I don't understand what you mean by the rooms repeatedly execute. Uh? Where's this? Excuse me for being a nimbecile...

I have this midi... it has a sort of starting theme for when you first enter the town, and then it goes into the tune that I want to loop. But I don't want it to loop from the BEGINNING, it you catch my drift, but from a few seconds INTO the midi.

I was wondering if there was a way to do this in AGS. I'm pretty sure there is but I can't figure it out. Also, is there any way you can add layers. Ah, again, I can't explain what I'm asking for. I mean like in MI2, where you walk to different areas of Woodtick for example, and it plays different 'layers' of the midi over the original, or something.

Yeah speaking of which, Mark... what was with that this morning? You left a pool of slime. Jeeze, you're not meant to leave slime. What happened? Did the bag split? Man, do I hate it when bin men leave slime. Shame on you, Mark.

A ten year old DOES do it.

Raz.

You can join yourselves up, I just realized. Just search for my email address (Yufster@ZZZyahoo.com) and add me as a friend. Duh me! Then I think you get my friend list or something. Or Raz RAZPUTIN@ZZZDOUBLEFINE.COM. Leave a testimonial!!! to Raz!

That's it, I'm not signing any more people up, I'm tired! sign yourselves up! Also, there's a nice network of Lucasforums/AGS people on there now and it's nice. I like it.

Whoops, did I just edit all this?

Hm.... I have a similar problem... the First time I compile it after  I start up the computer, it crashes like that, but the second time it works fine. I also run XP and AGSv2.56

Try testing it in window mode (or full screen, if you already have it in window mode) by clicking FILE  -- >  SETUP  --- > Run in window mode

Not sure what this is in Spanish. :)

It's odd that it happens with the executable too, though. Are you sure your character is starting in a room that exists?

Damn, if only I'd paid attention in spanish class. Let's see if I can compromise with bad italian instead...

Bonjourno! Uh.

Well, there goes THAT.

Welcome to the AGS community... or welcome BACK, perhaps. Anyway, in answer to your question, there are plenty of tutorials and webpages that can help you in your design of a game. For a pretty much complete list of these websites, go here. There are tons of websites listed that can help you.

Again, welcome back. Or something.

Excellent! Doesn't it make you PROUD?! Or something!???

But... the bit about how to play adventure games was depressing. Really, REALLY depressing.

God, now I'm depressed. Thanks a LOT.

If you're going to be selling it, maybe we can give you lots of review quotes to stick on your game boxes...

This quote is perfect!

Yay, I CONTRIBUTED something useful!!! Kinda.

But does that explain why it didn't believe there was a view 30, even before I switched to the newer version of AGS? I only switched because it insisted there was no view 30 .

Okay. Take these simple steps and begone:

1. When posting a question in the forums, wait for an answer before you post it AGAIN, and AGAIN, and then start PMing people with the exact same question, especially when they've ALREADY ANSWERED IT.

2. Now, turn off your computer. Walk to the edge of a cliff. Walk off the edge.

3. In spirit form, when you are unable to type because you are a ghost, try reading the numerous answers people have already given you. If you are illiterate, go to step 4.

4. Go to school.

Thank god I keep my computer like a trash can. Do you mind if I send it to you over MSN or AOL? Only Geocities takes forever, and with large uploads it tends to screw up. It's 1.90mb.

MSN: Yufster@hotmail.com
AOL:YufsterChan

I'll be on for ages.

Let's see...

Five minutes later

Huh, no. That's pretty weird. I only see 29. I definately copied this from the original file which insisted it had 40 views. Let's try editing this file...

I just made view 30 in that file... and it all worked absolutely perfectly. I can also edit the game in the editor as well. Which is weird, because... it's exactly the same file as the file that I can't edit with the editor with. What? ???

I'm gonna try copying over the 'old' version of this file in the original BR directory now...

30 seconds later...

Oh my dear god. Ahhh! For some reason, if it's used in conjuction with all the other files from that folder, not ONLY does the editor refuse to edit, but it INSISTS that view 30 doesn't exist. What the hell!?

Does that make any sense? Is there a mutiny in the original BR folder? Let's try moving my OLD stuff... into the NEW folder instead! I'll single out the gangleader!!!!

Somewhat later...

It seems that those files I sent you on their own work fine... but coupled with any other file, they don't. I'm still working out which file it is that doesn't like them...

Much, much, much later...

I put all the room and music files into the new folder with the 'working' files. It works fine, just dandy. Do I even NEED the other files?

Quite a bit later, in fact

It recreates all the files anyway when you save the game.... like "editor" and "backup.dta" so technically, all the same files are there, except they actually WORK. Could it have been corrupted at one stage, IE when I was saving it? It all works fine now.

I'll describe exactly what I did:

I removed those files from the original folder to send to you, but they worked fine for you. They also worked fine for me... when not in the original folder. So I made a new folder for them, and moved all the ROOM and MUSIC files into the new folder. I loaded it on AGS, and all the problems were solved. It now can count higher than 29, and allows me to edit. On saving the game, it recreated the files "editor" and "backup.dta" so that there were exactly the same files as in the old folder, but these ones work.

Sounds like a corrupted file, huh?
