If I recall correctly, the Draconian edition has a different Changeroom function.

I believe it's:  character.ChangeRoom(room, direction)

Mouth for war, use the code tags:

Second of all, if you're going to post code to assist people, try to use indentation so they can learn from your example instead of spawning even more unreadable script. Thanks.
Because of your lacking indentation you failed to notice you had an extra closing brace.

Code: ags
if (player.ActiveInventory==istring) {   //The item to be used on the magnet
  cEgo.LoseInventory(imagnet);                     //player lose magnet
  cEgo.LoseInventory(istring);                     //player lose string
cEgo.AddInventory(imagstring);                   //player gets magnet with string attached to it
} else {
Display ("That won't work");                     //player tries to use something else on the magnet
}

People start game discussion threads about design theory and preferences all the time, but if Icey shares his dreams in a single thread it's like a crime? What about Ben's Release Something thread? Should we shut down it too, while relentlessly mocking everyone who's participated?
Your argument collapses on itself. The release something thread, or threads talking of game design aren't making constant preposterous claims. Someone posting something in the release something thread is showing something they've completed, or teasing us with something they plan on making. They don't post a picture of their game and say "Nintendo has contacted me, I'm going to be a developer for them now". They haven't "contacted" him, it's an automated email response to an online developer form he likely filled out.

This is an absolutely disproportional reaction to somebody simply posting their ideas and drawings.
We haven't once gotten upset about him showing his artwork or what he wants to make in future games. If you look back to here, you'll see everyone started facepalming at this moment as he kept naively answering every question people asked him once he claimed he was going to work for Nintendo. For example, he's proven that he can't even grasp a simple array, yet he makes claims that he will learn how to script for the Wii U - because it uses "common" languages.

Actually, no, it's not understandable at all why you keep deliberately knowingly reading something that annoys you and then complain about it.
I don't even want to quote what you wrote at the end of this paragraph. Melodramatic much? Anyway, Icey himself doesn't annoy me all that much. The only time I lose my shit is when I offer up advice or my opinion and receive countless excuse after excuse. Or he doesn't even read it and responds with "I only read the first line". I don't care if you don't read it, but if you respond with "I started reading it but got bored because there weren't any popup pictures" it is likely to piss off almost anyone. Next time Icey, if you don't read someone's response, just don't respond to it. Not to mention he responds to someone's input and completely overlooks every credible point. I honestly haven't seen him follow a single person's advice since he came on this forum (though, he did learn to greatly improve the writing in his posts, but they're still often garble).

Edit: Going to quote myself:
QuoteWe haven't once gotten upset about him showing his artwork or what he wants to make in future games.
That's actually a lie. I suppose his claims of making DLC in AGS (where it's actually not DLC but in all actuality just unlockable content). Or when he wants to make large multiplayer games. We all know his current limitations, but he for some reason doesn't.

But you don't make typos. Instead you spew out tons of diarrhea in the form of words and hope we understand you. We get upset because 90% of your messages need a translator to understand - and even the translator scratches their head in confusion.

Quit saying I'm mad about the old joke I played on you. I'm certainly not mad about it.

As Khris said, we get upset because everyday is something new. "Working for Nintendo" "Making Xbox games" "I have an authentic ESRB rating"
Quit spewing out everything you fantasize about and stick with telling us stuff you've actually achieved, not what you dream to achieve.

You're awesome, thanks. That has bugged me for a long time. ;)

Ryan calm down, I'm not lying and it's not an excuse, I have a special keyboard installed called swiftkey, it predicts the next word and helps you with the current word.
I never once called you a liar for typing like shit, I called you lazy. Very lazy. Also from seeing you correct the same line twice and it STILL doesn't make a lick of sense, you're also showing you have zero knowledge of the English language or how to properly use it. You just randomly type like a monkey, stringing words together hoping they make sense.

I've got the same keyboard as you and nearly the same phone. It seems like your biggest problem is that you act like a little boy who makes excuse after excuse instead of just manning up. It's pathetic and it annoys me. Say this next time: I'm sorry guys that my posts are incomprehensible. I'm very lazy and I'm not very smart.

Instead of saying: Sorry guys, I suck at typing because I have a hangnail... on my toe.

You guy cant lie you've. = You guys can't lie you've,
Oh, thanks for the clarification... ???

I'm using my phone right now too, so don't use that shit as an excuse. Just try proof reading what you type. Simply: care. If you don't care what you type, why should we care reading it.

(roll) You took that way too literally.

I meant it in terms of quality, not genre. Icey releases nothing but unfinished games riddled with terrible UI mishaps or laziness, below mediocre and often sloppy graphics, with more spelling and grammar mistakes than one could believe possible.

Based on Icey's fantasies, which is to have a developer randomly contact him saying "You're perfect! Work for us!", Dave and other successful AGS game creators stand at a much greater likelihood. But at the same chance of winning a comfortable amount in a lottery.

I often see people posting in the scripting threads without encapsulating their code. Can we post an example above the post text box that reminds them to show their code in the

tags? Showing an example of what code looks like in these. Possibly even showing the button they can click on to quickly insert these tags.

Thanks.

