Update - 27/02/15

NEW Teaser trailer! Crude, jerky, freeware recorded in game footage featuring some random game play vaguely related to the story, examples of intellectually stimulating dialog, and a flash of leg... twice (what a tease)! Extra points for spotting the walk behind bug. Oh, and a great track provided by - https://soundcloud.com/william-j-lepetomane/the-forsaken and http://www.newgrounds.com/audio/listen/471929

Granted but... shock horror... the wish is corrupted.

On Mandle's behalf, I wish everyone finishes their games bug free.

QuoteI came up with new ideas halfway through the development and rewrote entire sections of the game accordingly. Although I've wasted a lot of time, I don't know if I could have done it any other way.

We touched upon this one week in the AGS Anonymous group and it's nice to see I'm not the only one who develops like this.

I started by writing down in a word document the rough overarching story, and the puzzles specific to each chapter of the game (including the locations and the inventory items the player gets in each). When I started development I limited myself to working chronologically through the game one chapter at a time - one puzzle at a time. This meant that inevitably as I worked on the BG art, character sprites, dialog etc I had little ideas on how to improve puzzles (new locations, new characters, new inventory items) and in turn tie the in game world together. Now, as I come to the end of development, looking back through the original word document, the over arching story is mostly the same but some of the puzzles to complete the chapters are completely different because they naturally evolved to fit the game world I was creating.

I have a lot of respect for people who can envisage the full game, fully code it start to finish using 'skeleton' art, and then go back and do all the real artwork at the end. It requires a certain level of discipline and vision which I don't have.

Granted, but it doesn't come true.

I wish all my wishes were corrupted.

Granted, but it comes locked in an impenetrable box for which you do not have the key.

I wish jam filled donuts were a healthy food option.

Granted, but you quickly grow jealous of the cat's celebrity lifestyle and descend into a void of alcohol and drug fuelled hatred, until one day you finally snap and slip a copius cocktail of lethal prescription medication into the cat's dinner, resulting in you being dragged mercilessly through a high publicity murder trial and ending up in the electric chair wondering where it all went wrong.

I wish my N64 still worked.

Just gave this a go and it is a joy to look at. The animations are so smooth and the transition effect between indoor and outdoor is a thing of beauty. As noted in the detail it is fairly short and the player is somewhat guided along the rails for the majority of it (the hotel section for me was the exception) but this is all about storytelling. I'll definitely be playing through again to make some different choices.

Granted. But you can only time travel forwards one second at a time.

I wish I was a transformer.

I loved this game - great little story, nice puzzles and simple but very effective visual style. All together it works fantastically well.

I'm going to be foolish and state that 2015 is going to be the year I release this - http://www.adventuregamestudio.co.uk/forums/index.php?topic=41089.msg543611#msg543611

I CAN DO IT!

Stone Cold Steve Austin and Vinnie Jones... in an AGS game. This has gold star written all over it!
#319
Nothing wrong with a  bit of gore - Mortal Kombat's primary selling point!

Nice idea for a game... some would say similar to classic Japanese movie Battle Royale. Me? I would say more akin to Hollywood masterpiece 'the Condemned' starring the one and only Stone Cold Steve Austin (because he said so?), the greatest Welsh actor since Sir Anthony Hopkins... Vinnie Jones, and Dee from Neighbours (she's not dead Toady!).

In no way take this post as a recommendation to also watch Legend of the Bog. It's legend... wait for it.... no, no it isn't.

That concept art is fantastic - can't wait to see the final background!
