the reason for that is pretty simple my friend.
The American media has found it pretty profitible not to write about affiars outside of America. The BBC, for example, does a great job of reporting events outside its own country, and the English are much more about foriegn affairs then America. The only mainstream media outlets that report much outside of America are the New York Times and the odd AP story. The times is very expensive for people not living in NY, and AP storys only get published when they are huge enough of other papers to pick them up.

Thankfuly, the internet is helping to bridge this gap, and give Americans more foriegn news stories.

I dont really understand the whole KQ1 being timless simply because it was revolutionary arguement. Games are classics based on their own merits. Yeah, it might have been kick arse in 1984, but it didnt stand the test of time. It was outdated really before even 1990. The king quest games as a whole are timeless, and certainly a few of them indivudually can be considered timeless, (in my view anyways. KQ5 and KQ6 spring to mind), but not so much the first.

prehaps, but I douby anybody would take us serious then...after all, almost every single minorty student in our school was in the marching band. I dont see my town's lone jewish student in any hurry to take up nazi signs...

The reason that we bought ad space is that its seen by members of the community, (administrators, rich people in town, etc) who may not remember we dont have one. For some reason, we got some rich school supporters to complain about us not having a band last year, and we almost raised enough hell to get the school to field one (albeit a very small one). We need more then just student support, and the newspaper is read by all.

plus, maybe some parent will bully their kid into joining.

We are also making posters, flyers, and other stunts to inspire dialog about bring band back.

The Maltese Falcon (the John Huston, 1941 version) - Humphrey Bogart as Sam Spade ... need I say more??
The Manchurian Candidate (John Frankenheimer, 1962)

And of course,
Casablanca and It's a Wonderful Life.  No list would be complete without those two.

But what about Steamboat Willie??  What a classic!!!

these are my fav black and white movies to, with maltese falcon being the best

sounds like our school. The chess club is also well represented with student council officers and "popular" people. Plus, the chess club shirts are always a laugh. I loved the one they did last year, with the "rules of chess club"

1. dont talk about chess club
2. dont talk about chess club
