There's 6.8% missing..
Are we included in that section?
The "obsolete" games?
Or is the 6.8% just Minesweeper and Solitaire?

Hey,

Masturbation weakens the immune system.  Something to do with a sudden loss of protein or something.  A thousand drops of blood make a single drop of bone marrow, and a thousand drops of bone marrow make a single drop of semen..  Or, so I've been told..  Ancient Indian Proverb, I think.

I, too, have a some kind of bronchitis/flu resulting from molesting chinese geese.  I thought I was on a boat, talking to a cabbage earlier.  I found out the boat was a sofa and the cabbage was a pack of menthol cigarettes.  Damn fever induced halucinations..  at least it's cheaper than acid, only everything tastes like strudel at the moment.  This happens every October.  Get well soon, Squinky..

Also, the two paragraphs above have absolutely no relation to each other.

 EDIT :

To answer Trapezoid's (following) question/statement/insult..

It's more ejaculation than masturbation, actually, and it's is supposed to have an effect on your immune system, much as sex.  I think it's for a few hours afterwards, while your body takes time out to refuel it's love spuds.  Possibly something to do with white blood cells, I'm not a 100% sure.  It does weaken it in some way.

General Discussion / Re:Awesome site ...

Hey

What with Mandarb's apparently "cool" site, the dislike of it being posted before and the resulting off-topic bickering, poking fun and somewhat humorous retorts..  I would like to make a suggestion, and here would seem to be the best place.  Ok, here goes:

How about a sticky topic, within which people can post "cool", "awesome" or "This site is so cool, I want to crap my pants.." sites.  This way, people can check the previous posts easily, to see if has been posted before, and we can keep a handy little collection of fun sites all in one place.

I thought about posting the thread myself, but:
1. I couldn't remember/find/make up any witty sites.
2. I didn't want to get universally panned for creating a pointless thread.
3. I'm too lazy.

Also, I'd like to suggest the thread's topic is "This site is so cool, I want to crap my pants.."  In honor of Phee, and his totally sweet ninja whatnot.

General Discussion / Re:Anger

Hey

Anger..  yea, I used to have my hulk moments.  Usually, verbal hulk moments.  It's my own fault, I'd bottle up all the anger I had for a couple of months.  Then, kinda like "the straw that broke the camel's back", someone would say or do something that I didn't like..  and El Whammo, I'd explode at them, usually ended in a hour or two rant, with me picking the most malicious comments I could think of to purposely hurt the said explodee.  Often it was my dad..  once it was my band's drummer (who had pretty much been the *whole* cause of that particular rant, who I now have no communication with).  Once it was one of my best friends, my guitarist.  I didn't feel at all happy about that.

After that day, I started researching Buddhism.  It was more of a coincidence, actually, as it was next on my list of religions to learn about.  Anyhow, I started researching and learnt about the whole meditation side of it (Zen, pre-reformation, non-koans.. not Theravoda or Bhoddivista..  [sp]).  I took up the meditation, and I haven't really exploded at anyone since.  I'd tried meditating a few years before, but it never really worked for me.  I'm still not a Buddhist, but I'm leaning more towards each research period.

I'm not staying convert to any religion, but I am suggesting to start thinking about the "big picture", and how getting cheesed off at something really proves to be or no use at all.  If someone insults you, think "Eff it, who cares?"..  If something ticks you off, think "Sh*t Happens", and move on.  There's really no point getting miffed, as your time would be better spent doing other things.

Hey

Ted Vedder, circa Ten.  It's mucho pretty, but..

El numero one:  His shirt looks too flat, for want of a better word.  It seems to need a bit more shading.

Two:  His shins look like they are made of molten lava.  This is more of a comment than a criticism, as I like them.  Kinda like he's had a leg-swap op with the Thing, from the Fantastic Four.

Trois:  His neck seems somewhat pale.

Hey

Mostly practicing with my band, ready to record a demo the first week of september.

I'm only online (at folks home) to get a DOS-based paint program, that'll run on a 286-12mhz, 1meg ram, door stop/paperweight which is all I have at my flat.  Now I have one, I can try to be like [eric]..
..altho, I probly just end up doing badly drawn pictures of things that are illegal in most countries.

