and refined aspects of life--music and art, literature, drama--and the outdoors, where you find much peace and relaxation, but it creates a far too sensitive nature. You sense and feel much that you do not understand, and sometimes you are alarmed at your thoughts and wonder about their origin. You rarely experience the tranquility that comes with stability of thinking or emotional control.

I think I am more like the second description though...

I was less than 5 years old when the 80s finished, but I used to listen to music my big brother played, and I grew to like a lot of it. I am not sure all of this is "80s" cause I dunno when they came out:
King of wishful thinking
toto -africa
Died in your arms-cutting crew
eddie grant- electric avenue
Abracadabra
alan parsons project-Eye in the sky
Chicago
Guns 'n Roses-November Rain
van helen- brown-eyed girl, and the music he did for Top Gun
as well as alot of songs by U2, Whitesnake, chicago, air supply
