Some inventions were just ignored.

PS: Mr. Buloght and Mordalles, those are great sprites!

I wanted to see it with a less yellow moon, and then I really f****d up, so now the moon glows too much... Anyways, I also tried increasing the contrast, esp. on the trees, and tried adding some highlights to edges of sides facing the moon. Hmmm "Edges of sides facing the moon" sounds like an album with really long pretentious songs!

I also tried working on the "fog feeling"...

This is just to give you ideas...

Idea - Hillbilly. I love images which tells stories. The way you use Flash is so damn good. Clean and appealing style. Now back to your game!
Design - Grinder. Not crazy about the sky design, but otherwise this is a very atmospheric piece. Love the building.
Functionality - Yiclepigeon. Can't not work as a BG.
Technique - Nihilyst. Cool to see a different style from you! Could have been a bit more consistent, but has some amazing touches, esp. the fog. Great sense of depth.

I like it Tuomas, but why did you jpeg it? Many nice entries!

And I think I might enter with a game called "The Secret of Donkey Island". I had the idea a few months ago,

Look closely at the board in the back  ;)... not that noone else could've had that (rather obvious) idea of course....

BTW could someone post that original 16-colour palette again (too lazy to search), maybe even include it in the first post..?

Well, most men would like to marry her. Others found her a bit boring, especially her desire to follow every reality-TV show around.

Alright, it's time to pick the winner. There were suprisingly many entries, and all were good in their own way. Thank you all for participating, and making this a high quality coloring ball!

3rd place: the rev. A moody piece, my favourite among the "moon entries".

2nd place: Tocsik. I didn't mind a little altering of the house, and you did it really well. A good combination of colors, well balanced and great for the setting.

Winner: PureGhostGR. Really a no-brainer... Very effective use of colours, very nice piece. Congrats, go on, host a new one!

Critics' Lounge / Re: My Comics

I found them quite funny. There have been times in my life when I've been laughing harder but they are not too bad. Would be cool to see some more.

The art is quite clean, and all important details and actions are easy to get. I think your greatest strength lies in the facial expressions which are mostly very good and to the point. Details like the Mac guy's nostrils are great additions. The anatomy could use some work though, the poses are often stiff, and their arms generally too short. You could also work more on the compositions. Eg. in the first panel of the first comic, there's a lot of dead space at the bottom while everything is stuffed together at the top. Also the last panel should have been centered. Try to look at each page as a whole piece. Sketching things out beforehand should help you moving things around to make your comic more visually appealing. The "camera" angles are also very simple, classic tableaux style. Maybe it's your style of choice, but it often doesn't hurt experimenting with more varied angles. The fourth panel might be "shot" straight on to make it different from the third, or you could try an over-the-shoulder shot (with the girl's shoulder appearing in front of the boy).

Weee! Thanks! Nice trophy too! I'll set up a new coloring ball tomorrow.

Pixel artistry at it's finest. The Dagger sprite is simply amazing, great work!

This looks like a wet dream of an AG fan.

Since the tablet maps directly to the screen, if you've got an image open in Photoshop, it's probably open in a window - it's quite rare that you're only working on one file. So you've got less than the size of the screen to work in, which means the workable area of your tablet is less than A6, which is pretty damn small.

You can prevent this directly-to-screen behaviour by switching to "mouse mode" in the tablet control panel.

Same here!

@raddicks: I think you've made a very good investment.

Wow, cool!

Thanks for the votes and kind words!

New Blitz is coming soon.

Idea: Cluey... Very original style, would be cool to see a game set in this enviroment.
Design: Sektor 13. Your BG's are always impressive. This image has a terrific mood.
Functionality: Ildu. Perfect design for an AG.
Technique: Ildu. The detailwork is very nice and I like the colors!

I like the image a lot, very nice tones.
Just a quick try on bringing some more perspective to the house;

Ivy, is that a criticism of the walkcycle or a joke,

Could be both!

I think he's too much like a soldier in the last one, very stiff upper body and high knees.

If the somewhat noisy "jacket-twist" in progz' edit could be omitted, it'd be damn near perfect, IMO.
