Look at it on the upside! Sure, wiping the USA off the face of the planet would be a bad thing (esp. during Mittens Vice ed. tm), but at least this would make the sea level drop significantly since the entire land mass which is the USA-half of the north American continent (or half the land-mass of the entire continent) could now become a reservoir of sea-water. (ocean-water), which would make sea levels drop significantly, thus protecting our (Dutch) coastline (except that all those formerly sea-side busineses will have to relocate or go bust)

If enough people will feel that it's an unfair trade-off (our entire country vs. our coastline) then we should petition Kim Jong Il that maye his intentions are ill-advised. Certainly if enough of us petition him he will see the error of his ways and change. He's a dictator, but only to his own pople, right? So unless he's trying to branch out into other countries as well (fan out over the planet) He will listen to us, right?

Did you get the pun? Kim Yong Il, Ill-advised, ... I'm a comedy genius ;D

I find dead ends frustrating, especially if they occur near the end of the game. You've spent all the time and effort to finish it, then you have to start all over/from a saved game, and if there is only a small amount of game left, that makes me feel as if I've done the replaying for nothing/for a small amount of extra game time. I remember in SQ4, you needed an adapter plug or something to plug into a computer near the end of the game, You'd buy the adapter in the Galaxy Galleria somewhere along the middle of the game, but I didn't kno w which one I'd need to buy. So I'd have to load an old save game (if I still had it!) and replay from there on, or replay from the beginning. Boy, have I played the beginning of SQ4 often! Perhaps I've missed a clue somewhere, very likely of course. In part because even though I did pick up the item it turned out to be the wrong one.
But I'd prefer if the player were guided/led in some (not necessarily stealthy) way. (Obvious ways are permitted and not frowned upon too heavily) Would an auto-save at a place where you had accidentally forgotten to get the item be an option? ManicMatt, you'd need a file handy to sharpen your teeth, and also an anaesthetic (for obvious reasons while doing this). Maybe also a dentist at hand/in your inventory?
So I'd go for 'nay'.

I have something to celebrate: I've got my driver's license back! Those who were at the chateau may remember that I've had a motorcycle accident and because of that ("change in my health-situation") I couldn't drive a car (or bike) anymore, that is to say: I'd be uninsured to all intents and purposes.
That situation has now come to an end,
All that remains now is to conquer the red tape and get an actual driver's license, which I can put in my wallet and show the kind police person (male/female/ any more options?) who asks for it. (not that that happens often :o ) But at least I have certainty that I'll get my license back.
To celebrate  (and because my current car is gettting on a bit (still in good enough shape, but It is 11 years old now), I've bought a different car:

I'll admit, it was the red that clinched it for me.

This site could give you a good pre-flight giggle, but maybe i'll just make you scared about not beng allowed on the plane:  http://stupidsecurity.com/
You gotta laugh don't you? You can take a chainsaw + any size of gaslighter with you on the plane as hand luggage, since they're not listed as illegal items. I0m off to the nearest convenience-store to buy me a chainsaw, you know, just in case the pilots die of food poisoning, then someone needs to get into the cockpit to fly the plane (and pass on the fish!). And that flamethrower? It's to ward off evil terrorists, sir.

This is what I waste most of my time on - wielding hot metal stick and melting tin to things that'll carry lethal voltages. Great fun! and that's before you can whip out the power tools (whip them out gently and slowly, esp. if others are around) to build the wooden box these'll fit in.
It's not the kind of Firefly that'll play such a big role in a tv-series like Serenity: http://picasaweb.google.com/magicmojo1/MojoWatt#
Find other (already finished or abandoned) projects on my website:http://marco.ooijer.com
Oh, and if you have a good relationship with your neighbours this is a brilliant path to changing that. ("If you'll build it, they'll await peacefully and not yet come." "If you'll play it, they most certainly will do just that.")

Sir (presuming your gender to be so, otherwise: subsititute Madam), I bow to your abilities. The composition adn angle of view is greatlyconceived, but I agree that there are some pitfalls: you could avodi the perspective-problem by locating the path at the side, or maybe even at the back That'd also pose a perspective problem, but only a small one, automatic scaling might be enough.

