Don't worry, Yufster, we're not all out to get you. M0ds, is of course, but in a nice way. And you do have some interesting ideas: especially for Beyond Reality. Your new avatar is great, too.

If you flutter your eyelashes at the young men enough, I'm sure they'll be the ones begging you for forgiveness, soon.

EDIT: I'd like to exclude myself from the "young man" category

I mentioned a while ago that the free SCUMM interpreter was available for Windows CE and PalmOS computers. I guess that WindowsCE would be the easiest port. It would be so cool if you could play AGS games on a palmtop of any variety.

I sure hope this isn't another case of 'oldies vs newbies'. To be honest, i don't have any issues with the stuff she posts here. Though, the excessive swearing is a bit much -- even for my ears. As for hard-to-read posts, I'm buggered with long-winded paragraphs. That's why these days I write simple sentances instead of long essays. It make it easier for people to read.

If you take out the double line-breaks, it still reads like long-winded paragraphs your good-old style, DG, just taking up more space on screen. Ooops... I did a Yufster, there  ::)

Sasha: Do you mean the Jerry/Jeray/Jeruy etc. thread? Ah, salad days...

Undergroundling: Strikethoughs are OK in moderation, similar to putting ^H^H^H^H in Usenet, I guess, but I thing Yuffie was a bit OTT with them

Mods: You only say that because you think you're in with a chance!  ;) You do realise that she is actually a 45-year-old man pretending and the picture she posted was just another of his victims. That explains the eyes....

Apparently, he wants to be known as from now on, or "The Artist Formerly Known As CJ"... TAFKACJ.

Another possibility, similar to DocBook, is to use the POD (Plain Old Documentation) that perl and some GNU projects use. There are converters to HTML, postscript, UNIX man pages, etc. already knocking about for free and you put the stuff as comments in your code so that is can be seen there, or in a reference manual if you run ti through one of the filters.

The side-to-side does kind of make God look like a weeble (Weebles wobble but they dont fall down!)

I agree totally. I can't believe that everybody thought this was so great. However, I noticed:

All the dead hotspots are in the first Act. There aren't any more once you get to the University and beyond. It makes me think that originally they expected to do a lot more in Valadiene.

I hate those flipping Circle cursors.

Spoiler

It also finishes kinda abruptly, in a way that again points to running out of time/money or someone at the publishers saying "Split it in two and we have a sequel ready already"

I know this isn't the right forum to post technical questions, but here goes anyway:

How do I move my character in to a new room? I know there is a manual that might say something about this, but I can't be bothered reading it, so please can someone help me. If you don't then you are sad wierdoes who have never kissed a girl.

If my buttered cat thread was locked, this joke is even older....

Anyone want to start a thread on the guys lost in a Helicopter asking for help at the MS Office?

Incidentally, Bill Gates never said that, nor General Motors.

EDIT: I first heard this in 3rd year of University, which makes it 1993 at the youngest. It has obviously been modified a bit over the years, but the ideas are the same.

This is the oldest proof I could find, from '96:

Sometimes a bit of comedy helps relieve the tension of a totally dramatic situation. Take the marvellous "Les Miserables" musical. Gavroche and the Thenardiers are the comic relief, and "relief" is right, as without them we might just get depressed.

HIM: Master of the House
HER: Master and a half!
HIM: Comforter, philosopher
HER: Don't make me laugh!
HIM: Servant to the poor, butler to the great
HER: Hypocrite and toady and inebriate
HIM: Everybody's boon companion, everybody's chaperone. Everybody raise a glass
HER: Raise it up the master's ares
ALL: Everybody raise a glass to the master of the house

I think we should all just accept that George Bush is always right and those countries most vocal in opposing him, such as France and Russia and Germany should stop speaking their wierd langauges and sign up to be states 51-53. I mean, the Russians can't even get their alphabet staright. The keep writing Ns and Rs backwards and stuff! And they kept spelling USSR as CCCP! Tchh!

Obviously we should all speak Spanish, as most of George Bush's relatives do and there are now more Hispanics in the US than Blacks, they will obviously soon take over the country and thereby run the world.

Hasta la dominacion del mundo!

So ha! Ha ha ha! I'm 17 and I was writing (Or, copying out of magazines) codes before all of you! And when I was 8

Nice try, but I made a car game using ascii characters in basic on the C64 in about 1984

Pah! I was programming a 3D flight sim in EBCDIC on a PDP-8 in 1974 while I was still a fetus!

And you tell that to the young folk of today, and they won't believe you!

You whippersnappers don't know you're born. I was making Adventure Games before they even INVENTED pointing and clicking. I used Quill on the Spectrum. Being 27 is so last year, anyway.

OK, it seems that the world and his brother has already tried to do this. Personally, I would like one good entry point  or database, as it is a pain to keep searching around 101 web sites to find the answer to your question. However, creating a site for this will just add another site to the list of collections, unless it is actually hosted on the main AGS page,. I think.

One problem with the exisitng knowledge base is that it is more difficult for people to add to it (you need the admin password). Also, it is quite hard to find. It might be better to have a link to it in the banner on the homepage, rather than trying to find it by luck or memory or by searching eveyr page on the site!

What do you folks think?

Maybe the bug is that "script only" must be the most misleading option name since "National Socialist" appeared on German ballot papers.  :P

-Dictionary with the word 'Anthropomorphism' missing

Did you know that the word "gullible" doesn't appear in any dictionary anywhere?

Play "With Yourself"!

I've never tried that one myself *ahem* but I've heard that the sequel "The Hairy Banjo" is better.
