The video is truly a piece of art.

This is the highly subjective sound of waking up in the afterlife... with a hangover:

I've enjoyed your bizarre games so far, so I guess I look forward to this one too... ;)

I tried the demo. I like the absurdity you seem to drag the game into, and the TV-sequence was good. Nice atmosphere. The initial key "puzzle" is a placeholder I guess...? I also hope there'll be more meat to it (establishment/story/gameplay) before the funky stuff gets going. It so much cooler to put a half-told story in a new perspective, than just the 2-3 introductory sentences. I look forward to play the full game!

Edit: I almost forgot the picture of something old. It is now above the door.

To make this thing work, the game world needs to be clearly defined - it should be obvious that talking to bananas would be useless. The player must feel what kind of experimenting makes sense according to the situation.

The player is forced to pay attention to what is going on, what clues are given and how the game world works. The creator must make sure it's all clearly presented, and that it's an interesting world to be in. The goal is to keep the player so hooked onto it that s/he drives the plot forward at a good pace and is never clueless. Pointless experimenting digresses from the world and makes the experience far less interesting.

On my current project I'm working on this system to avoid the player just trying everything on everything without a clue. Every time s/he tries something like "talk to banana" s/he is awarded 1 idiot point. After 50 points s/he is kicked out of the game.

Wow, that's a nice bunch of entries!

Tocsik: I like how the smoke looks, and the waving of his hair! This might be your first successful attempt at animation, it surely shouldn't be your last!
Mikko: Very nice job! This absurd behaviour, I love that! Highlights include the dust when he hits the floor, and the motion blurring, esp that on the arm is really good. Solid work!
Flukezy: No I didn't! It's a very cool twist!
Coolio: That's such a clever way to avoid the usual walkcycle! A fantastic turn of events in this one! It makes me think of the great absurd slapstick of the golden era.
Silvertrumpet: Finally, our hero seems to be on top of the situation! Is he in love? He seems to be almost flying!
Darth: Had me burst out in laughter! A great job. This moment - the time he takes before    he pushes the button, genious!

Everyone managed to bring personality to the guy, and you folks have some crazy imagination. I had a hard time picking the winner. It's so unfair when you see all the work that has gone into the entries, but there can only be one... and for the greatest achievement in technical brilliance, humour and timing, I pick Darth Mandarb as the winner. He will recieve the prize of becoming the next host of the animation competition! Congratulations!

No problem, SilverTrumpet!

BTW, really good entries!

Anyone else planning on entering have 24 hours from now.

It's all fun and friendly competition. I love it. If you don't win, maybe you can try harder next time. Maybe your background was good but not good enough. Every time I don't win a BG Blitz I get depressed, turn to alcohol and go through though times. But I don't whine all over the forums. ;) IMO Ildu and Loominous made the best entries, and it appears they worked really hard to achieve that quality, for this they deserve my votes.
#173
Idea: Loominious. Hehehe. That's the ultimate prison cell.
Design: Ildu. Very cool framing. Is this made in flash? Or is it photoshop with paths? Maybe some finishing touches would have brought out the depth more, but still very good.
Functionality: Clip. You've got a great feel for simple, well-balanced and functional backgrounds.
Technique: Loominous. It's a bit sketchy, but the creepy old classroom-feeling is definitely there. The sense of claustrophobia, frustration and eternal boredom. The only form of escape is drawing cartoon figures in the notebooks or on the walls. I'd love seeing it finished.

The idea behind the picture is cool.

This paintover is really a mess...

...but I wanted to show a different way of composing the image, as your original composition is hard to rest the eyes on. Both your lightsources are stuffed into the left part of the image, while the right part is empty. I also suggest another way of arranging the path up to the castle to add depth layers, and added lights along it (and at the castle door). This is just to give you some ideas. Sorry about the new sign, I don't like it either. Maybe doing like Mad suggests and put it in the light from the lamp would look better.

Adding the activated verb to the @Overhotspot@ would normally eliminate problems of icon-readability, eg. "Open" when clicked changes to "Open door" when mouse over door.

This time around, the object is to make this guy:

Thanks guys!

QuoteYou have the opening words zooming by at like a thousand-miles-an-hour, and pausing it, it's blurry. Does it actully say anything of interest, or just a bunch of random junk?
It's some information about sitars I gathered.

QuoteAnyways, you should make this into a little "Sitar Wars" series.
There is a new episode in the making... I'm a little sceptic wether the joke will work one more time, but I'll make sure the setting is different, and there'll be more of a "plot".
