I want every game you've mentioned that I don't already own. Sad thing is I'm poor and I lack a credit card or a checking account. I hate paying for things with money orders.

Man, what I'd kill to get to play Grim Fandango finally.

Thats a nice model car on a real background...

Yes, I noticed that too. It's from an ebay auction of the Matchbox van. I don't know why they put it on a real picture.

I don't have any sort of vehicle (mainly because I don't have my license. Shut up!!), but this is what I want:

And this is what I want it to look like:

If I had a Toyota Hiace or was promised one, I would so get my license ASAP. They are beautiful.

I enjoyed it. I mean, it was buggy, but it was just a demo to get the feel of the game so I didn't really expect some sort of amazingly functioning thingy. From what I played of it (I stopped when I realized I couldn't pick things up. Gwah.), I like the way it's going. The style is very nice, and I liked the humor. I'm now looking forward to this game even more.

"I am rich, with pillow cases" was one of the funniest things I've read all day.

Sylpher's little ISO game has mighty delicious, soothing music. Won't wake anyone up!

I am not a huge fan of word game threads, however ...

Q: What is the difference between 'word game' threads and 'talk like a pirate day' threads?

A: Perception of what is fun.

cheers,
dm

No, the difference is that a lot of word game threads cause a million bajillion short, few word posts. It's hard to keep up with them, while threads like the "talk like a pirate day" thread generally require more thought out posts.

Think of the children's bandwidth!!!1!

This is one of the games I'm looking forward to. I'll definately download the demo when it comes out. Glad to hear it's still being worked on, despite real life. Mine isn't nearly as hectic and I haven't gotten a demo out.

Just shows how lazy I am.

I meant that the hand part may be as well a "puzzle" in an action game, and the masturbation suits duke nukem better than flashbax.

Who are you to say what suits someone else's game? Foz wrote the game. Foz made the game. Foz gets to decide what suits the game. If you don't like it, you could've stopped playing it. No one made you play it but yourself.

I stand by the fact that the game should only have to please one person and that's the person who made it. Everyone else will have different opinions and there's nothing any game designer can do to please them all.

And the term "big old man masturbation strike force" is the most brilliant thing I've read all day.

I stick by my belief that the NES classic "Princess Tomato in the Salad Kingdom" is the greatest adventure game of all time. Since no one else will agree with me on that fact,  I'll also say that Heart of China, the Monkey Island games, King's Quest 5 and Sam and Max are brilliant, well made adventure games.

EEK people's opinions. If the game you made was the game you wanted to make, don't change it just to make it more popular... If they think it's too vulgar, they can go and play another game.

I concur. The first and only person you should worry about pleasing with a game is YOU. You'll never make a game that everyone will agree with or like, because everyone is different. What might be vulgar for some is nothing to others.

To quote that song 'Garden Party', "You can't please everyone, so you've got to please yourself." So true to life. If you're happy with it, leave it. It's not your fault if other people don't like it. They have to live with that fact, not you.

This is really good. I love the 3d-with-cel-shading style and you guys do it well.

And I think his lips and eyebrows are great. They give him character.

It's funny too, because she was based on a worker in LEC (higher up the pecking order than the artists) called Carla.

And the original close up design of Elaine was based on Avril Harrison, another LEC artist. But that's off topic.

I feel that games with more diverse character designs that go beyond stereotypes are much more interesting. Look at Quest for Glory 3. Almost every human character besides the player character was black, because the entire game world was based on Africa and I think they did a good job of avoiding stereotyping beyond the obvious cultural similarities. I think on a whole, QFG is a series that, because of the game worlds, involves a lot of good minority characters. I  think that might be why it's one of my favorite series.

As far as Sierra series go, I like them all really. My favorite is definately QFG. I've always, always loved the graphics (in the first and second ones especially) and they were the ones with the coolest stories and they were a good example of combining a fighting system with an adventure game. I also adore Space Quest. So funny.

When comparing QFG5 to other 'recent' Sierra 3d adventure game efforts, it's really pretty good. I enjoyed a lot of the puzzles, and the story isn't terrible. I'd play it again.

King's Quest 8, however, made happy, hyperactive puppies sad. And lethargic.

And Squinky, if you do play MI4 with lowered expectations, it's good also. It'd be a nice, stand alone game, but it's no Monkey Island.

And finally, speaking of Dynamix, I just HAVE to plug Heart of China again. I LOVE that game.

I lied! I wasn't finished yet! Darth, where did you get the Girl in the Tower mp3? I must have it! My sister and I find the little tiny demo they had in the game completely hilarious.

I'm not one to advise about animation, but as he is a pirate, he might have a bit more of a swagger to his walk. We have lovely swaggers. Also, a pegleg might be cool. Or a hook hand.

As for the other animations, even though the right one has more frames, the left one seems smoother to me. Maybe it's just because it's faster. Both are awesome, though.
