Messages - Le Woltaire

Thanks for the entry Viking.
You win.

I see this as a battle of two music typologies.
A vienna waltz and a country western.
It's just a pitty that the second banjo mainly takes
over the second violin part in the vienna waltz.
I guess the first banjo won then...?

One of my composer friends had written a horn flute duel long time ago.
It was performed several times with plenty of success here and there.
Here is a part of it and a part of the score:

You still can enter...

There is no entry.

I will add three days now to the deadline.

Please post something otherwise I can't chose a winner...

I say:
Let's make it a bit more open then.
Write me any type of musical duel.

Banjo vs Banjo
Violin vs Tuba
Guitar vs Piano
etc...

Maybe we have more fun like this.

Just a note:
General Midi Program 106 is called Banjo...

We all know this famous adventure scene:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I4nJNaQIrsc&feature=related

Please write me a musical duel.

Rules:
-You have to use two instruments that compete against each other for this.
-You can use real instruments / Midi / VST libraries and so on.
-The winner among them is up to you.
-Examples: Banjo vs Banjo
                  Violin vs Trumpet
                  Horn vs Flute
                  etc.

Good luck.

OK, two entries:

Well I liked both.
It's difficult to decide I recognize now, because the two items and musics are very different.

What I can say from a just musical perspective is:

Cadillac entry by Questionable:
It fit's very well to the scene of a cadillac driving through a desert or something.
Could be a part of the background music of an old Wim Wenders movie.
On the other side it's a bit homogenous. It remains in the same key and doesn't manage to get to an ending...
But I really know the problem to bring it to an end when you have pinned it to a key...
It's really difficult to get out of those tunes...

Lego entry by Viking:
Also here I can understand that it fits. I am particulary talking about the synthetic generation,
the rapid key changing and so on... On the other side it's just an adaption to already existing music.
It can be pretty heard where it all comes from. Hm it's very often like this in your entries.
Last time I heard Prokovieff and Stravinsky fragments.
This time it's a mix between John Williams with some symphonic Mahler moves...
Have you studied film score composition in America?
But for one day it shows a lot of manual abilities.
Like a LEGO castle probably.

Viking for the next turn!

Ok, I will decide the winner tomorrow morning.
So If anyone has an idea for an eBay music,

I ocasionally stumbled on a possible bug.

I have two hotspots in my new game:

1: Hose (German for pants)
2: Schlauch (German for Hose)

In the English translation file they are:

1: Pants
2: Hose

When I play the game in English instead of "Hose" I get "Pants" over the hotspot.
I believe AGS doubles the translation in such a case...

Not a serious bug but at least an interesting one...

Pick an eBay article that you are currently watching and make music about it.

Rules:
- The eBay article still has to be in sale at this moment.
- You have to post the link to the article or a description/picture of it when you post the music.
- Every musical style, musical concept, instrument or way to produce sounds is allowed.
- It should be understandable for me what your music has to do with the ebay article.

I don't have a contract with ebay...
I just have accepted digital consumism...
But we could ask them to sponsor AGS right now!
Yeah!

Argh...
I always hate it when I win this...
I usually try to make my entries as shitty as possible so I am allowed to partecipate in the next one... :P
My tune was almost a cover version as well by the way...
Thanks.

General Discussion / Re: Life on mars.

I have no doubt that micro-organisms have/do exist on Mars and that intelligent life is possible elsewhere. But intelligent life landing on Mars and carving a big rock that looks like a face from one of Le Woltaire's games - hardly likely! ;)

Long time ago, when my ancestors from Krypton got into the solar system they had that funny hobby to use a plasma gun and made portraits into planet surfaces. I was very young at that time and couldn't understand why it was so much fun for them. But now, that I am trying to bring this tradition into contemporary amateur adventure games, I absolutely have to say: It is a lot of fun, especially when it is really ugly.

From what I remember life on mars didn't exist at that time. My ancestors tried to find a perfectly suitable planet where they could reproduce themselves with local species. This was only possible on earth, which is one of the reason why I am stuck here, since the starcraft's warp engine has broken. I have to wait for contemporary science to be able to produce large quantities of anti-matter in order to get back home.

Arabian Love Nights:

Changed a bit into quarter tones and other values...hope it's ok.
Oh by the way:
From my current point of view beats in music don't even exist...

That plucked instrument was some kind of midi thingy.
I can't remember what it was called.
But it was there and I could load it into my digital piano from the pc.
So I thought I could use it...

Since I borrowed the midi interface from a composer friend I am having lot's of fun with this stuff.
Now I discovered that I can even load those VST libraries onto my keyboards.
So be prepared for the next tune stuff!
Hua ha ha ha!