Icey, all I've ever said was that even if you suddenly were as big and as successful as Google, I could never take "Icey" seriously. It reeks of an 8 year old's spelling. Googol isn't a common word - hardly anyone knows of it, and it's clear that Google is their own word just like my Bryvis is (which is a combination of me and my brother's names).

If you want a professional business, then Studio3 is the one you want instead of the childish Icey Games.

I need to say something to you Icey, which I'm sure has been said before but I'll attempt it again. I respect that you have dreams to become a professional game company; to be successful doing what you enjoy. But you're a little naive to believe that at this current stage of your game making pastime hobby, that you'll have Nintendo/Square Enix knocking on your door. If they aren't knocking on Dave Gilbert's door (at least I haven't heard of this) or the doors of nearly all of these amazing AGS indie game creators, they certainly won't be knocking on yours.

I'm certainly not saying you can't dream. I even dream about the same thing as you, which is making games. You need to prove to a business that you're worthy. You need to be overly talented and successful to be even a glimmer in their eyes.

Make your own game like: I MAED A GAM3 W1TH Z0MBIES 1N IT!!!1
It's a simple game. Simple graphics. Simple idea. And earned well over a million dollars.

You do this, and I guarantee you that it would be significantly easier for you to find a door into these companies you dream to work for. Or just stay as your own independent company and make the games YOU want to make, pocketing all the money.

I know, but google is also spell wrong which is actually supposed to be googlle if I'm correct. I'm not using that as an excuse tho ;)
It was actually googol that the name Google was "based" on.

And I don't see Icey as a preferable way of spelling it. I actually see it as an 8 year old's attempt at trying to spell. I personally would have a hard time taking that company seriously.

Before I found out your name was supposed to be "Icy", I actually read it as "I-key" or "I-kay". I still often look at it and laugh at how long you've decided to run with it.

I think I want to drop studio 3 and go back to Icey Games...hmmm decisions decisions :)
You do realize the correct spelling is "icy" and not "icey", yes?

What version of AGS are you using? PlaySound has been obsolete for awhile now.

Check out AudioClip.Play in the manual. With the audio files imported in your project, simply call it like so:
Code: ags
aExplosion.Play();

I don't think there's a limit to how many characters can appear on screen at the same time.
Yes, I'm right. I was way off on my initial guess. It's 75, but that also includes objects.

Error Message:
An internal error has occurred. Please note down the following information.
If the problem persists, post the details on the AGS Technical Forum.
(ACI version 3.21.1115)

Error: Too many sprites have been added to the sprite list. There is a limit of 75 objects and characters being visible at the same time. You may want to reconsider your design since you have over 75 objects/characters visible at once.

Note: I apologize in advance if you already have a firm grasp of these elements.

AGS's dynamic sprites and drawing surfaces gives you the ability to create your own X by Y sized sprite and then to draw to it or alter it. Imagine it like a canvas in MS Paint. You make the dynamic sprite 100 x 100 pixels. Then you can draw images to it, which would be similar to pasting images to your 100x100 MS Paint canvas. The order you draw the images will be the order they appear; first drawn means it'll be behind all subsequent images drawn.

In this case you'd likely just use the drawing surface on the room background, which allows you to alter the room's background, but I believe only while you're in that room (I may be mistaken on this - I remember that it resets to default background image when you reload the room).

Using drawing surface would mean you'd have to control everything. You'd have to store the X and Y coordinates of each enemy along with their current sprite (or frame, including the view and loop). Then before drawing, you'd have to manually sort the drawing order of these enemies, likely by the Y position.

I don't recommend this route if you aren't a capable programmer because everything would rely on your scripting with a tiny bit of help from AGS.

I believe with characters you're limited to something around 20-40 on screen at once (unless Crimson has lifted this limit in the newer versions).

The question really depends on the graphical view of the scene. If it was more of an arcade sequence or background animations (behind anything like the Player character, etc) I personally would just go with drawing surfaces and not even use a single AGS character.

You're right. If he were an alien, I would've accepted it and I wouldn't have been rolling my eyes as often each time they brought in his "spirit stone" and talked about the rain forest. Like with Nelix going all postal when he starts doubting his afterlife tree beliefs (which really pissed me off that no one even said "What if things that happen in the spiritual world don't transfer back to the materialistic world - therefor you wouldn't remember it because it happened to your soul, not your brain", not that it would have made the whole thing much better. I generally dislike heavily religious plots).

And yes, kconan, very rude indeed. Like wait a bit, we're trying to talk here! ;)

I hope that's not Leprechaun 4: In Space

On a side note, you know what I absolutely hated about his Voyager character Chakotay? It was all that Indian bull they mixed in with his character. It didn't feel authentic, he either did a very bad job at acting and making us believe this was his way of life, or it was just poorly written.

I'll admit though, I generally find scenes with Indian related stuff boring as all hell. One I can think of is that episode where Mulder was nearly dying and the Indian did some life saving voodoo magic on him - IT WAS TERRIBLE and I nearly passed out when I rewatched the series last year. And that was the second season premiere, like talk about a quality introduction.

It'll just crash if you move the GUI completely off screen, which is a "feature" that really should be removed.
