it is very nice indeed, I like the colours you used. If you post pictures of different angles, they will help us give more useful comments.

It's not so bad, but it's not "pixel" art. It seems to me like you just used a spray tool. I suppose it could work for some limited textures, but not for the dirt path.

I voted for the blonde, because she's cute.

Quotethe font does make it look a bit like a Neverwinter Nights expansion pack

Well, it IS the Neverwinter Nights font, but I don't know if it's the original font or an imitation. The font I used is freeware, though, so I didn't think it mattered.

Quotemaybe a vortex of some sort behind it?

Yeah, that's a good idea, I'll give it a shot.

I really enjoyed Nightfable's edit, but I did not want to shamelessly use it like that. So, I tried to reproduce it with no real success.

I won't work on this again any time soon, maybe I'll redo it from scratch in a higher resolution when (and if) the music becomes more serious.

Thanks for your help!

I didn't think it was bad at all, but I thought it was more bright than I wanted it to be. So, I tried doing something similar:

I don't really like it though :-\

Since you asked... The lyrics of this project are based on my dark-ish fantasy story called Synarchia. The purple vines you see around the hand belong to the Provider (in German, Versorger), who is supposed to be a giant tree-like creature.

It is not a serious project yet, so there are no records or releases planned. I'm just writing silly midi music (progressive doom/power metal) for experience, but I know that someday I will release something.

Anyway, I don't want to add a background that will distract away from the hand, but I was thinking about a cool frame thing, something that would complement it.

Hey all,

Lately I've been working on an experimental music project and I figured I could create some concept artwork for it. Well, here is what I came up with:

It seems to be lacking something in the background, solid black just doesn't work right. Also, I'm not so sure about the shading on the hand.

Any suggestions?

I don't know if I could consider myself a writer, but I'm currently working on a (to be long?) epic fiction story. However, I don't want to ruin it with my average vocabulary, lack of talent or experience. Most of the time I just think about it (its plot, characters, locations, etc) So I'm writing a semi-draft version when I have time, hoping that someday I'll find someone who likes it enough to help me fix it up a bit.

Some people have told me what I've written so far is actually good, but I don't trust their judgment so much because they are probably just trying to be nice :P

Not my kind of music, but I do find it good and pleasant to listen to.

As everyone has said, the recording quality is poor, especially for songs 2 and 3. But, having composed music with similar (if not worse) sound quality, I think I can understand and appreciate where you are coming from and even "imagine" it in good quality.

My favourite of them three is Midnight Envy, assuming it was professionally recorded.

I don't think the music is very original, but I also don't think that music has to be original to be good. I also think that original music sometimes automatically means crap.

Keep it up!

I couldn't finish the game... Whenever I was fighting LeChuck, some specific moves were causing my computer to freeze. I was not able to fix it very quickly and I gave up.

As for your problem...
If you are definitely sure it's a glitch, try loading a game before you entered the swamp or something like that.

Here's a more recent pic of me. I haven't changed much, except I am getting fat (can't really tell from the pic).

I don't usually start new threads in here, but I need some help for my brother.

He definately loves to paint, but he somehow has the need to buy very expensive oil brushes of perfect quality, sizes ranging from very small to medium and preferably with short hair. Online shops usually offer prices ranging from 3 to 5 dollars for size #0 or #1, and he kinda feels like a professional brush should have been more expensive...

Local shops don't seem to have anything he likes. Google is my friend and everything, but I don't know how to pick from the numerous online shops that appear. I don't know which I can trust, which provide bad service, etc. Because it's real money we're talking about, I thought I'd ask this forum for recommendations as many people here work with art.

Also, how can I know about how big the brush size is equivalent in dimensions?

Thanks in advance ;D

Sorry, we Greeks are not old calendarists and therefore I refuse to join the party. The only people who are still old calendarists here are the extreme orthodox christians.

I got:

Some clothes and shoes
A 80gb video iPod - Yup, I sold my soul to the devil for 80 gb :-[
A bunch of CDs:
- Legendary Tales by Rhapsody - Cheesy symphonic metal, thankfully I do like cheese
- Symphony of Enchanted Lands by Rhapsody - more cheese for my ears
- Triumph or Agony by Rhapsody (of Fire) - even more cheese, but more epic and less metal
- Melancholy Beast by Pyramaze - uninspired power metal, the singer lacks emotion
- V: The New Mythology Suite by Symphony X - Awesome progressive metal!
- The Oddyssey by Symphony X - Even more awesome metal,  but with a more "raw" sound, I like the other one more
Also, still to be delivered here from Amazon:
- Saviour Machine II by Saviour Machine
- Reflections of the Obscure by Essence of Sorrow
- A 100% free refund of V: The New Mythology Suite, because the final tracks weren't working well (thankfully I already have mp3s from someone else)

Yes, I love spending my parent's money on original cds that I could pirate for free.

General Discussion / Re: Happy New Year!

I was the first guard of 2007 in Cyprus, I signed the service book as soon as the fireworks went off. Yeah, I had to spend both Christmas and New Year in the army away from my family for the first time ever, but I actually had fun with the other guys there.

General Discussion / Re: iPod vs Zune

I hope I'm not getting too off-topic, but I need help on purchasing an mp3 player. Starting new thread would probably be unnecessary.

I currently have a SanDisk sansa m240 1GB and I'm totally happy about the way it works. See, I really don't need a super robot, I just need an mp3 player that can play my songs decently, with a simple menu and a good battery life (up to 19 hours, works with AAA batteries). It's also fairly small, something almost essential for me as I need to carry it around in my small pocket.

The problem is that 1 GB is way too little for me and that the mp3 players I find that have a lot of space (I think around 30 GB will be good) have also too many features that I don't need and which add to the price.

So I was wondering, can anyone suggest a cheap (but good, if you only want to listen to your songs) mp3 player, preferably small in size (I need it that way) with a lot of space?

Very nice, I actually laughed my butt off at the Gizmo Bot one, especially the 3rd and 4th pictures :P

The one with the heart attack is my least favourite, because that joke is way too overused. I
I've seen the whole "repeat what I say" gag too many times so far, it was funny the first couple of times.

Actually, I loved the graphics of MI4. Sure, I prefer the 2d graphics more, MI3 was beautiful. But, I thought MI4 was still very atmospheric and thought that the graphics weren't off the spirit of its prequels.

As for the game itself, it was indeed a disappointment but still fun to play.

General Discussion / Re: MIDI music playback
Mon 02/10/2006 17:38:15
Check your volume control in case some software somehow muted or reduced the volume to 0 of your midi playback? It should be something like Microsoft SW, if you don't see it try going to Options>Properties and check it if it's unchecked.
