yes but it's lit from the other side, All foreground Objects are blcak no mateer how light the room is.

what gives you that idea? If a room is bright the objects my be darker but they wont be competely black.

Quote from: BerserkerTails on Sun 18/07/2004 19:24:31The graphics would have to be pretty realistic too. A cartoony, DOTT or Sam and Max art-style would definatley not suit the game.

i think youre wrong here, the characters in the show could be done really quite well in a DOTT/sam and max style.

ive been doing a little work on the 'souvinier' screen. Just thought id see what people think of the update:

p.s: i forgot to mention that it linked with the tree scene, and I'm removing the tree t the far left, as i simply dont like it lol.

edit: i didnt realise the sea sort of dips halfway through, think that was a joining error lol, oh well ill fix it. :-*

just a small note on darths edit, the camera wouldnt be completely black as the room is too well lit.

also, after seeing your sprites, i dont think manny's teeth have to be exposed when he was alive, as chances are he had lips to cover them.

i dont think its the graphics that are so much a problem, its the actual plot and script you'll struggle to even touch. Grim Fandangos strongest point was the story, and the way it was told. You'd have to have some serious talent to even come close to that.

Yay!
TLOTLL is NOT DEAD!!! ;)

- His hair looks a bit flat
- The lighter red in the pants is a bit washed out?
- Looks a bit "generic", but if you fix the hair, that might straighten itself out...
- That's about all I can think of now.
- As always, big respect!Ã,  8)

Indeed it isnt! yeah the hair needs finishing, as for the colour, i didnt want to go too 'vibrant'. Ill 'finalize' it before it goes in to the game. Keep em coming!  ;)

did this one today, took me about 30 mins. He wont feature in part one of the game, but i can tell you that he'll be part of a gang of boys that will feature quite heavily in the later parts. Please let me know what you think and/or any improvements you might have.

Thanks

Well yeah I meant you are at the bar the whole time, you will be able to go outback/outside/bathroom etc.

Oh and yes, It was half paint / half photoshop. I've been trying to move away from photoshop (it sucks).

i like the concept, sounds really interesting, the simple ideas are always the best ones!

Photoshop sucks? You obviously dont use it a lot, i couldnt live without it. All down to personal opinion i guess....

Man you totaly rock.Ã,  :o
Everithime I open the topic and go down and read the bit about concept art I hawe to chukle a bitÃ,  :)

why must you chuckle?

I dont think too many people liked my last concept work as they felt it didnt match the style of the game, but i think its important a game has strong artistic back up and research to give it the depth.

New concept art coming soon, also a rework of the 'souvinier' screen, as im not entirely happy with it. Keep checking  8)

ive noticed that a lot of people forget to think of the simple things like room layout. Where would you find a room with a television in the middle of it? Televisions are usually tucked off to the side to give a room more space. Just my POV.

hehe, I made the same mistake as Evil.

Well anyway, there could still be some more motion to the animation.
I made this very quick attempt:

It's not based on your original sprite, but I just wanted to illustrate my point

i think one of the problems here is that theres simply too many frames. Bats beat their wings quickly which means you cant really see the transition from up to down on the wings.

in frame 2 you need to lessen the bend in his knee, as presently it looks as if hes doing a little skip.

oh come on loominous, ive looked at this drawing for a while now and i really cant see anything wrong with it at all. Theres no point nitpicking at things just for the sake of it.

I take my hat off tou you man thats fantastic, cant wait to see hwat youi'll do next.
#518
the actual bar surface needs some more depth, you could barely fit a drink on there. I like the character though.

Didnt even want to waste space in the Critics lounge with this, just an image i made whilst messing around a while ago. It was originally to be a map screen but i have other ideas for that now. Just thought id show it anyhow, even though it probably wont make the game.

Thanks for the encouragement everyoneÃ,  :)

It looks fine.Ã,  With a little polish here and there it will be perfect.

EXCEPT!!!Ã,  you forgot the couch in front of the TV!Ã,  Is one supposed to STAND while watching TV?

this is a good point, when designing a room and its contents, try to have a good reason and place to put things. the 'plasma' tv looks a little out of place in what appears to be a kitchen, as well as being blaced next to a door. You could also probably afford to shorten the room in width a little.

Keep up the good work.