If there's one thing which I dislike on this pic it's the trees in the background. They seem a bit too 'scratchy', like a child would draw them with crayons or colouring pencils. It gives an idea of hastiness which doesn't fit with the idea of carefulness, well-thought-outedness of the rest of the pic.

In all, I'd love to play this game.

If I may add my 2 cents: I must say that C# Looks good on paper, but in my experience, the real thing (at least talking about the visual studio express version) the paper seems to promise more than the real thing can deliver (talking about the .NET-bit). Also, I created a tiny program (a Gregoriancalendar-tool)  and in spte of it being so small, it does take very long to start up. I guess next time I'll try it in C++.

Yeah, but bear in mind that walking distance is a very subjective term. Medieval (as in: adults who lived between 1095 and 1272) merrily walked from roughly where I'm sitting now all the way to Jerusalem, Admittedly there may have been some boats in use somwehre along the way, but that won't have been much.
Of course, they didn't have to get therein time before the drinks or dinner were served.

;D ;D ;D

Ok, so far we have 33 total interested people.  Ten people have already paid.  The house sleeps 23 comfortably.

So...the disparity in numbers becomes apparent.  Although I know we can fit more than 23 people in the house, I would be hesitant to push that limit too much further, so I am going to have to set an attendance limit of 30.
I'd say, the people who've already paid willl still get to sleep comfortably, the rest will have to make do with the sofas / tents on the beach, etc. It's only fair, isn't it?  ;D ;D

BTW some information for anyone who's going to pick up people from FLL (take notice, Jeremy :) ), from what I can make of my e-ticket, my plane departs from Philadelphia and lands at 21:09 (on sat. june 29). Chances are this isn't conveniently timed for a picking-up (I think chances aren't the right word; Ir's more like very inconvenient), so what would be most convenient is if there would be a street address I could direct a cabbie to. Since I can't find one on the homeaway site, it would be very cool if anyone could tell me how to make the cabby believe I'm not pulling his leg when I ask him to take me to 2Chateau Mittens, please." "What do you mean you don't understand, it's in north-Hollywood." " Well, go on, floor it, what are you waiting for?"

Believe it or not, but I've never been to Finland. I do have some music from there (shame Petri Walli killed himself - I really liked Kingston Wall, but Hidria Spacefolk are good too). So put me on the "interested" list.

Wahey Grundy, thta's $360.22 heading your way! Catch! :D

One thing I'm curious about: what kind if tempreaturs should  we be expecting? High ones obviously, but is it shorts-temp in the evenigs too? Just so I know what to pack. (I'll bring more than swimming trunks + flipflops, don't worry!)

Good to see this. I will now look for the best flights there.  Related to that: Darth, iirc it was  you who mentioned Bimini, I am soo up for that. if that's post- or pre-Mittens is important for my booking the flight. Since I'm reallly keen on that, I'd like to know a bit about if that's actually likely to happen, and some other convenient details as in dates etc. But just for the heck of it I'm going to book my return flight a week after Mittens, because I intend to travel aross the state a bit anyway.

Oh, and to let you know: I'm really busy trying to get me a girlfriend (starring in a fabulous movie is a great bonus when internetdating, BTW!) and maybe get her to come to Florida as well, so that makes one definite (me) and one extremely maybe (the almost unlikely her) (first I'll finally have to have an actually succesful date with a girl :'( :'( I keep failing at that important bit, and she'd have to have interest in coming to Florida with me (some past candidates have expressed interest). And of course she must not be the kind who breaks stuff (chairs etc, not to mention my heart) or else she'd smile me into please paying that fee, "won't you, darling? You kow how much I love you!".
I think I speak for us all if I say: [yell]Go Grundy! [yell]
Addition: flight reservations made a few days before Mittens (27/6) (a jetlag-recovery break) and a week (31/6)after Mittens (possibly Bimini, or else a (nice but )short tour of the state/immediate vicinity of Fort Lauderdale

