Quote from: Chicky on Sun 07/12/2014 22:58:29Fitz: Score! The first 30 minutes of Bioshock: Infinite were my favorite, I loved walking around Columbia and watching all the NPC's. If I can come close to this i'll be happy!

Wasn't the part in the church just mesmerizing? And then the beach, with a retro version of "Girls Just Wanna Have Fun" playing in the background. It's a shame that the rest of the game was pretty much all a non-stop urban battlezone. I *liked* it, and enjoyed playing it quite a bit, there were plenty of fun twists and tasty tidbits -- but expected it to be more like the initial part.

Could this be... the famed Scottish Game? :cheesy:

I'm getting a strong Bioshock: Infinite vibe here! Well, the Bioshock: Infinite early promos, at least :P

Yikes! But that's game development for ya -- a zillion of things you hoped would get done faster, and another zillion of issues you've never even thought of randomly popping up. Suffice it to say I'm still working on my unfinished MAGS August project (laugh)

Aaaanyway... looks so awesome I might even forgive the lack of gore ;)

Watch the link I gave from about 0:50 till 9:00 or so.

Yasssss!!! :cheesy: This looks and sounds super fun. So glad I could be a part it!

Well, if simplified GUI in an Indy game (pun intended) is a heresy, then Fate of Atlantis is the ultimate heresy against itself! :)

General Discussion / Re: New voice microphone

Quote from: Azure on Mon 17/11/2014 08:14:24I recommend any of the Blue USB mics Snowball ( basic) and Yeti ( slightly more expensive) both have onmi modes if you do want to podcast  but you can switch to single direction for VO.

Yeah, I'm using a Yeti, myself -- and you've heard my samples, Slasher. I'm not super happy with how some of them came out, but that's mostly me having trouble handling the surrounding's acoustics -- but I think I went pro once I got the idea to use my ironing board as the mic stand (laugh) Seriously, the padding does wonders in eliminating reverb.

I've been quiet over the past month -- but that's because I've been hard at work on the game, putting in crazy hours (up to 12 hours a day in the weekends) to get as much as I can done before I go into surgery. Then they cancelled the day before the date -- so I decided to continue my work. So, I give you a brand new screenie:

Magenta meeting a team of fellow superheroes

Also, this was my first attempt at making a font. Not quite there yet. I like the font itslf, but the thin automatic outline won't do in some cases. I actually created a ttf bold outline font to go with -- but it just won't fit, half of the letters look terribly displaced. It's not kerning, because I created the outline font first and then made the basic font by deleting the outer geometry, without changing any other setting. Oh well, I'll just make a pixel font with it, that should work.

Otherwise, the work's progressing nicely, actually. The first four rooms are pretty much done, the fifth needs some minor cutscene tweaks, and the only things still untouched are Room 6, the short outro/credits sequence and the audio editing.

Also - Silverspook, I don't think I need Jodie Foster. My girlfriend -- and my inspiration for Magenta -- has the same kind of tomboyish voice. So all I need is to do is seat her in front of a mic and CRACK THAT WHIP! (laugh)

Yamipanda, that made my day (laugh)

Also, Inspector Wadjet sounds like an idea for a Blackwell spin-off! Go go Wadjet Eye!

Yes! So looking forward to playing this! Loved the first two games.

Ooh, color me interested! The game-related angle gave me a few neat ideas!

Beautiful! It's like you got Alanis Morrissette to sing with Sixpence None The Richer playing :D

As haunting as these images might be, it's a game about Jack the Ripper. Not exactly a rom-com -- so I see no reason to sugar-coat it, either. Plus, Slasher didn't pull these photos off of some snuff database on Darknet or TOR, post-mortem pics of the victims are on Wikipedia for everyone to see. Hell, I've seen evening news show worse. Do I need to see pictures of a reporter or social worker about to be butchered by a religious fanatic whenever my homepage pops up? While I'm eating?! No, thank you. So whom do I sue?

Seriously! You have to release a making-of video of these. It isn't just top-notch pixel art, I love the choreography, too. You can see the effort and the mastery of every move, and the physics (gravity, etc) look very realistic. They're two athletic chicks, not feathers -- so it'd be unnatural for them to make these twelve yard jumps like they do in some games. Definitely looking forward to seeing more!
#356
Thanks :) Yeah, that last one really brings out the benefits of this style -- but I haven't quite mastered it yet, and most other backgrounds are on the minimalistic side. I admire the art in your games, Donald Dowell and Tales especially -- a really polished, organic style you got there.
#357
Hell yeah! That's one hot bunch of pixels!

I've been quiet for the past five weeks or so -- getting back to my online comic, AND recording voice-overs not for ONE but TWO upcoming AGS detective games (in both of which I play the suspect!), etc... But fear not, the project is not only very much alive -- but also expanding!

Meanwhile, here's a little screenie for you -- a mock news item:

Magenta being mistaken for a prostitute or/and an under-age person is a running joke in the game -- given her pink costume and deceivingly youthful looks. It'll get her into trouble many times throughout the game.

Quote from: ThreeOhFour on Mon 13/10/2014 01:42:16I want this. :cheesy:

Sadly, it doesn't seem like there's going to be one anytime soon. E-ink reader's -- oh yes! But why in the world would Amazon add a keyboard to it so that you could use it for writing? Who would ever want that? (roll) As usual, you can count on crafty post-Soviet folks to hack the thing and turn it into a little typewriter -- but it's still far from perfect. I'm afraid we'll see bionic eyes go on sale sooner than we'll get a proper eye-friendly e-ink tablet. Oh well...

Quote from: Gurok on Sat 11/10/2014 14:46:14You *might* run into some permissions issues if you're running it with an underprivileged account.

That's what happened to me when I transitioned from XP to Win7. I'm no expert, but since I'm the only user on this computer, I'd assume I'm the admin -- but nope, AGS would not let me save my project, because I'm obviously just this guy who's been granted limited license to use this PC by the almighty Skynet (laugh) The quick fix was to install AGS away from the system folders (it's placed in Program Filex x86 by default). Haven't had any issues since (knock on wood).
