I'm not sure if I've quoted this off somewhere or not, but I find it pretty true most of the time.

"The destination doesn't matter, it's the going forwards that does."

The first step is to contact the author and a) notify them the link is broken, b) ask them if they can fix it and c) ask them if they know another place to get the game from. If all that fails for a reason or another there's always the forementioned rest of the community to help you out finding them.

I never liked it on XP but I do love it on 7 :) More often than not I need just one or a few files off an archive, so why should I be unpacking the whole thing over and over again to get to those files when I can access them just like the files in the folder next door? Too bad every archiving software seems to insist on breaking this behaviour, so I didn't associat 7zip with anything, I just settle with using it off the context menu. And it still broke useful native Windows stuff. Thus, I don't like RARs either, having to install extra stuff to mess up things to get to them.

It's a bit of a trend that there first comes a new shiny full of fancy new functions Windows, which then gets a refined and working update. 95 -- 98, ME -- XP, Vista -- 7.

And m0ds is absolutely right. The times I've used Vista in the past I was rather lost with it. Now that I've gotten into how 7 works I can actually use Vista without the previous chaos and frusturation, unless it inexplainably BSODs on me or something...

You might like Sacred too. I haven't still finished it but I've liked it so far, an open world feel and all to it.

I'd have afforded it if I didn't eat for the next two months, but I see enough of Pablo's face anyway to not make it worth the while with such little crowd. Sorry I (apparently) voided your packing of stuffs.

General Discussion / Re: Google Wave

So far Hotspot's been basically writing down my thoughts on the matter.

I don't really mind Google ads -- as long as the website author positions them somewhere smart -- as they're just a bit of text. On the other hand about everything else, all the blinking, bandwidth consuming huge banners which at worst cases play unprompted sounds are really not amusing or interesting at all.

No, Facebook will get a wave API and get plugged in to the whole thing. Thus allowing people on Facebook to communicate with all the people on Wave, thus enabling them to communicate with all the people on about anything else plugged into Wave. What will Facebook lose? I don't know. But it might stop losing users on the grounds of people going where their friends are for example, even if that's a marginal group. Seems to me that the point is you don't need to move to Wave, you can just connect your current stuff to it. Sounds good enough.

Indeed, if this thing turns out what it's promised to be and picks up proper I suppose it'll more or less revolutionise communication. I know for one I'd love to have all my contacts in one place in a manageable form instead of having to use a half a dozen applications and visit a dozen pages just get a heads up on what the few people I'm interested in are doing. Ofcource too much at one place is too much, so there's always the chance the whole thing getting too crowded. But I have a feeling they'll work around that in a way or another.

I don't have a motorcycle at hand, but will a rocket ship do?

I had a pretty solid seeming idea but I'll be internetless beyond the deadline (until the 2nd of June or so, so it's not just slightly over) so it's very unlikely I could make it. But not impossible.

I used to hate Facebook after I had joined since back then it was a mess of applications on applications. Then they revamped it once and I got into it, learned quick how it works and got adjusted to it. Sharing just the info I want people to be able to see, etc. Then they revamped it again a bit and I was all confused with it, but got used to the current look and it's all good again.

I tend to learn how things work and then work my way around annoyances and problems rather than run into them time after time and make a racket of it every time, so I'm not really worried on the privacy front there anyway.

Chrome. Because I like it.

To the unimaginable amount of joy of the masses I have to pretty much say I can make it and so would be rather surely coming.

If I got an euro every time I see someone has discovered the Youtube error and is all over the place about it... :P

But yeah, it's somewhat amusing.

I do like GTA4 while I don't have to suffer of the horrible controls and the lack of stuff that just seems way too logical to be there to shine with it's absence. And the way it's all built, the lenght you have to go to simply load a game or get to a multiplayer game. Maybe consoles just aren't designed for me then... So I'd prefer they keep the PC games PC games.

After seeing GTAIV I wouldn't let Rockstar near a Duke Nukem game. Not one as promising as Forever is based on that video.

Based on that video the game would have probably been the best 3D shooter ever, just after Doom. Sad to see them go, I do hope the game doesn't die along with them.

* Added Applies To feature to custom properties, so that you can have properties that only apply to Rooms or Characters, for example

Finally, thank you! :) I've been waiting for this since the dawn of properties or so.

And the new audio system seems very spiffy. A thought that crossed my mind on handling places that want a number, score sound etc.: Have a pre-set audio file name that you set the desired audio file to, and it's automatically used? Like you set aScoreSound on some clip and you're all set. Ofcource this wouldn't work just like that for everything, but I don't see why it wouldn't work. But it might need a good reference on the manual, unless the editor provides one on the fly for the more complex currently number-based sound bits.