Both the Fort Lauderdale and the Hollywood-place-thingy would be heavenly. All we'll need then are no hurricanes, and the location would be even better than the chateau. If I may be so free I'd say that we'd let the choice depend on the turnout. I'm definitely on (barring a planetary catastropy of the Hollywood-kind or of the HHGTG-kind (which would be a major bummer, earth demolished, no planet to stand on anymore and all that)) So if we'll exceed 20 then we'd have to go for the Hollywood, sinece that slseeps 23.Sure the Hollywood place is slightly (!)cheaper which is a plus, and since I can't chooe beteen either place on any other gruond, I'd choose for the cheapest place, ehich is Hollywood.
Another thing to take into account is how close amenities such as bars etc, also grocery shops are. I've learned frm Mittens Français that that is quite the thing to take into account.
Oh and I expect both would be a suitable movie location (we'd have to be careful with the pyrotechnics!)
I'm not really bothered by the Kitschy interior. It's for a week-short holiday after all. It adds some panache. Oh and beach front is not high on my list of prerequisites, it would be a nice bonus at most.

So the tally after a quick browse of the posts: Hollywodo 2 votes over Lauderdale (but that's where all the college girls go wild during their summer break, right? Hmmmmm...)
can't choose: 2 votes as well. (so I counted my vote twice, heck, I'm allowed to;  I'm counting - it's my post, isn't it??

I am  :) with these dates, I'm hoping to explore Florida a bit while in the state, wondering if I should do that before or after Mittens. (I've already seen a fair bit of the other states, so I'll stick to Florida this time, of course, I'm still on for Bimini!) Maybe I'll stick to Miami,(as if I don't see enough city-scapes in my day-day life! or visit the everglades - I'll try to take a photo of the skunk-ape if I see it (and it doesn't kill me first :P)
I think I'll plan a week extra in my flight schedule, before or after Mittens. (Which'll be the unquestionable highlight of this year's vacation in Florida, whereever I'll go)

I can't adda any bug/game specifically, but Sierra's games always had them as an added bonus; you got a lot of them for free. with every game This was at least the case in SQ4, and probably also others.

Yay for separating logic and programming with SCUMM (and AGS, obviously)

One puzzle that ticked me off (a bit), was crssoing the Lava in Atlantis. So many times it proved easy, but one time, any tile Indy stood on would collapse. I could find no reason for that particular tile to go. And I could therefore not continue the game.

Looks good, why didn't you make one at Mittens? :(
I thought the reason I didn't became obvious enough in those pictures?

I'll see what I can do at Miamittens, of course depending on whether the place we're in has smoke detectors (which can be turned off easily), it turned out that my microwave oven even had one built in. Bake and learn, guys. Oh and my next cake came out wonderful, haven't tssted it yet, but it smells and looks great (it even feels squishy and not breakable like this one)

I thank you all for your kind and considerate words (Domino, I already threw it away, so I'd have to dig it out of the trashcan as a gift to someone I don't like, and even *I* have standards which prohibit that.

So, since tomorrow's christmas and we're celebrating with relatives, I though I'd bake a cake, Here's how (qnd where) it turned out after I had taken care of the din the smoke detectors were making: and opened all windwo to clear the smoke & stench:

2 more photo's on my balcony:

Here's the inside, now you fully understand why I wouldn't let anyone eat it (as if there was a doubt in your mind).

Alas, Simon & Seamus, eat your heart out! This is what happens if you set the oven temperature too high (whether accidentlally or on purpose).
I don't think it was the rum I added to the cake mix, because I've since made a different cake (the recipe for which called for an apple, so I've also added my rum-raisins and I put some rum through the mix) as per mu traditional apple-pie recipe (hey, I'm Dutch and they sell rum in the supermarket here.....) I was gonna make an apple pie, but since that would've been too much for the small company on christmas day, I decided I'd stick to a cake.

Let me take the opportunity to say this:

Merry christmas to all!
