Data is plural,

Datum is singular

That is correct of course, but I would say most people nowadays would say in conversation "That data is interesting" rather than "These data are interesting" (except in scientific papers etc.). I probably would myself even though it is technically wrong  :(

I knew that maths GCSE would come in handy one of these days ;D

Ask everyone to move to room 2n where n is each guest's room number, thereby freeing up every other room (odd numbers) for the guests' friends?

This issue affects other areas too: It has always been a pet peeve amongst puritans that people use the object form in comparisons "Johnny is bigger than me", and the language law enforcers have advocated the usage of "Johnny is bigger than I", although I think this controversy is slowly waning, as people find it completely silly to say things like "I'm bigger than she".

I think that a lot of people would get round that by saying "Johnny is bigger than I am" and "I'm bigger then she is" (which is probably what I would say) but I don't know if, gramatically speaking, that's really any better.

Also on the Latin/Germanic thing I think based on is the key here, but languages (particularly English) tend to do their own funny things for reasons best known to themselves. Rules are all very well and good, but look at the number of irregular plurals/verbs etc. we have.

I don't know... I was pretty let down when buck rogers didn't appear at the millenium :(

Not exactly an Adventure game, but a few friends at school and I sometimes played a real life version of 80's childrens TV show Knightmare! One person would be the dungeonmaster and set a "room" for the other players to guide the blindfolded one through, with the usual sort of challenges.

That probably won't make a lot of sense unless you have seen the TV show but it was so cool that I hardly even felt like a geek (well... ;D) playing it!

OK,

I seem to have let this one slip away due to being stupidly busy this week (or maybe stupid and busy?). Also that means no trophies, sorry about that  :(

First Place goes to Darkshine for the crazy punk head! Good use of the shape and basically I think flame hair is cool 8)

Second Place goes to Wonkyth's head crab, hope you get better soon! ;)

Third Place to Jim with his insane white rabbit wig! I like this one, but seeing as it's a colouring ball and it's in black and white...

Seriously, well done to all. In retrospect it wasn't a good idea but you've all done well with it.

Good luck to Darkshine hosting the next colouring ball.

There is also the point that by doing a remake you can work on a game that you love, and likely fell in love with as a child, I can see how that would be cool.

Furthermore, AGD's VGA remakes of the old Kings Quest games have probably helped introduce them to a new generation of gamers who were put off by the look of the originals. Don't know if that is exactly advancing gaming, but it's certainly advancing kings quest!

I can't agree with legalisation or that it is no worse than tobacco.

I would guess that anyone who has been a weed smoker, or around them, has a mate whom it has affected. Plenty of my mates smoke tobacco but it is only amongst my friends who do weed/skunk that I see some people (not all by any means but those who do it more) who start losing interest in going out, seeing other people, or infact doing anything that doesn't involve crashing round a mates house, or their own and smoking it. This doesn't happen just because of tobacco or alcohol (although of course they have their problems too).

To be honest I'm mistrustful of the "science" quoted by various people which seems to range from "it does nothing to you" to "it will destroy your mind". But from my own observation I know that it affects some people to the extent of losing their jobs, breakup of relationships etc. and just seeming to not care. I admit that this is probably a small percentage of people who smoke it (but probably a greater percentage of "heavy" users), but to me that is more than enough reason to prevent its legalisation.

On a hot July day a few summers ago, Mrs. Degree and I were walking along by the side of a river in Surrey. Eventually we lay down on the grassy bank listening to the sound of the water and looking up at the sky as a few solitary clouds drifted across. Suddenly Mrs Degree said "Hey look, that cloud looks just like a ..."

Luckily we were able to get a picture...

Wow, didn't expect to win this as it was hardly an original idea! I'm away from my computer all this week and so unable to host the next one until the weekend. If anyone wants to start another one sooner than this please feel free.

I know, I can't believe it is still going at all!

@Calin

When someone mentions Granny's Garden that is the first image I think of! I can hardly remember the rest but I remember getting sent home loads, especially by the witch.

Check out a modern version of that funky theme tune here! 8)

The only thing that I would say is that the magnifying glass icon in the See More Posts box looks too big and too luminescent (if that's the right word ???). Otherwise it's looking good.

Anyone remember Granny's Garden?

Certainly do, also from the old computers we had at school. I can still remember the theme tune now! ;D

Couldn't resist it!

Because nothing says Shadow Hunter like a Lion fighting a Snake. 8)

Love the art style.

At first I couldn't think what it reminded me of, but it is Quentin Blake of course! Really cool! ;D
