here's mine
<edit> dang i got the resolution wrong again.Ã,  i'll re-render it before the deadline though.

i like to use terragen too,...it's a great program.  i have gotten some interesting otherworldly terrains by using various grayscale procedural textures saved as .raw in photoshop.  the built in ones are good too.  especially the perlin noise.

cool topic!  placeholder for me!

my suggestion would be: less smooth curves, less contrast, and more randomness.

you don't need an alpha channel, AGS reads the top right pixel as the color for alpha.  so you can use any color you like for alpha, just make sure you use one that's not used on the character.  that's why alot of people like to use lime green, or purplish pink.  however, if you really need an alpha channel for a 3D model, you can always learn blender, which is challenging to learn, but you can do just about anything with it, including alpha channels.

I vote also for alpha.  Nice job!

another good place to download cool animations is the CGTalk forum.  It's a forum for 2D and 3D computer artists.  It also has a pretty good resources page, some cool competitions, and other stuff.

I made this a couple of months ago, so it's not an official entry, but I thought it belonged here.  behold, the roto groomer!

I might try using an animated displacement map in blender.  Alsoo you can make key frames for mesh distortions. ( RVKs )

I think I'll go with privateerPuddin.  I liked the glowy illumination and texture.  Hard call though.

After a thorough review of the entries, I proclaim the winner to beee,....
Ashen! ( cymbal splash here ) xxfixed, thanks! (see below)xx

I just sort of exagerated what you already have. Ã, I shifted his eyes downward by a pixel and added a shadow under the eyelid too. Ã, didn't quite stay within the pallette!

did you want to animate the cloth, or just render a still?  are we talking pants and shirts?

I'll give it a few more hours in case anyone else wants to do a last minute entry.

Thanks for all the nice comments guys, I'll see if I can fix the lighting and the mist.  I kind of like the moon the way it is though, I could have made a more realistic one, but I like the glowing look.

This is actually the background of an animation I'm working on, but I made a game size render in case I think of a use for it later on.  C and C?

I think his lead foot should be coming down more on the heel with the toes pointing more upward. also you may want to give him a slight bob when he walks.

Jeskola Buzz is free and does lots of stuff.  It comes with lots of goodies like synthesizers, samplers, midi trackers, and a pattern editor, and sequencer.  And if you ever get bored with the array of machines it came with, you can go download more, because new ones are being written all the time.  also like someone mentioned, anvil studio is handy for midi.

well i didn't spend much time making this pretty so excuse the crudeness but I cranked some ray mirror and some distortion on a plane and tossed some primitives around.

<edit> just saw the update.  looking good.
