Also, they drive to fast and wobble.

Haha, I have spent only a few days in the UK during my lifetime, but I can confirm this fact, it's so true.

for those that listened to Lordi thinking they were listening to indicative heavy music, a counter-example.

I know the whole genre-thing sucks balls, but if I had to classify Lordi, I wouldn't call them a heavy metal band. After all, even the band itself doesn't classify themselves as a heavy metal band.

Finland has been taking part in the Eurovision song contest for 40 years and has been pretty much the last one every time. This yeard Lordi were asked if they would like to put themselves up for a candidate. I think their actual agreement came as a surprise for many. (Here's an actual interview with Mr. Lordi himself, where he explains how it all happened.) Many people probably voted for Lordi just as a joke, the idea of sending a bunch of monsters to represent Finland in Athens was just so tempting. Of course, there are hell lot of actual Lordi fans who voted for Lordi because they thought it was the best candidate in their opinion.

And then Lordi and went and won the whole thing, making Eurovision history.

I agree that not everyone who voted for them necessarily liked their music, but because the contest is so full of crap they probably thought something completely different from the usual should win.

Personally, I like Lordi's music, but part of the enjoyment comes from the whole monster thing. I couldn't imagine Lordi performing without their costumes, it just doesn't feel right. If you like horror movies, by the way, you might want to check some music videos by Lordi. Great stuff.

I don't usually watch Eurovision, because, like I said, it's usually full of crap. However, I sat through the whole thing last night only to see Finland's success. I must say that the few highlights of the night were the British announcer showing horns while giving Finland 12 points (I lolled), and Mr. OX's signs he showed to camera everytime Finland scored 12 points. ("mitäs tilasitte?" Haha, genius!)

On the other hand, calling the winning band "shit" or "gay" on their own forum after their winning is the lowest of low. It's a shame that not everyone can take losing.

Another thing I noticed was that hell lot of songs seemed like they were inspired by Ruslana's winning song from some years back. Does this mean that next year the contest is full of rock/hard rock/metal songs? Who knows, it should be interesting to see what happens.

Goooooooo Lordi!

Damn, it took us 40 years to win. Pretty cool.

You all suck penis and I hate you for making so damn brilliant entries that it's hell for me to vote.

This must be the fourth time with the exact same rules and I love it. These rules have always been succesful and will always be.

I can't stand the fact, though, of the "import background" in the room editor being in the toolbar! How INconvenient is that? Just a click away turns into a cluster fuck ;)

Haha, well I agree with you on that! It took me ages to find out how to import a background after updating to the version of AGS where that was changed!

Also, hooray for LE (!!!11) and boo for working sucky hours in the summer!

Snake, you old horse's ass. How's it going?

Yes, there indeed is an option that allows the usage of the old style scripting ("Enforce object-based scripting" tickbox in the game's general settings), but trust me, I started learning the new scripting and I don't want to go back to the old anymore, it's really easy and useful!

Also, the newer version of AGS obviously has so many new and sweet features that it would be silly to use an older version anyways. :P

Woah, thanks for the nice comments. I seriously wasn't expecting a third place even though I was very satisfied with my entry. Great entries, everyone, and congrats for all the winners!

My dad prints shirts for a living.

I assume attendees get to buy custom made t-shirts, then? Also, does the colour of shirt matter? My local print shop can only print on white tees.

Also, if it rains, Nintendo? We could do time attacks!

Canon Powershots are generally very good. I still have my Powershot A60 (with only 2.0 mega pixels!) and it's excellent especially in leisure use (for example, photographing AGS meetings). It's not too bad for artistic photography either, but the settings, like exposure time and stuff, are too limited. I've taken truckloads of photos with it, for example these two:

I'm planning to get a new one some time soon, hopefully.

But anyways, it very much depends on what you're going to do with your camera.

Attention everyone arriving in Alicante airport on the 16th! Grundislav and I are going to meet up at the airport before catching the bus to Benidorm, anyone else want to join us? We're planning to wait for Chrille to arrive so hopefully we'll be able to set off to Benidorm around 5:30 - 6:00 PM. I'm arriving in Alicante around 1:30 PM and Grundislav a couple of hours after me, so those of you who will arrive early in the morning, you can either wait for us or go to Benidorm on your own.

Farlander, how big is the Alicante airport? Will it be easy for us to find each other (are there several terminals/halls of arrivals), and are there lots of shops and pubs to keep us entertained while waiting for the others?
#173
That was a good read, great report! You didn't have truckloads of photos like some of us, but every one of your's was priceless!

It brought back memories, thanks a lot for posting it, it sure was worth the wait. ;)

!

People are persuading me into coming, but I can't say anything definite yet. IF I'm going, I'll probably arrive in Stansted airport. Is there anyone who is going by a car and could possibly pick me up from the Stansted airport on the way to Wales (and who could also give a lift to Stansted after Brittens)?

Hello.

EDIT
MEH. Moved the face a bit. I can't be arsed to update the animation.
#177
You coloured everything with gradients? Drop the gradients and try either flat colours or simple shading instead.

Mr. Frisby's is the most hilarious.

Adam: that was quite an experience, thanks for the link!
bspeers: haha, that's amazing and cool, juggling for teh win! I wish I could juggle. : |

Here's some urban legends-flash documentaries. Dunno if you can call them awesome, but I found them interesting. Beware though, some of the videos contain parts that are supposed to make you jump. They are usually quite predictable, though.

It's one of the original AGS operas. Hear it here.
