Hi all good AGS...ers.

I got a new laptop running Windows 7.
I put my music and vids into the appropriate folders but something is strange.
When I open 'Media Library' it shows all of my music but doesn't show any of my videos.
It says that the video library is empty, which I know for a fact is wrong.

Has anyone had the same problem or am I just doing something wrong?

Many thanks.
Jay.

Barbarian... You bastard. ;D

I played your game and thoroughly enjoyed it.

I ran around for hours trying to kill that F*****G zombie.
It was only when I read your spoiler that I realised I had been wasting my time. ::)

However... it was time well spent. :D

You need to finish this game cos I thought it was great.

Jay.

Hi All.

I have deleted my question cos it was silly.

Hi Arj0n.

I found it on 'Amazon.com'.
However... They don't have it at the moment and it is only in French language (don't know if that matters).

At least you can say I tried ;)

Damn.

Looks like I missed that one.
I must do some iceyfication now. Gives me a good reason to update my pic. ;D

Thanks Khris for your help.

Khris. (My Mentor) ;)

Thank you.

That's fantastic. Works much better and looks neater.
I am still fuzzy on these "int's" but learning.
I assume that now I can add more stars to the scene by adding a new 'if (timer ==)' thing.

P.S. What happened to 'Khris MUC' and why has your avatar grown yellow hair? :D

Jay.

#407
Hi Khris.

Long time no speak. I hope you are well.

That looks better.
As you said I do indeed want to have more stars than just 2.

The 'int timer' part you suggested. does that go at the top of my room script?
And if so can I do away with the first script I gave where I set 2 timers?

Thank you.
Jay.

Hi peeps.

I wonder if anyone could help me with this piece of code I have.
I haven't worked with timers before as I haven't needed them but now I do.
If at all possible I am looking for advice for the best way of using them.

Now I have a couple of stars that twinkle (star objects) I want them to twinkle a pause and then twinkle and so on.
In 'Player enters room before fadein' I put this.

Code: ags

  SetTimer(1,300);
  SetTimer(2,212);

In my room script I have made the 'function repeatedly_execute_always()' and put this.

Code: ags

function repeatedly_execute_always() {
  // Script for twinkling stars. //

if (IsTimerExpired(1) == 1) {
   object[3].Animate(0,5,eOnce,eNoBlock);
   SetTimer(1,300);
   return;
  }

  if (IsTimerExpired(2) == 1) {
  object[4].Animate(0,5,eOnce,eNoBlock);
  SetTimer(2,212);
  return;
 }
}

This works as I want it to but it just seems clunky somehow. Is there a better way of doing this?

Many thanks.
Jay.

Indeed Baron.

If I am not mistaken. That is Latin for "Let the buyer beware". ;)

On a serious note.
Has anyone else noticed this or just me.

I remember a film... or should I say Series of films that my old school buddy had at the time, back in the early 80's.

If I remember correctly it was called 'Crying Freeman'.
As far as I remember it was Japanesse with subs.

I think it was about an assassin who took jobs to kill people. He cried everytime he did so, I believe.
There was a reason for this... although, for the life of me, I can't remember why.

In my mind I remember it as being a good animation and bloodthirsty ninja tale.

Hi Baptiste.

I was only fooling with you. :)
It made me laugh when you said 'When I was young. --would have been... 95 or 96, I'd imagine.'

I just had a silly moment and felt like having a laugh.
I did understand what you were saying... You vissited the exhibits in the Year 1995 or 1996.

It was either the Smithsonian or the Maryland Science Center that had this same exhibit when I was young.  --would have been... 95 or 96, I'd imagine.

Sheesh! I don't know 95 or 96 is quite old, unless you are a Hobbit. How old are you now? :D

No.

On the home page under 'Resources'.
It is labeled 'Knowledge Base'.

I tried to type something in and was then presented with an 'Ooops' screen. (A woman dropping our beloved 'Big Blue Cup').

Hope this helps.
Jay.

Edit: This is what I get.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Ops!
How the hell did this happen?

This page doesn't exist. If you just clicked a link on the official AGS-site, please post on the Forums to notify us about the broken link.

If you came here from another website, please notify the webmaster of that site.

You can return to the page you just came from or go to the AGS website and try and find what you're looking for there.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Edit (Again):

Also I just found that if you click on 'AGS Problems and Solutions' you get an error 404 and a page about 'Debt, credit cards and all sorts of shit.

sorry.
Jay

Hi all.

I have done exactly what I have been told to do. (Doesn't specify where I should post this so here seems good to me). :-\
I am reporting that 'Knowledge Base' is not working.

Many Thanks.

Hi all.

My Laptop.
It's ALIVE... Ha... Ha... Ha... (cough... cough... cough) I should stop smoking. :P

I had to take it to my mate, who does wonderous things with comps.
After a few hours of putting discs in and out and getting in to parts of my comp, that I didn't even know existed.
He found, numerous, root kits that had been installed, all from this one program. :o

I don't know how the hell he did it but my Laptop is now working as it should.
Also my HDD is completely intact and I have lost no data. :)

Thank you all for your help.
Jay.

Hi Grim.

Thank you for your reply.

I will try this.
I can specify a boot mode but it will have to wait until tomorrow now as I am about to go to my crypt.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Hi Mode7.

All I get is the manufacturers screen and then a black screen with a flashing cursor.
On the manufacturers screen it does allow me to either go to bios or choose a boot device though.

This is what I get for trying to be a tight ass, I guess. ::)

Many thanks.
Jay.

Hi all good peeps.

Firstly. I feel bad for posting this above Snake's post.
Snake. My condolences for your loss. :'(

I am in search of help.
Tonight I downloaded a program called 'Driver Genius Professional'. I needed a serial key. So I then found a key gen for it and downloaded that too.
I then ran scans on both programs and all was well. However when I double clicked to open the key gen I recieved a 'Big Blue Screen Of Death' and my
laptop re-booted.

Now all I am presented with is a black screen on startup. :o
Does anyone know what has happened here and is there a way to undo what I have, obviously, caused.
I could use my restart disk but I realy didn't want to loose stuff on the HDD until I have no other option.

Please can anyone help.
Many thanks.
Jay.

General Discussion / Re: Movie Suggestions?

Another one is 'Stir Of Echoes'.

A film starring Kevin Bacon. The child actor is Zachary David Cope.
His character is the one who communicates with the deceased girl throughout the film.

Sorry. I am a dark minded bastard and enjoy dark films. ;D

Jay.

EDIT: Another one is 'Scary Movie 3'. The child actor in that makes me piss my pants with laughter!

Hi.

Ok. I know you said that you would like other movie sugestions without Haley Joel Osment in them but...
I really like the film 'The sixth sense' with Haley and Bruce willis.

Also. Another Bruce willis film 'Mercury rising' is a good one. I can't remember the child actors name but he plays the part of Simon who is a nine year old autistic boy who cracks a government code and finds himself needing Mr Willis's protection.

Hope you enjoy.
Jay.