Also, good luck Evenwolf..  remember, nob gags.

Hey

I too am going to disappear for a while.  Not sure how long.  The main reason is I'll be completely netless, no phone line.  My stupid fault for not paying the bills for either of the two lines I had.

I'll be back before any games are ready, but I will have had time to make some significant advances.

Hopefully, I will be further along in my quest to lose my n00bness.  My game developing maidenhood, if you will.

Also, I'm apparently averaging 4 posts a week.  I'm sorry if I broke any limits there.

Hey

Right, firstly, RONbat is going to be lo res, and pixellified.  Here's one frame from the previous sketchy thing, to give a clue on the size of the characters.

As for a moves list, I'd suggest:  (Brackets are optional, but will make for a better fight)
Standing (Bouncing), Stepping (Running)
Punch (High/Medium/Low)
Kick (High/Medium/Low)
Throw, Fall, Jump (Roll), Block (High/Low), (Taunt)
Specials (See other Beat 'Em Ups, for inspiration or come up with something yourself)

If you come up with anything else, do it..  we can always work it in somehow.

Also, Gil's right..  you'll only really have to do the artwork and either me or very will get the character knocked up ready to fight.

* Iqu looks in Very's direction and slowly starts to side-step in the opposite direction.

Oh, and with the art it could be handy if you sent a text file, with a quick desciption on how you want the character to move, etc..  Eg:
Quick but weak hits
Punches that are really strong but a glass jaw
Big, fat and slow but could take a beating for hours.
General All-rounder, and somewhat dull.
Etc.

Hm.. and what buttons you want for specials (No ridiculous ones, like "Type the first chapter of War and Peace = Tiger Uppercut).

Hey

The first one looks kinda like a mining community in the wild west.  The door is a little of perpective wise, so I'd suggest lowering the right hand side just a tad.  It also looks a little, well..  clean.  It looks like it was built yesterday, and swept every hour since.  You could try putting some general dust/filth/mess/stuff around, to make it look like an established shop.  Also, the counter.. the bottom left part is off perspectively, and needs raising that side.

The second, it does look very sparse.  As it's an office in a cop-shop, I'd suggest files and file cabinets, photos of his/her current case, waste paper bin, maybe even a newspaper clippings of big cases solved he's solved.  Oh, and donuts..  nothing says "cop" like donuts.  (Mind you, nothing says Cliché like a cop/donut reference).  I'd also suggest checking the police station in the first Gabriel Knight game, for more ideas.  Oh, and a chair for the person he interviews and an IN/OUT tray on the desk.

Hey

Quick? It took me a whole thirteen minutes.

The wardrobe thing..  In that case, I'd suggest putting a shaft of light, on the back wall, from the window.  That way people'll know it's not light and, hopefully, be able to work out what it is..
..Also the character could explain the mark in the game, so you won't have to worry to much.

To clarify the shading..  it's the textures.  Some people like lots of texture, and some people like it to be done with solid chunks of shading.  There's nothing wrong with it, per se, just some people have different preferences than others.

Finally, the slide thing..  I'm just not keen on the shape of it.  As I said before, I think it would look better with a silhouette of different objects, just to break up the curve-straight line-curve-straight line-curve-ness of it.  This again, is merely a personal thing.  I wouldn't worry too much, as after all it's your game, not mine.

EDIT: Ooh.. seven minutes this time..

Crikey..

It's pretty good if it's a first attempt..  now begins the crits..

The light from the window (on the right) doesn't seem to have the curtains.
The window doesn't seem to have much in the way of a frame.
I'm not keen on the black outline..  this is just a personal thing, but it kinda looks like a photograph slide.  I'd suggest making a silhouette of various bedroom orientated bric-a-brac..
The bed looks like a king-size..  mind you, it may *be* a king-size, i don't know.
The shading: Some people will like it, some will not.
I'd also suggest trying darker colored outlines, instead of black lines..  don't count this as necessary, just an idea.  Black lines can work just as well.

On the whole, tho, I like it.
