Messages - Dropped Monocle Games

#61
maybe I should have gone for the higher resolution version hehe

1# AprilSkies - love it, I would watch a monster movie that had this creature!

2# Mandle - I'm a sucker for cartoon style and I like how you made use of the foreground too :)

3# selmiak - I would love to know whats under that surface!

4# Cassiebsg - is that a Cylon?  nice!

I really enjoyed taking part in this, everyone did a awesome job :D

Awesome yeah, that worked great! Thank you :D

Did you copy the text in from notepad or something similar? I had the same problem as this. It was just a case of deleting the characters and retyping inside the editor.

Thanks Calin! The white/black thing sent me in the right direction. Importantly, I found you must also use the file from page 3 of this thread. The file in the original post has not been updated to support tinting.
Sorry to open this but I'm having a little problem,
The link on page 3 is broken and I'm using download from page 1

everything is working great apart from I can't seem to get tinting to work, should it work with .say and the colour set by the characters speech colour? if not is there a way for me to change colours for different characters speaking?
I have set my font sprite to be white with a black outline/shadow.
Really sorry if I have misunderstood this

The shoulder and waist look a little bit off to me, someone correct me if I'm wrong tho

I would bring in the shoulders, lower and widen the hips a bit, and more of a bum. I did a quick paint over

Looks good tho :D

sure, not sure what one you wanted so I did both or if it makes a difference

here is the new build one

Thanks! Kentucky Route Zero is awesome! It isn't proper vector stuff, but it's drawn with pencil in Photoshop. Oh, and the animation is done with Spine by Esoteric Software, another project I helped kickstart (along with the Musopen Chopin recordings)! :-)

Ooooo I have been meaning to try Spine (I use Anime Studio mostly) but was put off with the fact it doesn't allow vector art but seeing how smooth the animations are in this game, I may have to give it a try :)

I have bumped into a little problem using 3.4.0.3 but it could just be something I have missed or doing wrong.
I'm making a game in 1280x720

But when I build the game and open Winsetup.exe it looks like this

1. The native game resolution is wrong
2. I can't choose Direct3D only DirectDraw is on the driver list
3. I can't choose different Modes apart from the "Native" resolution and my Desktop Res (1080)
4. if I check Window Mode the mode sticks at 1280 x 960 but when the game is running it runs at 1280 x 720

Shouldn't the native change to 1280 x 720 and shouldn't I be able to change to loads of different resolutions?
is this down to something I have done wrong or is this an error with the editor?

Update:
Using this option gives me all the options back

but the resolution changes I make don't seem to save or doesn't downscaling work in fullscreen mode?
ah, I'm an idiot I had the Stretch to fit option on.
but the Mode seems to always default back to my desktop size even if I change and then save

Just finished playing this game and I wanted to congratulate you on this release, I really loved the clean, simple nature of the gameplay and art style! also loved the soundtrack, it goes really well with the game and anything with Chopin in it is a win :) (anyone who enjoys music by Chopin should give Eternal Sonata on xbox 360 a play)

I didn't run into any bugs, it was smooth sailing from start to finish for me and I'm glad to see someone using the higher resolution with AGS, love me some HD Adventure Games!
As someone that is into animation, may I ask what software you used to do the animations?

oh and
Spoiler
10/10 would stay silent for a whole game again

1. get fitter (less junk food, more moving)
2. spend more time on artwork
3. do the little things that I always tell myself.. "I'll do that later"
4. spend less time on social media sites (Facebook / Reddit)

I loved every second of this! I'm not normally the kinda guy that enjoys scary/dark themed adventure games, but this was really well done and gripped me from the start!
