DG gave me the idea to start this thread ^_- I think the sex topic is getting a little too nice, we need to fire people up again! Yes, controversy, arguments, hate! My plans for worldwide destruction are coming int- ... I mean, I think this would be a very stimulating topic that may lead to greater cooporation and understanding in the world.

Where do you stand on the topic of drugs? Before I go on, let me say to all you nitpickers that I'm talking about THOSE drugs... you know. Not caffiene, not medicinal drugs, not emotional drugs... those BAD drugs.

With that, my stance is pretty obvious. I have 0 tolerance for them. I hate them. I don't think any stupid drug should be legal, and teenagers are often idiots. Who gave teenagers permission to do anything, anyway?

All you pot smokers out there? This means you, too. It's bad, and it makes you stupid and dead. It pisses all the rest of us who have to deal with you off, too.

...and yes, I think alcohol is okay. Alcohol in reasonable doses is fine, and is used by lumberjacks and big breasted women. Pot is for hippies. Damn those hippies! I hate them so!

*GASP!* You people are wonderful! Comparing my main character to two of greatest characters ever -_- Simon and Fry! *sniff* Thankyou.

EDIT: Oh, and sunshine, could you tell me exactly which action you performed before getting the error message?

EDIT2: Oh, and AGA... I do have plans for 3 more games at least. It's just a matter of working out which one to do first. I'd like to do a sequel to Cirque (I have some nice ideas for that one), another similar styled game, and another completely different game featuring some of my hand drawings... in my mind, it looks great!.

It's a good idea, but I think it'd create problems when someone left the forums, or changed their email address. Once you've made a game, you're unlikely to want to go back years later and release a new version just to change the email address stored in it.

Then again, what do I know? ^_^;;

I wonder how many of the thousands or millions of people in the world called Jesus make a 'second coming' joke after/during/before sex. Does anyone know the word for 'coming' or 'ejaculating' in Spanish? ^_^ I only took Spanish for a year, so I never got around to learning all those REALLY useful words...

I may very well find some other chick who can weild a katakana sexy...

I'm talkin' about a samurai sword here... who's talking about fighting ninja's with the japanese alphabet!?!?!?!?!?!  XD

Argh.. OK, you caught me on an "off" day there. So, my brain was spaced when I wrote that :P Damnit! Just to help my repuation a bit, I HAVE done 4 years of Japanese at university! Trust me!!!

I also saw Kill Bill 1 today for the first time. I was very impressed - it's shiny stuff. I had a lot of problems with things I had heard about it but watching it, none of them were so bad! It just goes to show that you shouldn't judge something until you've seen it, or at least been told about it by someone that's actually reliable.

Was I the only one that desperately wanted Lucy Lui to win that fight? Uma Thurman's a decent actress, I'll say that, but I watched that movie with as big an open mind as I could manage and I just couldn't find her attractive. That black chick at the start though? Wow ^_^ All I can say is "What a waste!"

I haven't had a chance to look at it yet, but I'm almost certain that particular line of code is from the MI2 template. It makes it harder for me to figure out if it's my problem or not... I'll check it out later though, as I said.

There are a couple of points that aren't totally clear. I stared blankly at that condition about the green house being "to the left" of the white one for a while. I went with my instinct and assumed it meant the immediate left and luckily that was right. I don't think (thought I'm not sure) that you can solve it by taking it the other way. It seems too non-specific, but maybe it can be done. Would anyone care to try? ^_-

here's my review of it for Adventure Gamers. It basically says the same thing as this post, only in slightly more detail :)

Oooooooooooooooooooh! Thanks! My first review... and such a nice one! I feel all squishy inside -_-

Hmm, I'll check that problem out when I get home (I'm at uni right now), thanks for letting me know. Which version have you got, btw? (it should say in the readme file).

The latest version (1.2) has been out for awhile and it available from the same link. I'm just uploading the new versions over the old ones.

I think I did it. I need confirmation but... Oh, I'll just -die- if I was wrong -_-

It took me about an hour and a couple of scraps of paper (I'm pretty methodical). I imagine most decently intelligent people would be able to do this these days, as long as their willing to take the time to work it out (and not on their computers >:)

I think that's the catch though, a lot of people would just give up after 5 minutes.

EDIT: WOOHOO! I'm smart!

I may very well find some other chick who can weild a katakana sexy (if she was sexy BEFOREHAND - I can't say that lunch lady Dorris would do it for me no matter how much of a skilled killer she was), but not an actress being made to LOOk like she can weild one ^_-

I also hate her name. Sorry to anyone named Uma but... my god, it's just awful! @_@

Oops, I accidentally said "hide" before... sorry about that. I meant "rescue" ^_^ I'm afraid it's just not possible.

Maybe you can write a fanfic with a different ending, or where she rescues herself in heroic circumstances!

Yes!! YESSSSSSS!!! Someone SAID IT!

You are truly a Monk of Electricity. I was really hoping -someone- would mention a link to Simon -_- Thankyou for making my day!

Could you give me some more information? Use the basket of goodies on what?

You just have to click at the bottom of the screen towards the centre to get out of the witch's...

Spoiler
You can't hide the princess - sorry ^_^
[close]

I haven't written a walkthrough yet. I suppose I'd like to leave it for a bit so I get a good idea of the bits people have trouble with. Give me a couple of weeks and I'll write one.

I will of course answer any individual requests for hints until then.

1. Lucasarts and Sierra, predominantly (gee, what a shock).

2. I think perhaps, if I had to say something... inventory that you use to solve puzzles. I agree with everyone who has said that it's essentially undefinable. It's a combination of several things and the feeling of the game. I thought "Lack of a battle system" was a good one, but then I remembered the QFG games.

3. Dunno really.

4. 1. Monkey Island 1
   2. Monkey Island 2
   3. Simon the Sorcerer 2 (I can't believe noone ever mentions this game!)
   4. QFG 2
   5. QFG 1

It's not in my top 5 but I thought it was worth a mention - does anyone remember a great, early, text-based adventure game called Legend? You were on an island yadda yadda... Man, I loved that but never finished it. If anyone knows where I could get a copy, please let me know!

I don't think any of those other games like Zelda are adventure games, either.

I agree that having sex on a first date (given that a date is someone you're considering for a serious relationship) is a bad idea. I don't think it's "wrong" as such but... you know, is probably not a smart decision.

If you're after casual sex though, and the other person is after the same thing, ain't nothing wrong with that ^_^

No, no, that's fine. It's no secret, I used the exact same pixels in the face as the original Guybrush. It was completely contrived (if that's a good word to use) so that the game really did have that original feel. When you're working with so few pixels, it's very hard to try and achieve the same "look" without doing it exactly. ^_^ I used Guybrush as a "muse" for the height and stance but it's not copied. The only thing copied pixel for pixel is the face, the rest was like sketching.

I didn't want to create a completely original game, I wanted to create my own story that was nostalgic of the old Monkey Island (and another game that absolutely noone has mentioned so I won't say it myself).

The walk cycle had nothing to do with the original, it was like the first thing I ever animated. I know it looks a little weird, I don't think it's bad though... @_@ How many people are amazing animators off the bat with no training?

I truly hope this doesn't ruin too much of the game for you. It was supposed to be like this, I wasn't trying to create a game for the commercial market - just for fun and as a tribute to my favourite game(s).

Ahhh. Well, if you're willing to download it again, the new version (1.2) should be free of all those bugs people told me about. I -hope- there aren't anymore... @_@ Sorry about releasing a buggy version in the first place! I thought me and my beta crew had found them all.

I don't find her attractive at all. She's got that permanent 'drug-#@$!ed' look about her.
