Hey

The outlay's nice, but it looks like the contrast on my monitor's gone haywire.
It all seems to be light grey, if some bits were darker like the distance bit on the top right, and the parts under the bridge, it would look better.

Also, the dead guy.. he does seem small, but you may want him ickle, so I don't really know.  It depends on the character's size.

* Iqu finally posts in Tier's thread..

Hey

He looks like he's goose-stepping with a bad back..
..(personally) I'd give him a more relaxed gait, kinda groovy, slouchy thing.

That's not to say that I don't like him, tho..  'cause I do.  He looks kinda naive and somewhat blissfully ignorant to what might be going on around him..  which I like in a game.

Hugs

* Iqu looks forward to Bad Timing with gleeful anticipation..

Hey

Progress is going pretty much like everything I do.  Slow.  *Real* slow.
The concept art (on paper) is done, and the special moves are pretty much all worked out..  It's just the lack of a scanner makes things drag nearly as much as my knuckles on the floor.

Also, the plan is to make RONbat a mugen (old DOS version) affair..  but a port to KOF91 shouldn't be *too* hard.  KOF91 seems to have nothing done to it for over a year, and their is a distinctive lack of ability.. as far as I can tell, there's not even a throw.  Mugen looks to have more flexibilty in the long run.. even if it has gone Linux-only recently.  Altho, it'll be ported to Windows soon.

General Discussion / Re:Who's Your Influence?

Hey

Art:
I got a set of crayons as a child, and it kinda snowballed from there.  For cartoony pics I kinda steal bit's from everything I've ever seen, if that fails.. I'll usually doodle for hours until something looks like what my head intended it to look like.
The background's I've had stabs at are mostly influenced my DOTT.. the kinda "just say NO to outlines" style.
I did have a general disgust of outlines (see avatar) but recently, I've started to like them on certain characters, as it provides a more comic feel to it.  Comic like the ones on paper, not the kinda shonky daytime tv guest who tries to pass him or herself off as a comedian/comedienne.
I also have a liking for kid's cartoons like Fairly Odd Parents, Dexter's Lab, Powerpuff Girls, etc.. which I've tried to take on board more recently.
Oh..  and Duckman.  Never forget Duckman.

Music:
For my band, it's usually Sonic Youth, Hole or Queen as my influence, and the other member's bring their influence to make a an ugly mish mash of noise and feedback..  but our stage show kicks ass.
For the in-game music I've tried, I seem to be most influenced by Muzak (the stuff you only hear in elevators or Eurovision Song Contest entries).  It's the whole MIDI feel to it, I can't help but go for cheesy sleaze.  (It's easy-peasy with cheesy sleaze.. now, new strawberry flavor cheesy sleaze..).
Oh.. and Duckman.  Never forget Duckman.

Writing:
Usually comedy..  I've tried more serious stuff, but it always ends up looking arrogantly pretentious and more often than not: ass.  So nowadays, if I find it funny, I'll make a note of it and keep it for future reference.  Not things I've seen, just the things I've thought of.  I'm trying to avoid plagirism as often as possible (in which case, ignore the whole "cheesy sleaze" thing).  I also try has hard as I can to avoid pop culture references, unless the thing I'm refering to has been around for a while.  "McDonalds" you know, the "Fast Food Song" by the "Fast Food Rockers" you probly don't.  If you do know them, you didn't last month and won't next month.
As for people I've ripped off.. it's usually a one-liner every ten or so episodes, of things like the previously mentioned kid's cartoons, and Futurama, Simpsons, South Park, Family Guy, Ren and Stimpy etc..  usually cartoons.
Red Dwarf, now that's something I've been heavily influenced by that in the past.
Oh.. and Duckman. Never forget Duckman.

Game-making:
I played the "Wayne's World" and the "Beverly Hillbillies" games, and thought: "These blow, even I could do better".  I'm still in the process of trying to..  it wasn't as easy as I first thought.

Try "Weapons of Mass Destruction" (I'm feeling lucky)
and "French Military Victories" (I'm feeling lucky)

You probably already know of these, but what the hell.
Enjoy.

Hey

I am going to take the role of my own death friend..

* Iqu puts of a hat and becomes..  "Eddie Bingo"

Eddie says..
Quote
Hi.  I'm Iqu's death friend.
Many of you may think he's dead.  Personality wise, he probably is.
Sexually.  He's a corpse, and has been for sometime.
In reality tho, starting from about two hours from now, he's going in to Stealth Mode.  (He's going home, ergo netless, ergo dead).
I will resuscitate him in two weeks.

Cuddles
Mr. Bingo

* Eddie Bingo takes off the hat an becomes..  fatter, uglier and generally more depressing.

Hey

Thanks, and it will go on the site when I can be bothered to..  type.. stuff.. and things..  like..  whatever..

Also, Soldier of Misfortune already has another 8 unfinished part.  Other comic-type thangs that aren't ready yet will also go up on the site.

Hugs
Iqu

It'll be a while, tho.  Tomorrow I go into hiding for a couple of weeks.

Hm..  Collections.

I've just realised I do the same.  I've never thrown a magazine away, rarely chuck newspapers, have every single toy from when I was a kid (these will *never* leave), have bits of blank paper that used to be receipts about ten years ago but all the ink has faded and keep every bus ticket, cinema ticket and travelcard I've ever used.  I think I've got some other people gave me which were already out of date.

I also have a 5kg bag of pasta a friend won four years ago.  It's use-by-date was 2001.  I'm too scared to chuck it.

I have a broken TV and VCR from the eighties.  I think I even have the keys to the old locks on my old house somewhere.  I have a used lollipop (popsicle) stick collection somewhere, too.  Also, all the schoolwork I've ever done since I was 4.

I had to post it.  If I didn't bad things would happen.  I have prevented them.  Lives have been saved.

Yea, if I hadn't posted it things might have been the same, but I'm not reckless and daring enough to test that theory.  Ergo, my mental deficiency has made me a hero.
#619
You mean I have to write something else, now?
#620
Hm.. I'm number 19.  Someone prod me with a stick in sometime in November.
