Two ways.

Have the desk as an object and set it's "baseline" to a value lower than the baseline of the character.  (http://www.adventuregamestudio.co.uk/site/ags/tutorial/ags/4/)

OR

Have the desk as part of the background, and draw a "walk-behind" with a baseline lower than the baseline of the character.  (http://www.adventuregamestudio.co.uk/site/ags/tutorial/ags/2/)

Doesn't the desk baseline need to be lower physically than the character's y-location, but higher numerically as the y-location starts at zero at the top of the screen and increases downwards?

Also: The window object will need to be done the same way, but with its Transparency setting changed: Maybe to something like 80% or higher, depending on how much you want to be seen through it.

A lot of this stuff, and a lot of other useful stuff as well, is covered in the AGS Tutorial, and there is also an excellent (and extensive) "How To Use AGS" tutorial series on YouTube. These will really get you on the fast-track to becoming confident with the AGS engine.:)

Monty Python

Monty sounds a bit like Mountie, which is the nickname for the Canadian mounted police.
Mara(thon). A kind if race.
And that comes after py, or pi (which as you described looks like this Ïâ,¬), although pi is Greek not Roman if I'm not mistaken.

Spoiler
YUP!!! You got it! Good explaining the solution too....

A few things though: "you did not join the Canadian police" meant to subtract the "u" from "Mountie" which becomes "Montie" and sounds like "Monty". The other thing was: It doesn't matter that "Pi" is not Roman. I used "Roman" only for Roman Numerals so you could get the symbol for Pi from putting a Roman Numeral 1 horizontal over the numeral for 2 and thus making the symbol for Pi...

VERY well figured out though!

Someone hit us up with a new one please!

Yay! Best....answer....EVAAAAA!!!

Okay I will take the next one. It's not AGS related:

It sounds like you did not join the Canadian police. And Mara did not join a race, after what sounds like a Roman threesome with one lying on top of two standing (5,6)

(Maybe we should start to explain all stages of the solution when posting answers. This is kinda becoming a bit of a guess-fest and it's much more satisfying for the puzzle-maker and the puzzle-solver to figure the whole thing out....or not...)

Ahh clever. I thought the same answer based on the number of letters, but had no idea how to get there.

Yeah, I too went looking for the right number of letters in a name, and reverse-engineered the solution from there. Never would have gotten it otherwise ;)

Errrmmmm...I will pass on explaining the full solution for this one, except to say that I do not think that word is spelled exactly right if it's what I think it is... :-[

"1 2 A noise" refers to "A B" represented by number code and a "DIN" is a noise

I finally downloaded and played the game, yet to download the sequel...

And one thing I must say is that: The voice acting is really, really GOOD...

That's Qptain Nemo if I read the credits right?

I need that exact kind of voice for my current project!

Best of luck with your project! Sounds like a great way to keep a long-distance relationship active and relevant...

I would like to advise you to download Heroine's Quest: The Herald Of Ragnarok and take a look, if you haven't played it before. It will really show you what can be achieved as an RPG using the AGS engine (granted it is an Adventure Game/RPG hybrid and not a classic top-down map-based RPG).

It also won every award in the world at the last AGS Awards except for the ones it was ineligable for (and even they were close I think (laugh) )

I have no idea what "after half-way through a northern leap" refers to.
[close]

Spoiler
"Leap" was a synonym for Spring and halfway through (the season) would mean April in the northern hemisphere. The bracketed part spelled (sic.) meaning you had to misspell "sex" as "seks", reverse it and add the "i" in the middle before putting it "after" April.

Please detail how you came by the solution in a hidden post...I'm working on a game that includes exactly these kind of cryptic word puzzles and would like to know a bit about how peoples' minds work when solving them...

Please warn us so we know to avoid this game when released...

Error: Walkable area ends before screen edge is reached.

The popularity of this thread kind of encourages me to give it another go actually...
Well that has secretly always been my intention when I made this thread of course. ;)

Well then thank you very much indeed! It's been about a year and a half since this RAM-ghost has been knocking on the door of its haunted room in my brain wanting to be let out, and I even went back to the dusty old folder it was locked away in yesterday and did some pretty productive work on it.

At the time I conceived the game I had no idea how to properly code in AGS, and I have only advanced a few steps since then, but I have awesome mentors who support the less-talented in such regards so my RAM-ghost might finally get out of its attic!

but unsure if the "unwell" part of the clue relates to that or the next bit?

Spoiler
You are exactly on the right track, but the "unwell" part is vital in putting the "i" exactly in the middle of "sex"...or rather "xes"...I really should have put "unwell" in brackets, as in (unwell) but it just looked ugly and spoiled the flow of the sentence...

Main hint is now adjusted to be slightly more clear...
