Oh, but we have an anthem already. The AGS overture of course! (which we sang at Mittens too, remember?)

He loves us all, he just hates what we represent.

I was able to download the first tune, but the file was corrupted or something, Media Player wasn't able to play it.

The second one is quite nice. I like how the tune builds up, but the bass line gets quite repetitive towards the end of the song. Same goes for percussions. Add variation to the drums, add hihats etc. Just don't go overboard with them.

Try to experiment with melodies, I'd like to hear different instruments playing different melodies. If you were to use it as a boss theme, then follow DanClarke's suggestions. It could work quite well in a cutscene or actionish sequence the way it is, like SergioCornaga said.

Keep up the good work, I don't think my tunes were anywhere near that good when I had been making music for half a year.

His upcoming album "Dinosaurchestra" should be out very very soon. It'll most likely rock, judging by the samples I've heard.

He also made the midi 30 music pack, which has been used quite a lot in various AGS games.

I drew a werething.

Now if someone could tell me what the hell is that thing?

Thanks, I'm quite sure that is the problem. It seems to change the VST instrument according to the patch of the midi channel, so for example when the patch 12 in midi is, in Edirol Orchestral's Key & Percussions it's timpani roll. The problem is that I have no idea where I find the program change-info in FL. I'll keep looking.

EDIT: I found a workaround which requires quite a bit of extra work. FL Studio sucks.

Hallo.

I'm trying to convert some midis to OGGs using VSTs and soundfonts, however, I've ran into some problems.

I'm using FL Studio 5 and basically the process goes like this: open up a midi, add Edirol Orchestral VST, assign correct instruments to midi channels. Sounds easy enough? Well, it has worked fine before, until now.

I've got some midis that aren't made by me, but The Scorposer. I assigned the Orchestral VST instruments to match the original instruments in the midi and thought I'd listen to how the track sounds. Well, it sounded all wrong. I couldn't figure out what was going on until I noticed that the Orchestral VST instruments had changed. For example, channel three was supposed to have marimba in it, but it kept changing to timpani roll. Cello section became viola spiccatos, classical trumpet became tuba staccato etc. etc. Some of the instruments remained unchanged, though.

I have no idea what is going on. Perhaps the midi has some weird settings that change the instruments. Anyone have any idea how to make the VST instruments remain unchanged?

I don't know if FL Studio has something to do it, but it lacks some quite useful features. For example, pitch bends are nearly impossible to do it when making midis. Perhaps I should finally switch over to some other composing program?

Any help helps! Ta.

The thing with legs straightened is that the pose is sturdier that way and aiming is easier. I don't know how it is in SWAT or SEAL, they might have different techniques.

When we had combat practices I don't remember ever shooting whilst standing, though. I was always ducking behind rocks or other stuff, or lying on my stomach. Much less chance to get hit that way. The only times I shot whilst standing was at shooting gallery.

But I understand you need the standing pose for your game. I guess in real situations you'd just do what you can without thinking about getting the exactly correct pose you were taught. So do what you feel suits your game the best.

Based on my military training I should be able to give you some tips.

The first one looks okay, nothing wrong with that.

In the second one you could move the rifle a bit more to the right, at the moment the end of the rifle (the one that's against the shoulder) looks like it's not even touching his shoulder, but his arm instead. That's a no-no. Also, if he is supposed to be aiming, move his head down. When you aim, you tilt your head towards the rifle and lift your shoulder a bit so that your head is almost leaning to it. At least according to my technique.

Same things apply to the third one. You might be going for a cautious look in this one, but we were taught that when shooting whilst standing, your legs must stay straight.

The things mentioned above apply to the fourth one.

And to the fifth too. Also, that pose is too high when shooting from your knees. His ass should touch his right foot (basically, he should be sitting on his right foot), and his left elbow should be resting on his left knee.

But then again... no solider keeps gun near head when autofiring (I suppose it's kept at torso/stomach level).

Haha, you try and hit your enemy Rambo-style, ie. burst mode and gun at stomach level. :P

Yeah, I too would be interested in seeing what you have achieved with the technique you keep mentioning over and over again. It would be a neat feature to have, but I just can't seem to understand how it could possibly work.

I dream about AGSers every now and then. We even had a discussion about AGS-related dreams on Skype the other night. Funny thing we noticed was that, if the AGS dream is about Mittens, everything goes always wrong. Just when it seems that things are going fine, something completely unexpected happens, ruining everything.

Another thing we noticed was that sometimes there are people who don't look familiar at all, but you just know who they are. Even if you have never met these people.

So no, you're not the only one going insane, Nacho.

Activity suggestions are welcome. We could go to Linnanmäki, but that would be quite expensive.

I just checked the prices of Linnanmäki. There doesn't seem to be entry fee as far as I know. The wristband ticket thing, that allows free entry to every attraction, costs 28â,¬ and a single attraction ticket is 5â,¬. The biggest problem would probably be transportation if we've only one car, bus might get quite expensive.

Water park Serena could be another place to visit especially on sunny weather. The whole day pass is 19â,¬, and an evening pass, which works between 16:00 - 20:00, is 15â,¬. Again, the same transportation problem applies here.

Those are the only places that come to my mind right now, I don't really know what else worth visiting there is around that area. :P

Well maybe the sprit jam is pumping because now we have trophies(spelling?)!

Are people seriously entering Sprite jams in hopes of winning a small trophy to stick in their signatures? What happened to times when people took part in activities because they wanted to have little fun or improve?

*Helsinki is the only international airport in Finland (?)

*What is the drug policy in Finland anyway. Just wondering, really.

There's also the airport of Tampere, however, that's further away from Haddas' house and you would probably have to get a bus or train, whereas if you fly to Helsinki you might get a lift from Haddas himself.

As for the drug policy, drug-drugs are illegal. 18 and up are able to buy alcohol and cigarettes and get into pubs, though you must be 20 or more to be able to buy stronger stuff in liquor store.

I guess I should update my status as well. I'm still planning to come, but I might have work around that time (I'm not sure yet! That's what I get for being a substitute worker). I should be able to get the week off though, and failing that at least a couple of days from the beginning of the week. So I'm definately at least turning up. I possibly won't be able to come by a car because I don't own one, so I'll probably catch a bus down there and meet up with Ishmael on the way.

Do you have any plans what we might be doing during the stay, Haddas? By that I mean trips to somewhere else than the nearby lake or your front yard. :P

I like the idea (and I think Apprentice II had something like this), though I don't think it needs to be a feature in AGS, mostly for the reasons Gilbert said. It works great with mp3 and ogg with crossfading, but with midis and modules it just wouldn't sound good.

So my suggestion is, ask SSH to make a module for this. :P

Quote from: Petteri on Sun 23/04/2006 09:30:28Soo, anyone got mp3s or something instead?

Well, Mr. Cope himself has them, of course: http://arts.ucsc.edu/faculty/cope/mp3page.htm

I love.

That's quite nice. If I didn't know, I would have thought they were works of man, not machine. Though every track I listened sounded like it was just a brief modification of the original. I was looking forward to hearing totally original melodies, I guess I was expecting too much.

I would have to agree with Adamski and EldKatt on this matter.
#199
But that would mean downloading and installing a software only to get to hear a couple of tracks!
#200
Seeing that it is in Real Media format, it can't be that amazing and thus not worth listening.

...

Soo, anyone got mp3s or something instead?
