Why has he not responded? One would imagine that a newbie would be excited to be so warmly welcomed...

Not that I'm any less welcoming..... just surprised.

erm... all I get are funny little messages in dutch. (It's probably not, I just like the word 'dutch') I assume they mean something along the lines of:

"Ack! Do not Access me! There is a problem! If you are the owner of this site, then please talk things over with me, because right now, I'm fairly pissed off with you, and if you don't know why, then I'm CERTAINLY not going to tell you...

I SAID DON'T ACCESS ME!"

Or else maybe that IS your movie.....

in which case I say congratulations.

excuse me?

Yes.

I believe it's an attempt to arouse animal attraction.

Or maybe he's just got itchy balls. Which would be a BITCH to live with...

Drugs are bad.

We should ban them ALL and prosecute ANYONE who even goes within FIFTY FEET of them!

That will solve all the world's problems, and then we can focus on more important matters, such as lunch.

When I opened this thread I thought the title read : Lord of the RINGS!

And I was thinking: "Why has nobody flamed this fool for trying to re-do a game done 10 million times?!"

But since I have realised it's lord of KINGS, I admit that it looks brilliant!

QuoteDon't botch it and I think the graphic stealing will be fine. Its no worse than using the default Roger or Ego sprites

But........ but......... but I like Roger.....

You say it as though it's WRONG to use a pre-maid character with strange hair and eyes and walk-cycle and a pink shirt!

Are you making fun of me?

C.

Yes.

Well..... not really...... because I agree that sucky stuff is hatable. But there was an element of sarcasm, not really intended to be directed at anyone. But, seeing as you are the only other person who has posted so far, I could understand that you might take it personally. :D

QuoteI just dont get layed much...

So you ARE on a higher level... :D

Anyway, a long-winded explanation ensues, so unless you're up for it, look away.

The best insight into a spatial fourth dimension is to read the delightful classic little book, "Flatland". Almost any library or bookstore should have it. It works on the analogy of a groovy little dude who lives in a two dimensional world - his name is "A. Square" - who learns about three dimensions.

Four dimensions would have two directions that are perpendicular to our three dimensional world. They have been given the names "ana" for four dimensional "up" and "kata" for four dimensional "down" with respect to our space.

So if a four dimensional sphere were to start anawards of our world and move through it in the kata direction, what we would see, as it intersected our world woild be first a tiny three dimensional sphere (cross section of the four dimensional sphere near its kata pole) which grows in size to a maximum (the "equator" passing through), and then decreases gradually again to its mini size before vanishing, having passed commpletely through our world and out the other side.

This 4d cube has the right PRINCIPLE involved (one can plainly see the cube katacate and anacate) but it lacks one fundamental:

Here is a diagram. The X's are points that have separation between them. To travel from A to B, it would look like

oooXoooXoooAoooXoooX
oXoooXoooKoooXoooXoo
oooXoooXoooKoooXoooX
oXoooXoooXoooKoooXoo
oooXoooXoooKoooXoooX
oXoooXoooBoooXoooXoo

In the macro world, you would only see travel directly from A to B, but a photon or electron really has to zig zag through an arrangement of strings.

The fact that the human mind cannot COMPREHEND this movement (especially in 4d) makes it impossible to re-create it in a program.

Am I the only mother*naughtyword* here who's read Stephen Hawkin's books?

You and me both. We are on a higher plane of understanding.

EDIT: I am lacking 3d glasses. Someone share the experience through type....

But it's still not 4d...

General Discussion / What do YOU hate...?
Sat 03/04/2004 06:59:34
Hmm.....

Well..... right now..... I'm hating my inability to not post while I'm in a 'strongly-opinionated' mood.

I've been reading some of my latest posts, and when I read them I think "damn... I come across like a real smart ass in that post." It's just that when I get fired up about something, I have to post IMMEDIATELY to express my thoughts.

On other forums, I used to be able to NOT reply until I'd collected my thoughts together, but lately I've become an emotional-poster....

So.... what do YOU hate?

P.S I also hate J Wess and Chingy and Ja Rule. They should eat glass. Lots of it.

Are those photos at the top of the page meant to make him look sexy? Because they are oh-so-NOT sexy. He looks like a cheap sleazebag who can't use a digital camera, and has great trouble using photoshop to 'brush-line' his pics...

Urgh x 2!!

EDIT: Okay..... so I'm a guy... maybe I'm not MEANT to find him attractive, but [yogi bear voice] he's more disturbing than your average bear [/yogi bear voice] .... I mean.... erm....

Yeah, that's not 4 dimensional, that's just one cube inside another with a neat little animation.  In order for it to have 4 spatial dimensions, there would have to be 4 intersecting, perpendicular lines.  It's impossible to draw or even imagine because we live in a universe with 3 spacial dimensions.  If you saw something with 4 you'd probably either go insane or simply not even notice the 4th.

Exactly. They just call it 4D to look cool

I have no idea, and it's driving me insane.

I thought the word was funny without any context, which is why I quoted it, although I agree that some intertextual definition could be handy.....

Edit: whoops. Double post.... I thought I'd hit the edit button..... obviously I hadn't.....

Also, to Yoke... I disagree. I think it would be GREAT if I could just up and leave.

Financially, I can't.
Practically, I can't.
Emotionally, I can't.
Realistically, I can't.

It would be even BETTER if I could just wave a magic wand and make my community better. Unfortunately, I think every stoner in the street would be at my door with a flame-thrower if I tried that.

So as ideal as your vision is, it's not realistic. People who live in government housing, for example, can't just up-and-go, and they certainly don't have the means to change anything. (Writing a letter to the council does NOT constitute a change). They're stuck where they are, and there's very little they can do to change it. I wouldn't be criticizing their attitude about it, either.

And I live at home with my parents. I have enough money that I could get a place if I needed to, however that would stuff up just about every other plan I have, including paying off all my uni fees, which is a more direct threat. And, as a student, I don't have any say or sway in the community, so no one gives a rat's arse what I preach and practice.

Could you perhaps tell me how you've changed your community? It might give me inspiration.....

I can accept that marihuana makes less damage than cigarretes... I also think than jumping from a 10 storeys building makes more damage than jumping from a 2 storeys one, but I wouldn't jump of one of that neither...

Well said.

And, Collossal, as much as I hate to say this, Hyde is actually right (to some degree). Marijuana doesn't kill brain cells

Although some of this other stuff he's putting forward is both un-necessarily hot-headed, as well as quite wrong.

Washington did NOT smoke pot:

"George Washington grew marijuana on his plantation. In his time, pot was a legal crop. It was not used for smoking, but instead the stalks of the plant were used to make ropes, canvas and paper"

Ignore sites that tell you he did. They're WRONG. I'm not saying he ABSOLUTELY didn't try it, but it's certainly not documented legally. Trust me - Five years of History and Society do not go wasted...

Also, incidentally, he was not the FIRST president. John Hanson served for one year before him...

The music slander you made was kind of funny actually. This was how I read the sentence:

"Gimme a break, man! I turn on MTV and want to listen to talentless bands who've made it big, and all I hear are talentless bands who've made it big!" Sorry..... that was just too much to handle. Slipknot?!
Okay - I recognise that here I'm insulting you're choice of music, which I apologise for, but it's not like they have anything MEANINGFUL to say...
It's like ICP who wrote all those songs about how commercialism was going to destroy society, and then, HEY HO! THEY GOT THOUSANDS OF COMMERCIAL ENDORSEMENTS! Now THAT makes sense...
